Best practice?  Pretend that it's all open, and don't do anything that you don't want anyone to see.

Exactly.  With the right equipment and setup, it's exceedingly easy to MitM attack an HTTPS stream.

However, we are allowed to use AutoIT!

You reference AutoIT here but AHK (AutoHotkey) in the subject.  Which (or both) is available to you?  They are not the same thing.

My question is, is it possible and easy for them to monitor, not the webpages visited (that's easy), but the text typed and submitted in webpages like dating websites and/or mobile apps, like Whisper, Chat apps, Dating apps, etc?

Absolutely, it is possible.  Whether they do, or care, is another question.

This could also easily be done with a standalone AutoHotkey script or an AutoHotkey script that integrates into CHS (as mouser suggested).

tomos - thanks - no - there was a post all in Russian earlier today.  It must have been spam, and Mouser must have deleted it.

Yes, it was spam, so I whacked it.   :D

Hi, H;o)lli, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.  Apologies for the lateness of this reply; my work/business travel has been rather busy lately.

- Would it be possible for you to make ChoppingList be aware of passing parameters?

Yes, this is doable.

One parameter would already be enough to make my day, namely passing over a list of file names (e.g. within the destination folder) like "filenamefirst.txt filenamesecond.txt". This way, it could be used by automated scripts.

The only caveat is that there is a finite amount of text that you can pass on the commandline like that so you will have experiment a bit and see what you can get away with.

- It would be fine also if not only .txt files were accepted but also e.g. .md or .rst files (markdown and reST files surely are text files!).

Yes, I can do this as well.  As you've already mentioned, the app will only be able to handle text-based files, i.e., no Word docs, etc.  I will try to get to this next week as I don't travel but, if I don't have anything by next weekend, feel free to remind me in this thread.  Cheers.

Just wondering what Skwire uses in addition to Auto Hotkey.

At a job, many moons ago, I wrote in C and Java.  However, all the applications on my website are all AutoHotkey-based.

If I have multiple windows of the same application there is no way to restore/bring to front all of them (ie. if you have a window on each monitor). It works great for single windows right now, however!!

Hmmm...I should be able to make it do this as well.  However, I won't be able to get to this until later this week so, if I don't have something by next weekend, please feel free to remind me.

I'm back with my request to handle "multiple files in an instance" @skwire haha

I know you'll be disappointed but I won't be adding that capability to Trout.   :(

btw, the volume percent indicator in the trout status bar indicates the volume value if changed clicking and sliding but not if is sliding with the mouse wheel.

Good eye!  I'll fix it in the next release.

and finally, why not add translation support? :P

That sort of thing really should be factored in from the beginning of a project and I didn't so retro-fitting it now would be a lot of work that I do not have time, or much desire, for.  It's been ten years since I first started writing Trout and I've often thought about re-writing it from the ground up.  Where does the time go, eh?

It might be beneficial to newcomers and old-timers alike for the original post to be updated to include a link to the Trout website.

Indeed I've send a message to MemPad developer requesting for this (make some option to save notes in tables)
Like this: https://s6.postimg.o...horizontal_list2.png

@c-sanchez: Thanks for taking the time to give Snap DB a try.  Unfortunately, as wraith808 said, Snap DB probably isn't going to be the application for you.  I have no plans to add a treeview or multiple database handling to Snap DB.

Snap DB just rename the last column, not selected one.

This appears to work fine for me.  I can right-click any column header and rename it.

I can't have more than one note in an same file, Snap DB make a database by file

I'm not quite sure what you mean here.  Can you try to explain in more detail?  Or, is it like wraith808 said, and you can't enter more than one record per database file?

Hi, ConstanceJill.  Nice to hear from you again.   :)

I've noticed something: I recently set the automatic wallpaper switching delay to 240 hours, but after exiting the program and starting it again, I see it has been set to 100 hours instead of the 240 I had chosen.

I guess it's a limit that has been set on purpose (?)
-ConstanceJill (April 05, 2018, 08:47 AM)

Actually, no.  That just happened to be the default for that UpDown control.  I've changed it to 1-9999 in the latest release.

Anyway, would it be possible to let the user also choose "days" for the time delay unit?
-ConstanceJill (April 05, 2018, 08:47 AM)

Added in the latest release as well.

Also, I just tested (with version 1.0.8) and setting the delay to 0 seconds just makes it switch wallpapers very quickly (as fast as it can, I guess). Would it be possible to make it so that when set to 0 seconds, it disables automatic switching (while still letting the user manually switch with the previous/next wallpaper hotkeys, and/or keeping the switch at startup)?
-ConstanceJill (April 05, 2018, 08:47 AM)

The hotkeys should be active even if the "Start wallpaper switching" button hasn't been pressed.  Are they not working for you?

