N.A.N.Y. 2012 / Re: NANY 2012 RELEASE: Portable Extension Warlock
« Last post by hamradio on April 19, 2014, 05:39 PM »
Feature Request:

Open with dialog should only appear when I hover the file for more than two second, otherwise it should open by default application.

I hope it will help everyone.

Thanks

I think that would be not possible to do, since it does not run in the background monitoring everything launched if you are sending it directly to the main launcher.

However if you are using the drop zone for it (which basically just redirects the dropped filename to the main launcher at this time)...I might be able to do something to make it launch the first program that it finds from the list you added of programs that can handle the extension.

Site/Forum Features / Re: Smiley Extra Spaces
« Last post by hamradio on February 19, 2014, 08:00 PM »
I always thought that was so it would have a space before the smiley after a sentence/word, but I am not sure if that's the official reason.

But the effect(s) won't be perfect if you want to just save it as a jpg, then have to go into another tool to crop/resize...cause it will lose more pixel data in a 2nd wave of compression.

Normally you'd save it in a non-lossy format if you're switching between programs, eg. TIFF.

Indeed.
355
Well, it does say Perfect Effects - I would have put cropping/resizing under basic editing not an effect as such.  :)

*Updated image in OP to show Limited Time Offer.

356
Would be nice if it at least had some basic resizing/crop in it, but I guess they want to charge you for that with Perfect Photo Suite...

As if you was gonna edit a photo in it atm it appears to me that you would have to save it to a lossless format then resize/crop in another program before saving as a jpg.  Thats the only downside I see to that program if you want to use it as a standalone effects program.

Note: At least I could not find a resize/crop in it.

General Software Discussion / How In-app Purchases Has Destroyed The Industry
« Last post by hamradio on February 03, 2014, 12:52 AM »
I don't like writing negative articles that don't include a solution to the problem, but in this case, there is no solution. The state of in-app purchases has now reached a level where we have completely lost it. Not only has the gaming industry shot itself in the foot, hacked off their other foot, and lost both its arms ... but it's still engaging in a strategy that will only damage it further.

Well since everything I have did so far seems stable for me on my system here the release is a few days earlier than planned...

Release Notes:

Minimize to tray and copy data to the clipboard has been added. Finally, a few tweaks were made and a couple minor bugs fixed.

Let me know of any bugs you might find and such... :)

Click here for the download link in the initial posting on the 1st page.

- Maybe you could make the text copyable because then you can make notes, send it in an email, and the whole shebang.
- Add a Minimize to the Tray

I can confirm that both of those will be in a release that should happen in the next week or so. :)

My husband is going to love this!  He's a weather nut and loves to see what's going on everywhere.  Thank you!

Your very welcome! :)

The National Weather Service which states...
"...across the United States and US Territories..."
and I am unsure if those territories use state or province so I just did State/Province.
I do not think there are such things as 'provinces' within the United States of America or its Territories - the only 'provinces' I know of, within North America, are those of the country Canada ... I am sure none of the canadian 'provinces' would like to be considered 'US Territories'.  :-[

But, you have not answered my second question "From where are your getting the weather data (it appears you might be getting some of the information from the local METAR stations)?"

If you are using the data provided by the local METAR stations (through the National Weather Service), then, you could possibly add the of 10 canadian provinces and 3 territories to the list of USA states and territories ... to make the Weather Station Warlock a truly north american weather information utility.  ;)

Ray.

It is using xml from the nws @ http://w1.weather.go...current_obs/seek.php which does stuff a little different than what I have been able to find on the Canada weather service pages.

However I may look into it more in the future as time permits.

Note: Slight version increase to fix the wording of a couple controls in the find stations dialog.

Just curious...  ;)

Why are you presenting us with a choice of 'State/Province' when there is no province in the list of options - I am in Canada, more precisely in beautiful British Columbia...  8)

From where exactly are your getting the weather information (it appears you might be getting some of the information from the local METAR stations)?

Ray.

The National Weather Service which states...

"...across the United States and US Territories..."

and I am unsure if those territories use state or province so I just did State/Province.

That's my logic to it.  If you can clarify for sure if they do not use province I will change it.

Hi Ham Radio,

Some thoughts:

- Currently when I close it, the stations are lost. What if you made some feature where your stations are saved?
- Maybe you could make the text copyable because then you can make notes, send it in an email, and the whole shebang.
- Add a Minimize to the Tray
- This could be the counterpart to Skwire's sWeather. A buddy of mine is a Flight Attendant, so he always wants to know the weather here. So between the two, I can do a quick forecast and give your detailed warlock data of "current conditions".

1. It does as mouser said in his post for saving as soon as the find stations dialog is closed with the finished button it should save the stations list and refresh all data as well.
2+3. Perhaps soon.

Released a bugfix update. (Thanks silat for finding the bug.) :)

Also the bonus download should now be active...

RECOMMENDED UPDATE:

A unhandled exception which might occur on the downloading of data for some stations should be fixed now.

Updated to version 0.8.0.1 with new interface, improved station finder, and also now gets the current conditions for all stations added.  :)

Note 1: This version could break some data from old version.

Note 2: See first post for details/screenshots/download.

Indeed, it is a lot of great software updates along with lots of other information.

This suggestion would be useful for programmers, but heres it goes...

Have a programmers section perhaps and a thing that could be in it is explained below...

For CSharp...
Take a list and of variables someone copies over for example...

Code: C# [Select]
  1. private int attribute_left = -1;
  2. private int attribute_top = -1;
  3. private int attribute_width = -1;
  4. private int attribute_height = -1;

and convert it with the option of generating both setters or one or the other into like...

Code: C# [Select]
  1. public int Attribute_left
  2. {
  3.     get { return this.attribute_left; }
  4.     set { this.attribute_left = value; }
  5. }
  6.
  7. public int Attribute_top
  8. {
  9.     get { return this.attribute_top; }
  10.     set { this.attribute_top = value; }
  11. }
  12.
  13. public int Attribute_width
  14. {
  15.     get { return this.attribute_width; }
  16.     set { this.attribute_width = value; }
  17. }
  18.
  19. public int Attribute_height
  20. {
  21.     get { return this.attribute_height; }
  22.     set { this.attribute_height = value; }
  23. }

While it can be installed heres a couple articles...

So perhaps those are worth taking a look at before you actually update the iPhone 4 to see if you really want all that stuff.

Not at the moment and it probably wouldn't look as good on non iOS7 as if you don't have iOS7 since it has the black transparent background on top and bottom whereas in iOS7 its not there.
