thanks quixos-

i have this kind of feature built into directory opus, and i can tell you i really truly love it.

for anyone who doesnt have this feature in their file explorer, it's definitely a very helpful thing to be able to see, so well worth a try.

yeah, you have to give them credit for creativity - the idea of pretending that the attachment was already scanned is clever.

i know that bb flashback are actively fixing the multimon; they may in fact have already fixed it.

we would NEVER send anyone an attached exe and ask you to run it.

i got this in my email today; i don't know if anyone else has gotten or will ever get one of these, but if you do, its a virus trick, and not from us:

"Dear Donationcoder Member,

Your e-mail account was used to send a huge amount of unsolicited spam messages during the recent week. If you could please take 5-10
minutes out of your online experience and confirm the attached document so you will not run into any future problems with the online
service.

If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to cancel your membership.

Virtually yours,

total fake email - always beware such things - never execute any attached exes even if your mom sends it to you and says it's your birthday present.

new version (1.20) uploaded with fix:

1.20 - 06/29/05
bugfix for problem reported by scott on the forum:
   https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=222.0
System Path Commander 1.18 changed the data type of the Path value from
its default of REG_EXPAND_SZ, to REG_SZ, which could cause windows to
fail to expand path variables like %SystemRoot% - thanks scott!
new versions of spc will autocorrect this issue when run for the first time.

thanks chr for the super fast fix, and thanks scott for spotting the issue and diagnosing.

Mouser's Zone / Re: recent document timeline
« Last post by mouser on June 29, 2005, 01:39 PM »
i wonder if it might be fun to make a program called

Screenshot Timeline of App Usage (STAU)

basically it would do this:
take a screenshot of every time the current foreground window (currently used app) changes.

and then you could view this almost exactly like the adobe album sliding timeline.

so you could see visually how long you spent in each app with each document before changing..
could be fun..

who was it that was going to write up a little something on Powerpro?

our new mini-user-review section of the forum would be an ideal place for it

ProcessTamer / Re: Final version
« Last post by mouser on June 29, 2005, 10:43 AM »
the latest beta is completely stable and could very well be called a final release..
i probably would have called it final if i had known it would be so long before doing more updates.

here is my plan wrt coding:
my first responsibility is to finish the new Cheat Sheeter app, and get some sample stylesheets and help packs available so that other authors can see how to make new sheet packs for it.
after that i will work on major improvements to Find&Run Robot and Process Tamer.
the additions to Process Tamer are less open ended than those that will be made to F&R; mainly a new taming algorithm as described in this section and some minor improvements.
Haven't decided yet which one to do first.

well it seems you found a super important bug;
i will try to contact chr today and get a new version uploaded asap.
until then, as you say the workaround would be to open the control panel and edit the system path and resave, which should reset it.

Living Room / Re: vmware workstation with agnitum outpost firewall rules?
« Last post by mouser on June 29, 2005, 05:40 AM »
i might be able to help with this.

i have vmware running with agnitum well, in the normal Rules mode.

here is what i had to do:
In agnitum options, System tab, Rules:
I added a RULE that said to allow all traffic in and out from the particular ip that my vmware runs as
(ie on my lan its 192.168.0.5).

note that this is not an APPLICATION RULE, but rather a SYSTEM RULE.

this works perfectly and everything else stays tight as a drum (note that you can also run an independent firewall on the virtual operating system to block incoming and outgoing traffic from WITHIN the vmware).

one caveat:
in the past (haven't checked recently), i had to DISABLE this system rule when i tried things like running an ftp server on my main machine.  just something to be aware of if you have troubles in this regard.

this is just a replacement exe; copy it over existing one.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Feature Request Thread
« Last post by mouser on June 29, 2005, 12:15 AM »
yeah i don' know yet, i was just playing with ideas..
it would probably be more oriented to more interactive search.

so for example the current interface is designed to be very minimal, so it can just pop up, list only top 10 items or so, and let you activate by pressing number key.

but for those of you who want to use it to do real search of files,
i'm guessing that having a tiny interface with top 10 results might not be your primary concern;
you may be more interested in more easily adjusting areas searched, and having more flexibility with regard to results.

that kind of pricing really upsets me.
it's a conscious decision to completely ignore individual users and only sell to businesses.

yeah, i wasn't disagreeing with idea of different configurations,
i was just trying to think out loud about the idea that f&r might he able to be configured to run in two very different ways.

do you have multimonitor?

it's a common problem with apps not designed for multimonitor that when they try to display a dialog centered on screen it ends up half off.

other times it happens is when the last time it was on screen you had a different resolution.

if you want some web page/ftp space for several tools we'd be happy to do that as well.
