Living Room / A reminder for those who have recently donated
« Last post by mouser on November 24, 2005, 04:13 AM »
It should never take more than 24 hours after you make a donation to get a thank you from us and an email on how to activate your forum account.
If you donate with paypal you should get activation and license information almost instantly.

Every so often someone donates with an invalid email and we have no way of contacting them, or amazon/paypal somehow fails to notify us.

If you look up at the top of this page in the "User Info" box it will say your member group.  If you have donated and are still listed as a "Visitor" then do not hesitate to email us and let us know so we can fix your account ([email protected]), or join the irc chat channel (see IRC CHAT button above).

And do not hesitate to contact us with any other questions or suggestions.

Site/Forum Features / Re: NEW SITE FEATURE: Drupal Pages
« Last post by mouser on November 24, 2005, 01:13 AM »
good point, yes i will.

i guess the truth is that no final official decision was made, but i guess it's become the defacto decision now, just because it seems to do what we want and no significant issues have come up.  i have to say i really really liked drupal, but none of the content management systems i looked at had anywhere near the collaborative editing support that wiki has (drupal was closest), so that was the main determinitve factor.

when i get a chance i'd like to modify the wiki to use forum logins so that users dont have to sign up and sign in to the wiki independently.

Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: auto-save AutoHotkey.ini daily to another folder

very useful idea.
can i suggest two additional features:
1) dont make a new backup file for the day if its identical to the last one.
2) zip it when making backup (in this case you wouldnt have to add date to file, just to zip).

very thoughtfull comments Oshyan,
in fact you have just about summed up better than i could have the conclusions i came to (except for the part that i preferred drupal much more than mambo/joomla).

as you said exactly, for the stated goal of collaborative writing, wiki is a much better match in terms of functionality.
and indeed if you look up at top of this page you will see a "wiki" button.  i went back to wiki (mediawiki) instead of drupal, because it was just a better match for the task, despite my frustrations with permission management.  i have come to appreciate wiki for the ease of collaborative editing, and the rich functionality in terms of loooking at history of changes and being able to easily roll back stuff that is not desired.

so i'm a reluctant wiki convert i guess :)

ps.
http://www.opensourcecms.com/ is a fantastic resource, i agree completely.  anyone considering adding a content management system to their site should make that there first stop.

if the file is something you can share, or if you can make another that is that has same proble, could you send it to [email protected] so i could try to figure out how to fix it?

flipbook printer is made to handle cases where there are tons of frames by simply telling it how many cards you want and letting it print one frame of every X, so the immediate solution to your problem would be just go into the print tab and type in 30 cards, which should give you the results you want, but i'd like to solve the problem obviously.
