I'd recommend a IE frontend browser, like Slimbrowser (my favorite), Maxthon, etc... 100% IE compatibility and many new features. All of them with tabbed browsing...

Thanks for the quick coding reply. :) Exactly the tool I was asking for.  :up:

I can report the same results like mouser. Mouse buttons disabled. Windows, Start and all keys disabled. Multimedia keys + Print/Break still working.

Clean'n'Go also fails on such keys, so I'm not sure if these special keys can be disabled. Guess I just have to be careful with some few keys (especially with standby)...

A little utility to assist the user in cleaning the keyboard / mouse without turning off the PC.

So for keyboard cleaning the application would disable the keyboard (and I guess this is the tricky part: all special keys (multimedia keys, windows))... click with the mouse and keyboard is enabled again.

For mouse cleaning the application would disable the mouse (and all extra mouse buttons, like thumb or wheel button). Press a key and it's enabled again.

An application like this exists... http://www.crystalso....com.au/cleango.html. But I'm too cheap to dish out $10 for such tool  :-[, and don't need a fancy GUI or cleaning instructions.

I found a freeware version years ago called Clean'm Up (no homepage), but it fails on the special keys... The Windows key would still work, even if the keyboard is disabled.

Since Windows 2000 Windows supports several keyboard layouts (Region settings) and even allows to configure system-wide shortcuts to switch between keyboard layouts.

So all you've to do is to hit a shortcut every time you change a IRC channel.

I agree. Using 0-0 would make more sense.

I'm not sure how your tool is calculating the time, but adding a routine like "if hour = 24 (12 AM) then read ini_hour 0" should work.

RJL software has a collection of pranks. AFAIK, most of them can be disabled quite easy (moving mouse to top left corner).

okay, i must sound petty. but when it's happens over and over again during the day it starts to become tiresome. i'm not just talking about putting files into the recycle bin - i'm annoyed with how all dialog windows appear in the center of your monitor, thereby interrupting your workflow and having to move the cursor back and forth, back and forth, just for a simple click.


Back in Windows 3.11 I liked a tool called "Squeaky Mouse" by someone called 'ike' so much, I sent cash over to Japan and wanted to register it. Too bad my cash never reached the author and development stopped anyway. It never made it to Windows 95.

This tool would do exactly what you're looking for, just in the other way. Not move the boxes to the mouse cursor, but move the mouse cursor to the boxes.

If a message box appears, it'd move the mouse cursor to the default button. And here's the big difference: Once clicked, the program would move the cursor back to its previous position. So, you'd answer the message box, but the mouse cursor would be in the same position.

Another difference to other mouse cursor placement programs/mouse drivers: The mouse would run towards the button, no instant placement (jumping). So you'd really see it moving. The movement speed could be adjusted *and* if you'd move the mouse cursor while "Squeaky" was in control, it'd abort the operation and release the mouse cursor.

Another option was a black list, for application to leave unbothered.

FWIW, the program was called Squeaky Mouse, because each time it'd take over it turned the mouse cursor into a running mouse and do a "Squeaky" noise. :)

I'd love to see a tool like this again. It really lowered the need to move the mouse... But I guess there's a reason development stopped. ;)

Rainlendar (desktop calendar/todo/notes) - Wonderful Icon (keyboard shortcuts) - Workrave (RSI prevention) - StrokeIt (mouse gestures) - ArsClip (clipboard memory) - DaemonTools (virtual drives) - Copy Handler (shell enhancement for copying/moving) - ActiveCPU (displays CPU load) - Volume control (Windows standard) - Girder (remote control, not freeware) - AdSubtract (removes ad-banners, not freeware) - TemporalityScreens  - Find&Run Robot - Winamp - and most important, since I'm using W2K: Tray Manager (to move task tray symbols in a sub-menu). So, actually, there're just four icons visible.

Regarding joliet... Sorry, I guess I told some BS.  :-[ I remember the limit used to be 64 chars with Nero. Probably they changed that. I've tested it now and the file name limit is now 102 chars, regardless of path.

Anyway... 102 is plenty, so I guess there's no extra check required. But thanks for adding two decimals. :)

Two requests/suggestions:

  • Option to warn if filename is longer than 64 chars (maximum for joliet)
  • two positions after decimal point in KB/MB/GB... so I'd see "4,37 GB" instead of "4,3 GB".
