hahaha.
i agree quicktime sucks.
in fact count me among the apple haters.

i think the whole debacle with apple mice shows exactly what the company focuses on - appearance over function.

its hard to remember them because i usually run (not walk) to the uninstall control panel :)
but i do have to say i have a personal hatred for photoshop interface, even though i know its not the worst i've seen by far.

im not a fan of skinned stuff like winamp - i find it very painful to use.

Drag&Drop Robot / v1.09.02 released
« Last post by mouser on September 03, 2005, 12:26 AM »
Version 1.09.02
bugfix: there was a problem launching batch files (thanks again bill gates for the insane quoting rules for createprocess).
added browse for file button
replacing command file with browse button or drag and drop now preserves arguments
save as directory now defaults to config file directory
if file parameter does not exist as a file, it is now used as is (useful for non-standard use of file box)
updated help file
added select-all submenu in output as well as ctrl+a key
added better warnings when command not found
added help file instructions on how to run things like perl, python scripts, etc.
bugfix: config file directory was not being set properly on first run

see download on release page (click downloads button on forum navigator bar)

fixed, see latest post here.

having multiple entries in an alias is very useful -
they will show up in the results list when you type the name of the alias and you can choose between them.

note that url launching was not until recently appreciated by me as a real desired use of f&r, that's why support for it is not perfect.  but new releases will fix this, and we'll get it working perfectly.  support for searching firefox bookmarks is also coming.

the help file needs a little updating, but group aliases are in their under config -> aliases.

« Last post by mouser on September 02, 2005, 09:29 PM »
as far as using email,
i understand that the lastest version beta 1.1 of smf (which we don't use here - we are using the standard 1.0.x series here), has good support for being notified by email about replied to threads.
and there is a mod that lets people post by email.

however, i don't know any forum that's really set up well for making the forum work perfectly both as a forum and as an email mailing list, which is kind of a shame since that would be a cool feature.  maybe there is some forum that will do this but i don't know of any.

congrats carol!

its very easy to make only certain sections available to certain people.
you just set up some member groups,
then you put people in different groups,
and you can say for each section of the forum which groups are allowed to access which sections.

bookmarked threads would be kind of nice idea.

there is a "mark as unread" button already :)

what checkboxes are you talking about?

by the way, there is a forum for the software that runs this board, Simple Machines Forum (SMF):

lockergnome is a great place that has been around a long time. (Lockergnome's Window's Fanatic newsletter: http://channels.lockergnome.com/windows/)

it's nice to see The Form Letter Machine get some attention sinch it's such a strange application that can't be of much use to most people.

The Form Letter Machine / TheBat plugin for The Form Letter Machine
« Last post by mouser on September 02, 2005, 12:21 PM »
jibz wrote an addon for thebat that can, among other things integrate The Form Letter Machine with TheBat to make them work really well together.  It needs a little documentation before we make it available, but if there is some interest in this i can try to get it done.

yes, i will be doing exactly this.  and also as discussed in another thread, you will be able to copy the key to windows\system and it will never need to be entered for any other programs.  just need to finish updating some of our other programs before i get to that :)

jdmarch, you may have downloaded a key before you were upgraded to charter member status, the freeware keys need to be renewed every 180 days.  go back to https://www.donationcoder.com/Keys and grab your universal non-expiring key and replace that from about box.

i will check the alias matching you cite - as you say both should show, although aliases are usually used by typing the full alias.

i will fix url listing, i think youve found some bugs in it.

« Last post by mouser on September 02, 2005, 06:20 AM »
the new screenshot captor already supports a little clipart browser, and will use any packs you copy into its clipart directory, so this is indeed very easy to do..

users can always just download the entire open clipart pack, or use their own non-opensource clipart.. i just want to provide a basic set to start people off.  rotation is supported (though unfortunately only 90 degree intervals).

i expect to have the new version of screenshot captor up on monday - all the new features are implemented but there are quite a few rough spots that need to be smoothed over.

i also still need to find some picture frames.

General Review Discussion / Re: Vote for what Review to do Next
« Last post by mouser on September 02, 2005, 04:04 AM »
i quit jot+ and was not able to migrate my notes but just thought i would start over.. i still use the old jot+ version 2 to read my old notes file when i need it.

believe it or not i have been using a help file making tool to hold my notes - i thought i was being clever as it would enable me to make cool compiled help .chm versions of my notes.  however i overlooked the fact that such a feature is mostly useless for me.

i plan to use Clipboard Help+Spell to keep my notes when i finish the program :)

ps.
i like working at night.

we have some keynote (freeware) fans on this site, and i also like treepad.
