v1.0.5 - 2011-02-04
+ Size and position of the main form is now saved.
+ Added "Don't auto-number lines" option.  This is useful, in conjunction
with the other options, to strip or clean lines of their whitespace and
numbers without adding in the auto-generated index.  (Thanks, J.
      Fitzsimons)
    * Changed the one "Clear & Paste" button to two, discrete buttons.  (Thanks,
      J. Fitzsimons)
! Fixed a regular expression match issue where stripping numerals didn't
work if they weren't immediately followed by a period or right
      parenthesis.  (Thanks, J. Fitzsimons)
! "Pad to" value wasn't being saved.

If I ask for further changes could you implement them yesterday?

Your further changes are already in there.   :P

From a (Windows) programming standpoint, these kind of shenanigans are normal... ;)

  • Remove the 'DropZone' title from the Window (or make it editable)
  • Remove the border from the Window, or make it 1 pixel thick
  • Set the window colour so as to distinguish very quickly between different zones (I have a couple running already)
  • Make it sticky to screen and/or window borders

http://skwire.dcmembers.com/apps/drop_zone/DropZone.zip

The first three are implemented including font colors.  Just add the following two keys to the [Settings] section and use hex colours e.g.:

BackColor=00FFFF
ForeColor=0000FF

Delete the entries or leave them blank to disable.  I will pass on your fourth request since I use allSnap to accomplish this functionality.

+ Snap DB is now Unicode capable.  Notes:
        # This version is supported by WinXP and up.  Older operating systems
will need to use the SnapDB_ANSI.exe file instead.
        # Database files are read and written in UTF-8 format.
+ Added Ctrl-Shift-O hotkey for opening the Options dialog.
    * Changed the copy-to-clipboard delimiter to allow more than just one
      character.  (Thanks, Winkie)
! Fixed GUI glitches with Add/Update/Insert and Options dialogs.  (Thanks,

Just one teensy problem - it always starts up in the centre of my main monitor. The ini file values look ok.

I'm an idiot.  :-[ Please clear your cache and re-download.  Should be build 0.0.0.11 now.  Sorry about that.

Could you support AMR files ?
It's a format used by cell phones to record voice

Hi, kilele.  Trout uses the BASS library which doesn't support the AMR format.  Apologies.

and/or tabs from the leading part of a line.

I have decided to have only Filename checked. I pushed a vertical line to the right so it is aligned with Trout border line. When I drag and drop a file into it, border moves to the left again.
Can I prevent that?

Do you have the following checked?: Menu > View > Auto-justify columns on load

And please add Select all, Select none under View-Columns.

Agreed.  I need to update that to a list with checkboxes like some of my other apps.

Hmm... the last update seems to have introduced a new bug, not involving any rewinding or forwarding. Trout sometimes goes to "pause" by itself, keeping the same track loaded (if you press play, it will play the previous track again). I didn't find a way to reproduce it reliably yet.

I've never experienced this.  Has anybody else seen what brotherS is describing?

I've already heard from Sunbelt. Your website has an older version so I pointed them to the latest version. The version they tried scans clean, and weirdly, if I manually scan just my ClipTrap folder it scans clean as well.

Hmmm...I'm showing that the download itself is the v1.0.4 zipfile even though the page says v1.0.3.  I wonder where they got an older version from?

I think I addressed everybody's requests and bug reports with this build.  I also added in several new bits so please make sure to read through the changelog.  Thanks for feedback, all.

v1.1.3 - 2011-02-01
+ Added 'Run' and 'Clipboard' buttons to the Add/Update/Insert dialog.  The
'Run' feature will attempt to execute data that meet the following
      criteria:
        # A file or folder e.g.: c:\path\to\my.exe, c:\path\to\image.png
        # A URI/URL with "://" in it e.g. http://www.site.com
        # 'mailto:' links e.g. mailto:[email protected]
+ Added row-copying capabilities.  You can set a custom delimiter to use
under Options.  There are three ways to invoke this feature:
        # Edit menu.
        # Ctrl-C hotkey.
        # Toolbar button.
+ Added Ctrl-V hotkey to paste in a tab-delimited block.  This will allow
you to copy rows with Ctrl-C and paste them in directly so long as you
have 'Tab' set for the delimiter to use when copying rows (under Options).
+ Added 'Duplicate record' toolbar button.  (Thanks, Winkie)
+ Added "Sum columns" feature and toolbar button.  This feature will attempt
to sum any columns containing numbers.  It will ADD two extra
lines/records at the end of the list with the totals.  YOU are
responsilble for deleting these lines or keeping them by saving.  If
present, these new lines/records are considered in the next invocation of
the 'Sum columns' feature.  In other words, Snap DB has no idea if those
records are totals or regular data.  (Thanks, Beth UK)
    * Add/Update/Insert fields will now appear in the same order as the columns.
      (Thanks, Winkie)
    * Changed 'Options' toolbar icon.
! Duplicating a record now sets modified state to true.
! If you closed out of an Update window, you could no longer insert records.
! Stale data was kept after closing out of an Add/Update/Insert window.
      (Thanks, Winkie)
! Filter drop-down list no longer resets when updating records, only when
adding or deleting a column.  (Thanks, alexsan01)

Thought you'd be delighted to know that ClipTrap is flagged as a Trojan by Sunbelt/GFI's VIPRE. Perhaps it secretly steals DonationCredits, a sure-fire way to earn millions.

Hehehe...I'm not quitting my day job just yet.   :D  Which version are you runing?  v1.0.4 scans clean at Jotti.

I've notified Sunbelt of the false positive.

Thanks.  Much appreciated.

Great app! Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome.  I'm glad you find it useful.

Is it possible with this app to remove numbers from a list?

Yes, this is actually the first item on the ToDo list.  Trout, Ten Timer and Snap DB have been taking my time lately but I promise to get to this one as well.
