No none of that. A left over formatted PC to install and trial 10 on it instead of getting another Mac or installing Linux (on the PC). It's fine if 10 has to be bought straight away but I just wondered because with 7 it seemed easier with more obvious links to download from.

So if someone is on a Mac and wants to trial 10 without ever having 7 there is no trial?

A question. Does a Windows 10 trial exist? Like 7 that had 30 day trails.

I am not talking about the pre-release stuff but just someone downloading now in October and trying it before entering a key. All I find now is something about 90 day trial of the Enterpise version  and none for 10 Home  :tellme:

Living Room / Re: Tweets > 140 characters?
« Last post by rgdot on October 02, 2015, 09:49 PM »
Twitter is not platform to keep up with chats, there is no good flow to following conversations compared to a more regular social platform like facebook. Some of the - in my opinion poor - attempts at making it more geared towards friendships and chats is the 'while you were away' and 'highlights' features they have added in recent times. Twitter's strength is at keeping up with "news" where one 140 character unit tells it's own story. I have always liked it more as an excerpt like RSS feed more than conversations and friends. Making modifications to the 140 character will probably not help it become anything more, but it depends what the more is I suppose.

My Chrome tab goes to "Aw snap" as soon as I hover anywhere on those images. Tree or not.

For followup ... I did not end up buying, main reason is that I have so many scattered info managers and similar software that I would not be able to make good use of another one. Having said that I still really like it and my original thought (ie max amount of info viewable in one window) makes this very useful.

Well yes, I meant syncing, over wifi for example. I don't see the point of using third party or cloud services to get something from one of my devices to another one of mine. In my case Dropbox may be an exception but it's the only one of that sort (files everywhere thing) I use and rarely at that.

No affiliation of any kind. 50% off soon on BdJ.

Don't remember seeing it before. I noticed it while browsing BdJ, seems something that would interest me at least, I am always looking for a planner or organizer that puts as much info in front of my eyes as possible. It's like organized post it notes. Now trialling (it's running ok on Wine) it.

Most forums have theme switcher mods (drop down somewhere in the footer) too. I believe smf does but probably not actively maintained if I had to guess.

I used Stylebot for Chrome (https://chrome.googl...aleoha/related?hl=en) and added this for myself

Code: CSS [Select]
  1. div.post_wrapper {
  2.     background-color: #ffffff;
  3. }
  4.
  5. td.stickybg.windowbg.toptictablecol_subject {
  6.     background-color: #ffffff;
  7. }
  8.
  9. td.windowbg.toptictablecol_subject {
  10.     background-color: #ffffff;
  11. }
  12.
  13. blockquote.bbc_standard_quote {
  14.     background-color: #ffffff;
  15. }

This is not a request or want, just a repeat of a personal preference:

My earlier impression stands, few days have passed and I can not get used to background colours of the posts and quotes. The background gets more difficult on my eyes on the page I check for new posts every time (https://www.donation...?action=recent;dense).
I remember mouser mentioned earlier that DC should retain a certain individual look, I would not include text background colours in any individualilty.

I would like to repeat that this is just my so called preference.

If you want me to nitpick I would say the background colours of post (like the text you are reading) is not good and mix that with green background when quoting posts it becomes less good.

Nitpicking, I know :)
