T-Clock / Re: T-Clock 2.4.3 build 471 Display Properties throws error
« Last post by Curt on May 21, 2017, 05:32 PM »
The built-in security programs in Win 10 / Edge will delete T-Clock at arrival. At least, they did to me. I then closed Edge and Defender before using Firefox to get and install the new T-Clock which is now running fine

UrlSnooper / Re: Help with a streaming link
« Last post by Curt on May 21, 2017, 12:11 PM »
The filetype is ts, short for "Transport Streaming", so they are not supposed to be downloaded one by one, but to be streamed. Many streams will merge and become a river, a video.
What the difference between Streaming Videos and Regular Videos?

Downloading is when you take a file, whether that be a video, music, or some other data, and you copy it from the Internet to your computer or phone. Downloading a file makes a copy of that file on whatever device you are using.

On the other hand, streaming is when your device receives data constantly.
Thus, if you are going to download Streaming Content, for example a video, you will download as much as you watched. If you want to download the whole thing, you need to wait until it fully plays on your browser.

Here is the example for you:

Let's say videos is 20 minutes long. You need to start playing it and wait until it fully pre-loads in your browser. Sometimes you need to watch it till the end. You can't just click to the end of the video.

If you wait till 15 minutes and then decide to download, you will get only first 15minutes of the video.

Yes, to download streaming content is less convenient, but there nothing you can do. We hope for your understanding. Please do not rate us bad for this reason!
-fvdmedia/streaming-videos

^ meaning, you need to watch / record (record, not just download) the full video, there is no easy trick.

Thank you, jackij, for making me remember I am not the only one. How very right you are; getting and activating a key can be such a frustrating procedure.

Please remember, this forum is not about sexual preferences.

I have never noticed this before.

-probably because the rest of their line of programs is all about specialized addons for an office printer. "We" usually don't move in the same circle as they do: "Our offices are closed for all U.S. Government recognized Holidays"

But welcome to DC, ZSchriefer1

HTH?  :D

Why does AbteriX keep asking How The Hell without finishing the question?
I am not trying to be funny... hehehe... but the biggest kitchen manufacturer in Denmark is named HTH, so search answers in Danish are not explaining this HTH

I am very grateful for your help, AbteriX, tomos, ConstanceJill. Thank you! It has been a pleasure to read your responses and TRY to do as you said. In the end, what was the easiest way was to follow ConstanceJill's link to smarttimestamp and simply place smarttimestamp.exe in /Pictures. I then did a "Command Line from here", pasting smarttimestamp . *.jp* /cd-modified /ct-modified. A second later, the job was done!

Thank you!

Post modified:
-----------
One must first remove write-protection from the picture files, otherwise smarttimestamp will simply stop at the first protected file.

1) I have never before seen Power Shell or Power Shell ISE. So no matter how grateful I might be that you're trying to help me, AbteriX, I have absolutely no idea what you just told me!  :-[

2) Power Shell will not navigate to C:\Users\Kurt\Pictures, but will strictly open at C:\Users\Kurt and go nowhere else. Any attempt to navigate elsewhere has so far resulted in "ObjectNotFound" & "CommandNotFoundException" or similar. So, back to basics: How do I navigate Power Shell?  :tellme:

When I moved my files to this computer (x64 Windows 10 Home), I accidentally & unfortunately used a program that has erased almost all original info   and changed every jpg "Created Time". This is sad to me, because no matter how trigger happy I might be, I did not shoot 2150 pictures within a couple of minutes!

I realize I cannot recreate the original info or saved / created time, but I know I can copy each picture's "Last write"-time to also become its "Created"-time - and such a compromise is very okay in the situation (I don't care about camera info in general, other than when & where was the picture taken?) However, for now I can only do this one picture at a time - if I try to do it with more files, they have so far copied the same "time", or caused other problems. I need help to do this the proper batch way!

ChangeTime.jpg

Do 'you' know of a program that can do this? Or can & will 'you' write a script to make it happen?

