I should add that you can create mapped or web drives to your account and use any software you choose with it. So, for example, I don't use Handy Backup but instead tools like SFFS, BC2, Folder Match, SyncBack, etc.

I am trying to remember from months and months ago.

Set up a synchronization backup and then schedule it to run every 3, 5, 10, 30.... minutes.

I will install the software tonight and see if I can get working and then report back here.

I downloaded, but didn't test yet. I plan on doing that tonight. Also, mousers post about using URL snooper on docs and folders caught my eye. [I don't know if that post was sparked by this thread or not.] But my idea is to put it on a server, use URL snooper to go through all the .doc, .ppt, etc files and grab the URLs and then export as a page that will then be fed to your script. I may end up building something and hanging it on one of my own websites just to make it easier for them.

Here's my use case. URLs are used in course materials as external reference sources. Those links often stop working and we want to be notified so we can update the course materials that use those broken URLs. I want to be able to maintain a list of the URLs, annotated or tagged or grouped by course name, and have the service email when the URLs no longer point to what they used to.

Anybody know of such a service that focuses on this?

I am going to look into using something like delicious for this, but that will be overkill and might be too complicated for the intended end user.

No. It has just been hibernating. :-) Let me put this again on my schedule. It may be a while though as I am busy and will be out of town for a whole week in the first half of next month.

I will use Subversion for my local development and Bazaar when I need distributed. Bazaar can import a dump from Subversion, so it will be easy to migrate up if I need to. The main reason to stick with Subversion is the tool support.

So far this is the best one I've seen. I may just ask him to read this. I am afraid that it will look like too much work to read it all. I am looking for something shorter if written that one could read in a few minutes while waiting for something else. IOW, no time investment other than idle time.
