You definitelly are looking for Acer GridVista.
Now, the question here is if it can be used by non-acer computers.
And if there's another alternative.
But i have that software, and it works just perfectlly. Unfortunatelly, my screen is too small to give it some real use.

jgpaiva, i put the shadow on the left edge because i thought that's what you and Carol were recommending to do.

the shadow on the border is something that i'm now thinking ought to be removed altogether ???????????????????????
I must have not explained myself correctly. What i meant was about the 3d effect of the shadow. Right now, on the lower part, it makes sense, because it goes all around the blue object, from left to right, as you raised the lower edge of it.

But the little vertical shadow on the left doesn't make much sense, since there's no object to create any shadow there.

Ok.. I just got to the point. Now i understand why that shadow is there. It's not the blue part that is elevated, but the beije part that is in a hole.
I really would like to see this banner in a webpage... mouser? ;)

I love the new 3d look on the balloons and characters! That looks sooo good!
And the forum one looks perfect :D

Only one suggestion: I think this might make sense in a forum page, but shouldn't the shadow on the left edge not be there?

I must say this is now one of my favourite submissions to this contest :D

(BTW... will there be only one winner? :( I like the idea of having more than one theme, like selectable in the profile or something, but i think this might be too much work...)

another problem is that i've been viewing these banners in isolation instead of how they will actually look when on the web page - the 3D issues you've both mentioned really do look odd now.

that's a lesson learnt - so now i'll be doing my tests with a dummy page in place.
I think another important issue here, is the colour combination. This is a question for mouser: The colours can be changed in order to mach the colors of the banners, right?

;D I could only notice the difference when opening in 2 new windows and fast-switching between them ;)
For me, there's a small issue. Although almost all submissions have this, I think it's a bit strange to have the 3d effect on the cuttout and not on the borders, it looks a bit awkward for the banner to suddenly end on the other borders. I hope I can express myself correctly, does anyone see what i mean?

[edit]Oh, i didn't say, i do like the new version more than the older one ;) [/edit]

Not quite a game, but definitely a time waster! I really enjoyed this one. Could be endless photo exploration fun, if you're so inclined.

Very interesting, not really a flash game, but very entertaining. I love this kind of zoom-in interface!

Usable with one hand - put it on a desk or your knee and its 1 handed. Cf laptop - unless its on your knee or a desk, forget "barely one handed" completely!!
I meant compared to a cell phone ;)
Needing 2 hands to handle it makes it a bit less handy that a regular cell phone. But i don't consider this as a big issue, other than when driving.

Nice... I like the talking heads. Specially the second one, because it gives a more world-wide look of donationcoder.com.
I also support the $ issue, if it's to be there, it should be "disguised".
I think the way wreklessxx made the cut-out part looks better, though.

Oh... I've just noticed that the first one you submited had cody on the background!!  ;D ;D
I wonder how the keys one would look with the 0101 on the background.. ;)

I never really understood why one would buy a PDA over, say a laptop. The only good use I can think of is to run GPS software,...
I wouldn't say so, I own a laptop, and i know how uncomfortable it is carrying it around.
I think i could find some use in a pda, as my university has wireless lan, which means i could be online most of the time.
One friend of mine has one pda, and gives much use to it, either to surf the web, listen to music, or just entertain with little games on the way home in the bus.
The thing is.. PDA's are expensive, and i wouldn't buy one.

On the other hand... A smartphone (something like a qtek, couldn't find better link), really is very useful. My father has one, and since he got it, he can't use any other phone anymore. It really is a big advance from normal phones, because of it's fast note/memo-taking, integration of the notes with phone calls and contacts and good calendar management.
I think that for those that have lots of meetings, and always carry with them a paper agenda, this is fantastic solution.
I only find 2 disadvantages: the price, of course, and the fact that it's barelly usable only with one hand, since you have to hold it with one hand, and use the other for the touch-screen pen.

Great!
Thanks Ampa and Josh!
This will spare much work for mouser, and that's always welcome! :D
Well.. You are now officialy part of the donationcoder.com crew!

[edit] BTW... there's an error on the title of this thread, "DontionCoder" :P [/edit]

Hi Felicia!
Does ProcessKiller work for you? It strange it didn't work for zeemar.
No, no problem, if you don't go over the 4mb of text (which would take like..hum...20k words? ;)), no problem. At least, it shouldn't.
Oh, and to use a big list, maybe you should think about using the command line parameters, so that you don't have to paste the whole line everytime you run it. (just remember that for the commandline parameters, the names of the processes are separated by spaces, and not commas.)
bye!
3741
I think there are some pretty bad stuff in that list. But i surelly wouldn't consider most of them "the worst tech products", there are much worse peices out there. (take for example the nasty "gator", which isn't even featured there, although that's arguable, as gator does do exactlly what it was designed to :S)

As for real player, i surelly wouldn't consider it a bad product. Maybe it's true that there isn't any need for the format itself (although it's a bit superior to microsoft's wmv), but the player sure is great. Apart from always placing a damn process in the startup list, the player is much better than windows media player, at least for DVD's. (it was the only one which allowed me to go over a bug that made DVD's display in a very small size on my computer).

I think i support the previous statements. This looks like a list that someone came up with out of 10 minutes of rant thinking.

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Middle click to close windows in taskbar
« Last post by jgpaiva on May 26, 2006, 12:37 PM »
@ Carol: That might be installed extensions-related. I have the default install, and it works here (although, i don't have the mouse you have).
In opera, it also works like that, and makes much sense.

I've been a big fan of bblean, which is an alternative shell for windows based in linux's blackbox (and a great shell, BTW ;) ), and features the exact idea you're asking for. It was great, and one of the things i most looked for when i got back to using explorer. But unfortunatelly, i couldn't find it.
Let's see if someone can do it :)

On an earlier version of SC, i've had problems with capturing one specific page, could it be related?
Maybe AndyPopely could post the page that is giving this problem, or does this happen in every page opened in ff?

Living Room / Re: Blog Post: The death of Wikipedia
« Last post by jgpaiva on May 25, 2006, 12:28 PM »
Well.. Not being as radical as Martin :P, I'd say wikipedia isn't exactlly available for everyone to edit, and i consider it as a good thing. Not everybody is right, and if wrong information was uploaded, it might induce much people in error.
I think control is important, the important is that the moderation is correctly done.
Though, i don't support the blog's author's opinion, I wouldn't consider wikipedia as "dead" because it is trying to protect itself from spamming/vandalism.
After all, even forums have moderators, and forums don't have the responsability that wikipedia has.

notice how the stability trends downward...

Actually, I don't thing this is a good idea for microsoft. If the linux guys remember to do the same thing and then start comparing those graphics on a normal usage, things could come out bad for microsoft ;)

apologies for taking space in a development forum to ask user questions
Avtually, almost everyone is a user, here ;)
No problems at all, and it's always good to know about bugs.

For the first issue, you don't need to list sub-folders, they are automaticly included.
Do you have the checkbox before the "my documents" folder checked?  This wasn's supposed to happen, i think.

As for the second issue, if you close the options dialog on the close cross, and then bring farr up again, is it still there?

I think mouser might be able to explain something better, as i can't reproduce any of your problems..

[edit]Oh, and BTW... welcome!  :D [/edit]