I've uploaded the v1.0.1 build with the following:

v1.0.1 - 2018-04-05
+ Added ability to handle multiple MPCPL files dropped on the form.
+ Non-MPCPL files get added to the list now as well.
+ Added "Always on Top" option to the View menu.

Get it here: http://www.dcmembers.../mpcpled/MPCPLed.zip

And, does it work? It seems to have something to do with the PowerShell, which I don't know what it is, so.. What do?

According to 4wd, it didn't work on his setup.  It's been a hectic week for me but I'm still trying to find time to try some potential solutions.

Does C:\Windows\System32\Group Policy\Machine\Scripts\Startup still exist/work under W10?

Might be able to just put a script in there that sends a [Up Arrow] when the machine is at logon screen.

What I was using back in this thread.

That's exactly what I was going to try and, if that didn't work, try running the script from the Task Scheduler.

Hi, Techno Grub, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.     I'll take a look at this later tonight as see if I can come up with a working solution.

General Software Discussion / Re: IDEA: Need an .MPCPL file editor
« Last post by skwire on April 03, 2018, 04:15 PM »
Okay, so let me give you the short version of the results. It works great! I'll admit it threw me for a moment when I loaded up an MPCPL file that used LABEL and SUBTITLE because each "line" is in a separate column. But admittedly, that probably makes it even easier to code. If the column is blank, you don't need to "write" that line to the final file. Very elegant.

Correct.  At first I was going to code it using a treeview but shifting lines in a listview is a lot easier than a treeview (with its parent and child components).

Now, being the kind of person that I am, I'd like to request one more feature. Is it possible to either allow creating new lines? Or better still, allow dragging and dropping media files into the window so that they simply get added in as lines (probably at the bottom of the list)? True, you'd (by default) only fill in TYPE and FILENAME, but that's okay. If I need to I could add the LABEL when necessary and/or add a SUBTITLE file if needed. Aside from that, it really works great!

This is already in my private build that I haven't uploaded yet because I'm not quite decided on how to handle things.  Here are some thought points:
  • Do I restrict the dropped files to known media file types?  MP3, MP4, AVI, MKV, etc.  If so, who handles this list?  Me, internally?  The user?  What happens when a new format comes out? Either I have to create an update to add or the user has to remember to add the new extension to a list (probably would not happen).  Neither is an elegant.
  • Or, do I just go ahead and add anything the user drops and let them delete files they didn't intend?  This is probably the way I will go.  Basically, only the filename and type columns will get populated but you will be able to add label and/or subtitle data like you can now.
  • Now...how to handle MPCPL files that are included in a group of media files?  Just skip?  Or, add the MPCPL contents to the list, too?

Oh, the joys of trying to predict and handle user interaction...so you want to be a programmer, eh?   ;D ;D ;D

On a weird side note, I tried dragging a media file into the editor, and it DID give me the cursor with a (+) symbol beneath the arrow just like if I was dragging a file from one folder to another. But when I let go of the mouse button, nothing happened. I'm guessing that's only because of the window class that you used that the (+) sign got carried along.

Yep, right now it's coded to only process the first MPCPL file it sees out of whatever you drop.  I plan to change the code to process all MPCPL files that are dropped, adding all the contents to the list.

P.S. What caused the error, by the way?

I realised that I had forgotten to update the Help > Contents section so I quickly updated it and recompiled without testing it.  Unfortunately, I was missing an end parenthesis ")".  Boom.     Again, so you want to be a programmer?   :P :P :P

Oh, one more thing. I really like the fact that you provided an INI file, because I really wanted to put the LABEL column to the RIGHT of the FILENAME column, and I CAN!.

You can simply drag-and-drop the columns around and their order and width should be saved.  No need to manually edit the INI file.

I've tested it out on over a dozen (copies) of my MPCPL library, and no problems at all.

Awesome.  That's encouraging to hear at this early stage.

Oh, by the way, just for aesthetic purposes, you might want to make the "Save MPC Playlist" line instead say:

"Save MPC Playlist as"
That way it more closely indicates what it does, because the first time I saved it, I worried for a minute... "Is this going to overwrite the original?"

I actually waffled back and forth on this a bit.  I've added the "as" back in my build.

maybe make the CTRL-S key combo work for that? I mention that last because CTRL-O opens an MPCPL file, so CTRL-S would be a perfect match to it.

This was an oversight on my part and has been added to my build.