The only one I have heard criticizing Blackbird latest version, was me! It was an embarrassing situation: When I installed Blackbird, I was not aware that Windows was updating as well. When I restarted Windows, my Agnitum security system was malfunctioning because of the "new" Windows. I didn't understand this, but shouted Wolf! When Agnitum had updated, my computer was running well with Blackbird.

Almost every one heard the accusation, almost no one heard the acquittal.

I welcome you here at DC, Antony, and wish you the best of luck with sites and study.   and caffeine detoxification...

« Last post by Curt on May 15, 2017, 09:08 AM »
My previous post now seems to have a different meaning than intended. My problem with the initial post is the announcement "tomorrow there will (still) be a post here, but then with a different text". When I modify my various posts, I do it for clarity or for correcting errors. But ital2 did it quite differently; he wrote an entirely different post! We are not telling him to use fewer words (PLEASE, USE FEWER WORDS, ital2!!), but we're saying that he should not change the entire content the way he did.

^That is what I was trying to communicate:

How NOT to compose a thread.

Congratulations on your fine homepage and application, CoffeeAddict (coffee is not good for your thinking; you think faster but more hectic!)

What will "Disable Windows Update service" do to my security?

Have you tested your program against any "competitors" like Blackbird or Win10PrivacyFix or DoNotSpy10 or similar, and have a say about the differences? Or did you maybe concentrate on your own creation only?

Welcome to DC, nglcwy4
Regarding the driver updater, you must purchase a key before you can activate the program: http://www.avg.com/us-en/avg-driver-updater. Then try doing as they say here> https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=Download-Install-and-Activate-AVG-Driver-Updater

..., I have been forced to reset my IP configuration every time I start my desktop computer, if I want to go online ...

Thanks to tomshardware, I have repaired the thing "myself"! So, no matter if "the latest update from Microsoft is to blame" was right or wrong, this one was easy to fix:
Admin' command prompt: 1) netsh winsock reset catalog 2) netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log   But it may have had nothing to do with Target's problem.

Well, I will be getting a fine, new modem.

Do not install this:

Patch Tuesday (Most Recent: May 9, 2017)
-lifewire

Since Tuesday, I have been forced to reset my IP configuration every time I start my desktop computer, if I want to go online (Start Windows > "There is a problem with your IP configuration" > repair > Problem solved > next start of Windows > repeat)! So far I have agreed with my Internet Supplier to send me a new gateway modem (the old one is from 2011), hoping it will fix the problem, but I believe the latest update from Microsoft is to blame.

Long Path Fixer
Copy, Move, Rename and Delete files and folders with Very Long Paths. Got a "Path Too Long" error in Windows? Try this free utility for moving, copying, renaming and deleting files and folders with Very Long Paths.

Why?
Because the alternative (Long Path Tool) is shit payware by a shitty company that employs idiots to spam the entire internet about their crappy product.

Why is no action required to install this update?
In response to a constantly changing threat landscape, Microsoft frequently updates malware definitions and the Microsoft Malware Protection Engine. In order to be effective in helping protect against new and prevalent threats, antimalware software must be kept up to date with these updates in a timely manner.

For enterprise deployments as well as end users, the default configuration in Microsoft antimalware software helps ensure that malware definitions and the Microsoft Malware Protection Engine are kept up to date automatically.

Talking about True Launch Bar, I noticed for the first time that if you pay with Bitcoin the price is merely $10. This is really a good price, I think.

I have a license for the full Stardock series, but can no longer remember what ObjectDock was like.  :-\  However, a search 'here' made it clear that I have spoken about True Launch Bar in 11 different threads here on DC, this one being number 12, so I guess I already have made it clear that it's an important program to me as well ;-) And with your two's posts, it's appropriate that TLB just was beta updated per 1'st of May 2017: https://www.truelaunchbar.com/beta/index.html. I have been using TLB for maybe 10 years, and I have always used their beta versions, and never been disappointed.
