Try going to the "Launching Files" option and look at the checkbox for "Use file launch helper utility" and try unchecking that.
If that doesn't help try changing the "Launch Method".
I'm thinking something might be blocking the helper utility.

Just watched it.  Very nice.
We are always told how well compilers can optimize code, but it's nice to see just how seriously the C++ compilers take their job of optimizing code.

One of the other things that this video hammers home is how much of the new C++ language features are designed to help the programmer write in verbose, elegant, human-readable object oriented code, while at the same time helping the compiler to optimize most of that away into nothingness.

It sounds like you are basically diagnosing the problem correctly and trying to solve it in the correct way.

It may simply be a matter of it putting the ini file in a SUBDIRECTORY of D:\documents.

Here are a couple of things to try:
  • 1. Exit SC and restart it, to eliminate the possibility of it being confused by starting up right when windows boots.
  • 2. Exit SC and see if you can find where IT is saving the ScreenshotCaptor.ini file.   Maybe delete (move) the one you manually put someplace, and find the one IT creates.  Then you will know where it thinks it should be saving it.
  • 3. That should confirm for you whether it is seeing your ConfigDir.ini file at least.  Look in the parent directory of the Screenshots folder.
  • 4. Confirm whether it is "forgetting settings" even when you exit and restart it -- or if this is only happening on reboot.

Living Room / Beware Google Docs Phishing Scam Today and How to Fix
« Last post by mouser on May 03, 2017, 09:31 PM »
A particularly convincing looking and wide spread phishing scam went out to lots of people today, appearing to come from a google docs sharing email.

More info here:

A widely reported e-mail purporting to be a request to share a Google Docs document is actually a well-disguised phishing attack. It directs the user to a lookalike site and grants the site access to the target's Google credentials. If the victim clicks on the prompt to give the site permission to use Google credentials, the phish then harvests all the contacts in the victim's Gmail address book and adds them to its list of targets. The phish appears to have been initially targeted at a number of reporters, but it quickly spread widely across the Internet. Some of the sites associated with the attack appear to have been shut down.

How to deal with it if you got tricked into clicking it:

It’s not that this is some “website that looks like google” and is “duplicating the google sign-in page”. It’s an actual Google Doc app, that you have to give permission to access your account details. That’s what makes it so dangerous, that it’s acting as a normal app would, requiring normal google authentication and authorization. It doesn’t gain access to your credentials, but the permissions it requests gives it access to a hell of a lot of stuff in your account. You have to revoke the app permissions at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions if you gave it access. People are saying on twitter “change your password”, but that won’t revoke access, you have to actively revoke access to disconnect the malicious app from your account. Click on each app in the list, any that are listed for today (or whenever you clicked through the email), revoke it to be safe. For me, it was called something like “Google Docs”, but may not be the same for everyone.

Try the "Background Display" options of your Launch Bar:

You may also have to change the "Appearance Skin" option which can be found on the main "Options" node and then "Program Options 2" tab.

The embarassing truth is that another DC member posted about the probably GDI leak a long time ago and I never got around to investigating it...

At least now I can more easily track it down and solve it.  Stay tuned I hope to have a fix up for testing as soon as possible.

Yeah that's worth looking at.

Here's the Process Explorer download page: https://technet.micr...processexplorer.aspx

What you want to do is double-click on ScreenshotCaptor.exe to bring up the properties dialog and then click the "Performance" tab to give you something like this:
Screenshot - 5_3_2017 , 3_36_00 AM.png

What we care about most are the "Handles" values.

Since you report that "The most recent time it hung, it had created 1034 files in the first day's directory and then switched to the second day and had created 694 files in there before it stopped", it would be interesting to see the Process Explorer handles numbers at 4 times:
  • 1. When the program starts up.
  • 2. After about 500 screenshots.
  • 3. After about 1000 screenshots.
  • 4. When it hangs.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Icon - Custom on Files & Font Size
« Last post by mouser on May 02, 2017, 07:48 PM »
Can I set my own icon for the text file that is shown in the menu?.. Can i set a custom icon to each file type thats shown in a directory
No and that is not likely to be something I would add.

How do I make the fontsize of the icons text larger
There is no way to change the icons in the menus YET, but that sounds like something I could add.

And you say the icon is the red color that it normally only briefly turns while capturing?
I think the best way to identify the problem -- if you are willing -- is for me to send you a debug version that will log some messages to a file while it's running and help me see where it gets stuck.
