yep, escape cancel needs to be made to work too.

basically here is what i hope to do:

1) capturing of windows objects + windows should be made not to trigger on left click of mouse.
2) instead they should draw a little border around the current object to be captured as you move your mouse so you can see what you are going to capture.
3) then when you are happy with the selection (and you should be able to select a menu too)
4) you hit ctrl+left click of mouse, and it captures
5) or escape to cancel.

sound good?

Activation/License/Language Help / A Reminder: postcards for donators
« Last post by mouser on August 20, 2005, 08:26 AM »
from https://www.donation...ialNonUsWelcome.html

"Many of the visitors to DonationCoder.com are from overseas, and even though PayPal, the donation payment system we use, tries to do a good job of supporting overseas payments, we understand that it takes an extra bit of time and effort to make a donation from overseas.

So, to show you how much we appreciate the extra time and effort on your part in making a donation from overseas, we will make you a deal.

If you make a donation from overseas, and you would like a postcard from the United States, just provide your mailing address and a comment saying "please send me a postcard", and one of us will personally send you a postcard with a little thank you message from DonationCoder.com (postcard pictures may be of random animals or inanimate objects from our office)."

domestic donators who also want a special postcard from my cat may also request them - i will leave it up to my cat to decide whether or not to send these, on a case by case basis ;)

i think carol is generally right - a central principal of sc was make sc work well with other apps, so that sc doesnt have to do everything.
so we should focus on things that are hard to do using other applications.
and i agree also that we should probably think of sc as capturing to its user-configurable directory, as a kind of working directory, and not try to make a full file browser type thing out of it.

having a good program to list changes in files and registry is important - we need to do a review on this category of tool soon.
i have been unsing ashampoo uninstaller for this purpose, and its quite good at reporting registry and file changes/additions/deletions, but there are probably better tools too.

chs will have tons of new features added, including capturing all formats, etc.
just taking a breather to update some of the other programs while the chs ideas marinate :)

:) ok well i don't mind adding stuff thats easy to add :)

the graphic component is thanked in help file, it is ImageEn:

http://www.hicomponents.com/nimageen.asp

i don't see much documentation about filters though.

yes good idea to add some links to some good freeware graphics editors in help file.

i've been looking at capture of scrolling windows - i hope to add it in future version.
timer time is configurable in options, (its in general settings tab, far right).

yes, what we need to do is improve object capture mode, so that it 1) works with menus and 2) triggers on like alt+click so that you can use single mouse click to trigger menus even before capture - i'm working on this.  it will be solved.

i'll add a hotkey for it if you want, though ctrl+a is no good since it does select-all in the browse dialog.
yes i believe i can make the preview sticky.

the one thing im happy about with new version wrt hotkeys is if you click tray you see the custom hotkeys youve configured for each capture mode, so its a good way if you forget just right click on tray icon for a reminder.

i checked the settings and can't find any settings that should block you from being able to start a new topic.
what does it say when you try to do it?

ability to send urls to programs still exists, you configure the apps to send to from the options.
you can configure any applications that take urls on commandline.

can't create new topics? that should not be - let me look into it.

i am going to try to update all of the donation coder apps in the next month with the requests that have been building up and your issues are at top of the list.

im not sure though about referer and useragent.. is actually a good idea if the information can be retrieved - i'll look into it.

personally i think they are kind of useless -
for all such things you are better off configuring an external editor to use with screenshot captor and using that,
but i thought i would add it anyway since its a built in part of the image processing component.

just bumping this up a bit - WhoLockMe (http://www.dr-hoiby..../WhoLockMe/index.php) saved me today, showing me that some annoying phantom copy of winhelp was locking a directory i was trying to rename.

if you ever find windows reporting a file/folder is in use and wont let you delete/rename it, and you cant figure out why, one of these tools is just what you need.

https://www.donation...ScreenshotCaptor.exe

latest version - i've removed the drawing tools from the toolbar so that don't confuse people; they will be back when the functions are implemented.  i'd like to release this soon to the public and then we can add the drawing functions in the next version.

v1.02.02 - 8/19/05
added color modification effects dialog to SpecialEffects menu
added redo support
improved resize dialog to make it easier to add even borders
moved options button on toolbar to top
added autoprint option to OnCapture tab
added support for deluxe universal donationcoder license keys
improved about box
hold ctrl key down while selecting item from MoveTo menu to navigate to directory instead of moving to it
36093
i think we are in danger of growing 10000 menus and confusing people.
i think its probably a good thing to think of screenshot captor as using one directory to store all your screenshots until you want to move them into a permanent place.. so maybe too much moving around and saving copies in dif. places should not be encouraged, just for simplicity.  not sure though..
36094
that is what the moveto menu currently does, it lets you set up your own list of favorite folders to move stuff to.
and yes, this is what i was thinking w.r.t. jumpto - maybe it would be useful to let user navigate to those folders as well..
36095
you are right about adding pixels to border - i will try to make a better dialog.  i see your point exactly.

i will give some more thought to macros - i could add them, i just wonder how much use they would get in a program like this, probably not much.
36096
keep the ideas coming :)

the problem is that it would be moving the file, so the file would dissapear if its not in the current directory, and you would lose it from view immediately, so it might be confusing.  as you say it might be a tool just for advanced users so maybe i can just add it quietly :)

i also sometimes zip up or extract big cd sized directories.
once feature that would be nice (not sure if any have this), would be a "pause/unpause" feature.

« Last post by mouser on August 19, 2005, 04:32 PM »
that's a good idea - i will do it.
it will be easier now that we won't be segrating member downloads from public downloads, now we can just have one download area, with two versions of each program latest and last stable.
