It's curious.. This is already the third time someone asks for this.

Here's the links:

(maybe people keep asking because it's not really solved.)

SAE140: would you like to just have a bunch o stuff running when the screensaver starts and keep running, or would you like to have them running only while the screensaver is active?

Congratulations f0dder!

I definitelly like the following quotes:

As an opera user (or should i say lover? ;) ), i find this very interesting, and a great oportunity for opera!
I just love the way they made the way they took advantage of the dual-screen layout! Here's a screenshot:

Great post, JavaJones, i think this might be something really interesting to look into!
Just add it some screenshots, and your post is very close to a mini-review ;)

[edit] BTW, you're 1 post away from 100, don't forget to post on the 100 posts thread ;) [/edit]

Seems pretty silly of the site to do something like that.
I think f0dder is the only one who understood what i mean. This is not one of those rendering errors.
I believe this was intentional, since there's distinction where there's no need, since in any other betanews page, i can download the files using opera, this is the only one that redirects.

Ok... Following up on the following message: https://www.donation...56.msg27826#msg27826
I'm protesting against browser racism!

How is this possible? In that thread, kimmchii mentioned he could download the file from betanews and i couldn't. The problem was that i was under opera and kimmchii was using firefox. When i tried using ff, it also worked for me.
(notice that this must have been intended, since opera is redirected to another site, and firefox is given the download)

Is this normal, have you ever seen other cases of "browser xenophobia"?

it is quite simple, just 2 clicks:
1)http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Microsoft_Windows_Vista_English_32bit/1149728719/1

2)download now.
Not quite... Loads of work to download the OS! the "download now" link takes you to microsoft's ultra-bloated site where you never can find anything. Then you have to look for the download link, register a "live id" if you don't have one, and then, finally, download it.
Then, you just have to wait for the 3.2 gb download to end ;)

 8) Nice Phil!
You could add a number of repetitions, though. So that i could take a bunch of tries, and see who gets the best score.

This might be a good way to make decisions in life...

Living Room / Re: Do we care about HD-DVD/Blu-Ray?
« Last post by jgpaiva on June 08, 2006, 07:51 AM »
@zridling: great post.
I absolutely agree with you. It's stupid to be always replacing the hardware "only because 5 years have passed".
It is my opinion that in terms of movies (or music), the switch from dvd to hd-dvd/blu ray is meaningless. It just won't matter, since dvd's already provide enough space. The only difference is that one movie box won't come with 2 dvds (one with the movie, and another one full of crap in most cases), but only with one hd-dvd.

I believe there's only 3 fields that will win with this: backup storage, games, and mass illegal downloaders, which download every single crap they find in the internet, and spend half of their life recording dvds.

For me, the only reason that would make me switch is if i bought a new laptop at the same price i bought my current one, and it came with a hd-dvd recorder. And i'd be glad, only because i'd be able do to decent full-disk backups. (or maybe not, since at the time, the disk/hd-dvd relation will be about the same it is right now)

@carol: I'm not a big expert in regex, but i think that this should do it:
carol.*carol.*carol+.*
At least, it worked in farr's regex parser ;)

I've been using this for a while, and i found out that i constantly snap windows to the grid without really wanting to do that. Doesn't that happen to you?
I always forget i have the program on, and drag the windows during too much time.

I'm thinking.. Maybe i could add a transparent button to the caption of every window, that had the snapping functionality. I mean, if you dragged the window elsewhere, it'd have no effect, but if you dragged the window by that button, it'd snap the window. This would also take out the need for waiting for the grid to appear.

What do you think?

Find And Run Robot / Re: Using FARR with custom Opera (9b2) searches
« Last post by jgpaiva on June 08, 2006, 05:47 AM »
One other thing... with the alias named starting with Opera (I used "Opera Search") if I launch FRR to open Opera, I only get the alias as a result, the exe's no longer show.  I tried decreasing the alias from 1000 to 100 but to no avail.
Oh, i think what your problem is. Go to the options menu, and under the tab "interface", uncheck "Stop search on exact alias match" ;)

I understand the problem with aliases, the regular expressions feature can scare people away. On the other hand, it's the most powerful feature about it!  :D

Anyone actually ever tried this? I can't believe it works, it's just as they say, in the video comments:
What happens when you combine 200 liters of Diet Coke and over 500 Mentos mints? It's amazing and completely insane.
Insane really is the only description i can find!  ;D ;D ;D

HeHe... Alias have a bunch of useful features, actually ;)
You got that behaviour while using the alias i posted?
Try placing " " before and after the name:
"c:\program files\opera 9 beta\opera.exe" "$$1"

Ok... Here's a way to create a group alias, that you can type:

o g foobar

and it'll search for foobar in opera. This will work for everything defined in opera.
Remember that you'll have to change the path to the path where you have opera installed. I you'd like to use another prefix, just replace 'o' for anything else. (leave the ^ at the beggining of the prefix).

having a low maximum volume on the handset
I'm not sure if you already know about this, because it might be in the manual of your qtek, but it wasn't in my father's qtek manual.
You can put it on speaker by pressing the "call" button, and keeping it pressed.

(probably it's stupid to tell you this, but i read the whole manual of the qtek 2020i, and this was not mentioned anywhere)
