i spent MANY HOURS cursing at my computer getting my javascript solution to this to work.
took about 1 hour to code it, 5 hours to figure out why javascript wasn't always working (answer, certain characters were being escaped out during the call).

hope you like the solution.  uses a simple encryption plus a confirmation dialog so people can see EXACTLY where they are being redirected to.

the obfuscation is also used on email links, so if you decide to make your email visible to the world here it will be obfuscated to prevent email harvesting robots as well.

this should keep everyone's email here safe

incitation -> inspiration
 ;)

thanks for the ideas maddes,

as stefan says, #1 is planned, after some more things are fixed up and improved.
#2, let me think about
#3 sc has greate support for adding little cliparts like cursors - it comes with many and we are making more all the time (thanks to stefan!); click the clipart button and as stefan says select "cursors" fromt he dropdown, then double click one to put in on screen and move it to where you want.
#4 could you explain how one would use that?
#5 i hope to add good multilanguages support to all of the donationcoder apps as soon as i can get a breath from improving them - we have many international users and i would love to be able to put our programs in their native languages and take advantage of many of the kind offers to help with translations.

keep the suggestions coming, there will be updates soon on all dc apps - i've been working on site scripts for last 2 weeks and im dying to get back to proper c++ coding  >:(
34754
i've coded up a javascript encryption thing and ill be adding it today, stay tuned.
34755
i also plan to add a button to clipart object panel that says "resize to original size" and maybe some extra preset sizes for quick resizing?
also, what do you think of always pasting bitmap objects small? like 64xwhatever, when they are bigger than that?
34756
maybe what would be nice would be a simple javascript function that when you clicked on that link (or email link), brought up a tiny java script form that you have to click a button on before it will redirect you - that should stop any email harvesting and still allow general navigation.  anyone want to help me look for such a mini script?

another idea:

red background circle with word "NO"
and green background circle with word "YES"

ps. i just meant "surprising" because i originally thought i would like circles the best, but i think maybe i might use the rounded rectangles the most now, since they look really good.

 ;D ;D ;D

we've been down that road before carol - there are actually already some nice round circles with numbers -
i specifically asked stefan to create some with the word "step" in them :)  :D :D :D

yes, you are right, if we enforced only having paypal encrypted form field text in that field (or if i allowed a special prefix like "encrypted=" which could be a reasonable solution), then this might be doable.

i really wish paypal had a better way of doing this.. they really should have a simple link with user id# in it or something
34760
i think that would be too much of a security risk..
i suppose if you already have a web page, the easiest thing is to point your donation link to a page on your site with the encrypted form, but for those that don't a solution is still needed.

deviatnart is an amazing place - nighted, maybe a post by you about it would be better received? i've noticed that in general people don't respond very well if someone who is not already a member just drops in to make a request out of the blue?

title says it all: hold ALT when resizing bitmap objects to preserve aspect ratio

i think it was shrinking one dimension to fit it in screen and not both - i'll fix that.

i could add this to process tamer maybe, let users make menus that start up, shutdown, or set specific priorities for named apps.

Unfinished Requests / Re: Folder Note in a Thumbnail
« Last post by mouser on October 22, 2005, 09:06 AM »
this is a really fun idea - i think making a thumbanail image for a folder is just a matter of having a picture with a certain name in the folder - so this would be implemented with a context menu extension that simply invoked a graphics editor on an existing thumbnail image of a certain name, or created one of appropriate size first then opened it.  a fun thing to add to Conext Menu Commander (our upcoming context menu tool).

infoboxes are quite nice too.

some ideas for other clipart that might be nice:
clipart "thumbs up"   and "thumbs down"
copyright symbols

more "thought balloons"

maybe some clipart that says "Fill in this info"

more that say "click here" with pic of mouse?

i think the "stop!" sign is great - i'd love to see more "stop" "attention" "warning" etc.
very useful.

ps.
put text smaller and inside border more :)

the circles are kind of nice, but the underline under the letter makes it a bit harder to read, imho.

i think they are good as they are, the rounded rectangle one is surprisingly nice.

if i had one suggestion it would only be to reduce size of numbers in circles a little and move them more inside the circle - MORE SPACE BETWEEN TEXT AND BORDER !!! (as always!) - i think stefan does not like things to have to be inside cages - he wants his text to be free  ;D

i definitely like these the best and i know i will be using them myself :)
34772
i can have the button point to a script and not the person's email, and write a little script that opens the proper link.
34773
you know that is a VERY good point!

bots do scan websites and harvest emails for spam...
hmm, ok let's see how can we fix this..
maybe an encrypted paypal link is needed after all somehow...
34774
could be different browsers blocking hotkeys..

Living Room / Re: Domain names and how they are set up
« Last post by mouser on October 21, 2005, 11:50 PM »
something bears saying in revising my comments:

my experience with web server and domain name stuff is that many of these things SHOULD be simple and straightforward - sometimes they work flawlessly as they should, but then sometimes they involve 3 days of frustration for no seemingly logical reason.
