For some people updating nVidia drivers fixes the problem. Don't know if that's relevant to you.

This 'problem' is one of those things that doesn't really matter but annoys the heck out of one nonetheless.

OK - since this is DonationCoder, how about ridiculously obsolete computer languages that you spent time learning but will never use again? For me:
Rexx - scripting language for IBM mainframes and OS/2

Hey!  I resemble that remark!  I use Rexx daily on XP, currently this variant (ooRexx).

LP's are making a comeback, though

I used to have a player for 45's in my car (best used when stationary).

When I were a lad we had enough food, plenty of money, and could drive to and from school... and it was downhill, both ways.

currently PAste works only on WHITE background only.

Aha!

That rules out most things for me... pity.

Is that going to change, later?

On my first try I was in a hurry and had no luck.

I thought I'd say here what I did wrong, in case anyone else stumbles in the same manner.

I selected text and held down the mouse button -- 'C' appeared and text was copied fine.
I moved to a different application and held down the mouse button -- 'P' appeared, nothing was pasted,  'P' vanished -- no text inserted.

What I didn't realize is that I should release the mouse button while 'P' is visible, not just wait with the button held down.

Having confirmed to the world that I have trouble with 'Dick and Jane' I still hope that this might help someone else.
I aspire to be a moron some day but it won't be soon.

Can't tell you how many times I've found myself reaching up to squash that little gnat thing you've got. But I guess that's the whole idea isn't it?

See if you can frighten it away... give it an ant-y glare

Can you apply Aardvark to the trains?

there's a name for that mix .. cant remember it though
-Tomos
Oh, when I ordered a snakebite at some pub here in rhus some months ago, the Strongbow cider wasn't mixed with Guinness (which would've been nice, I bet) but with something blackcurrant-ish.
-f0dder

Black satin.
Some used to refer to it as Black Velvet, which is really G & champagne.
Good luck finding champagne in some of my old haunts, or Guinness in others, depending on which part of town  :)

by sticking a hot poker from the fire into your glass of wine and throw in a couple of spices - but that could be a myth of course

I should mull it over, you wouldn't want to myth with a red-hot poker!

« Last post by cranioscopical on October 09, 2008, 02:51 PM »
Yes... I thought it a bit gratuitous as well, particularly considering his return was being touted (in the preceding paragraph) as signalling his re-committment to helping his loyal readers! Funny, too, Brian Livingston's take on the four stops Langa made during his motorcycle trip:
-Darwin

Whether from Langa or WS, it came under my general heading of "Too Much Information".  :)

The entire WS approach now seems to be we'll do you a favour... for a buck or three. At least they're up front about it.

I'm not quite sure if I abhor or admire the relentless self-promotion in which WS indulges.
For myself, I'm grateful that I don't need to resort to such an approach in order to earn a dollar here and there.

Apple are petty enough to sue... witness the legal action they are taking against a small computer school in Victoria, BC:

Rotten to the core... this kind of thing gives one the pip.

couldnt they have told a white lie

To be fair to WS, he did write about it himself in one of his blogs (goodness only knows why).
Perhaps he thinks of his readers as friends, some certainly seem to think that way about him.

You could try this one:
File Alert Monitor

Also, if you played with this, I think you might tune it to do what you want:
Process Monitor

Good luck!

Just unpacked, but not yet even close to be taken into use:

Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo Pi 2680 - E01 (desktop medium sized tower)
Vista Home Premium (OEM, no disc)
2x2 GB DDR2 RAM
2x500 GB SATA
Intel QuadCore2
NVidia GeForce 9600GT 512 MB

That'll improve performance somewhat  :)
