General Software Discussion / Re: What is now the best dialog box enhancer/extender?

-no, no and no.

It is one thing what a program can do, another thing is if you like it. I have Direct Folders Pro, and others, but I prefer FileBox eXtender. On Vista, it even has a bug!

I don't know what the fuss was about; FlashFolder is almost nothing. FileBox eXtender is still way ahead, even no longer supported, since May 27, 2009.

@justice :up:
My copy is placed in C:\Windows\Media\Bard, with a shortcut in True Launch Bar, which makes BARD a fine and extremely fast way to test what media file is offering the sound that I want. It would be even more handy if you add a "copy file name&path, to clipboard" feature, please.

When uninstalled, like so many others of this kind of programs, ASO3 will forget to remove its entries in Windows > Planned Jobs ('daily updates'). I am a little disappointed that Revo Uninstaller doesn't find these jobs.

General Software Discussion / iResizer
« Last post by Curt on February 17, 2011, 05:47 PM »
New. Version 1.0.  http://www.iresizer.com/  Both a normal resizer AND a modern competitor to the "old" Retarget / Liquid Resize, (content-aware "seam carving"), etcetera.

Edited: I should tell that I now have tested the program, and I was so excited with the retargeted result, that I purchased a license right away. (But of course, if you know how many programs I have a license for, this might not tell you anything!) The program looks like a copy of Inpaint 3 and works the exact same way. It is VERY easy to use, and the result is [Edited:] can sometimes be excellent. Edited: okay, I was lucky the first time!

We are glad to present our new software, iResizer, it is a new intelligent image resize tool.

iResizer scale an image without changing important visual content such as people, buildings, animals, etc. While normal resizing affects all pixels uniformly when scaling an image, iResizer resizing mostly affects pixels in areas that do not have important visual content.

iResizer lets you shrinking or enlarging images to improve a composition, fit a layout, or change the orientation.

iResizer is a handy way to resizing images non uniformly while preserving the key features of the picture. iResizer avoiding distortion of the important parts of the image. It also can be used to remove portion ot the image in a consistent way. For example, you can turn a landscape picture into a square picture and close up the space between people in a image if they are a long way apart. It also works in reverse and you can use it to make an photo larger.

Go to our Video Guide page and see for yourself how easy it is for anyone to do with just a few simple steps.

... and Windows Media Player 11 are the most userfriendly players you can have, but as long as WMP won't handle the flashes...

And all this time I could just have installed FLV Splitter & FFDShow, and Windows Media Player would have played my flash videos without any problems. Who knew. I didn't:

Hi Curt

It's already possible to add FLV support to WMP now, by installing the following two packages:

FLV Splitter: http://www.free-code...h_Video_Splitter.htm
FFDShow: http://www.free-code...download/FFDshow.htm

Kind regards

I now have it installed and WMP is playing my flash files just fine. Though, for the time being I am mostly using The KMPlayer, http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/ , and I have just downloaded the brand new AIMP 3 BETA and am excited to test it; I was really pleased with version 2 :-)

I haven't tried ASO3, but I've notice this feature that should make it worth the asked $5 (FIVE!):

Disk Explorer

The Disk Explorer utility features a Windows Explorer-style interface that displays all of the available drives on your system on the left, and all of the folders contained in the selected drive on the right. With the intuitive pie chart graphic, you'll be able to see, at a glance, what types of files take up the most space on your disk. Have you ever wondered how much of your disk space is taken up by music files? With Disk Explorer, this is no longer a mystery! Want to clean up your drive and free up some space? Disk Explorer provides you with a handy list of the 100 largest files on the drive.

In theory, this makes it a competitor to the $27.50 ($55) Key Metric FolderSizes Home (Pro)

Smart PC Care + Game Optimizer + Driver Updater + System Protector + Disk Tools + Backup Manager + PC Fixer + Disk Optimizer + Undelete + Registry Cleaner + Registry Optimizer + System Cleaner + Disk Explorer + Uninstall Manager + Memory Optimizer + Privacy Protector + Secure Delete + Secure Encryptor + System File Backup & Restore + System & Security Advisor + Duplicate Files Remover + Startup Manager
-ASO3

Of course all this is worth $5. !icon_exclaim.gif

Living Room / Re: [FOR FUN] Stupid Questions
« Last post by Curt on February 16, 2011, 06:22 PM »
I've been thinking about getting an iPad for an ebook reader because it can hold thousands of books. How heavy would that be?
How many books can you read at once?
How many books do you really need to carry around with you?
App I think you missed that this was a joke -- the joke was the idea that the ipad would get heavier the more books you add.

-I'm surprised mouser didn't see at once that app103's question was a proper "stupid" contra-question, asked in accordance with the thread's subject ;-)

General Software Discussion / Re: How to cleanse a playlist, for dublicates?
« Last post by Curt on February 12, 2011, 08:40 AM »
PlayTime is almost ingenious, but not quite for this job. It doesn't offer to auto-remove duplicates, and it will only list file names, not track names. So, if I have the same number added from two different folders (Original Album, and Best Of), it will not be spotted. But, Thank You ;-)

It is just me being brain damaged. Open the playlist in jetAudio, click "sort according to title", and slowly scroll down the re-sorted list: any one listed twice?

I totally blame our Darwin for this new problem of mine! He lured me into removing a lot of programs, and now I need to re-install one of them - I just cannot remember which one! Hmm... maybe Darwin is not really the one to blame, after all. Well, to be honest, Darwin is not to blame for this. Sorry, Darwin!

>>>

I made a playlist, but forgot where I was and accidentally added a lot of the same files twice. Windows Media Player doesn't offer to find any duplicates, so now I have to ask you guys, what program can I use to cleanse a playlist, for duplicates, please?! I really don't want to install a lot of players just to see if they can do it...
