you've described exactly the plans for folder searching.  if you enter a \ at the end it will find folders matching the strings.

General Software Discussion / Re: Mobysaurus - nice free thesaurus
« Last post by mouser on December 13, 2005, 12:21 PM »
seems to me if you want to run it online, you dont need an app just a bookmark.

however, here is the kind of thing an offline app can do: incremental search - as you type it narrows down the words that match - good if you are bad at spelling for example.

i feel the opposite way, i prefer apps not have to go online.

another comment: i've tried mobysaurus, it works great and has a nice incremental search.

a big thumbs up from me

We love free dictionaries and word tools on this forum; here's a nice looking thesaurus, mobysaurus:
http://computers.net...e.org/moby/index.htm

and a nice blog about program here:
http://thesaurus.wordpress.com/

MOBYSAURUS is a free English thesaurus software that integrates Grady Ward's huge Moby Thesaurus II. It's royalty-free, powerful and most suitable for everyday reference. With this, you will feel it so much easier to choose the right word or words for every occasion or purpose.

Dr.Windows / Dr.Windows - LATEST VERSION INFO THREAD - v1.06.01 - January 29, 2014
« Last post by mouser on December 13, 2005, 07:25 AM »
Download from: DrWindows Web Page

v1.06.01 - 1/29/14
  • [Bugfix] Fixed index out of range error caused by array length bug (thanks jimbo1qaz)
  • Moved to dual installer system (normal and portable zip)
  • Signed executable
  • Added manifest
  • Fixed some dialog typos (thanks jimbo1qaz)

v1.05.01 - 2/27/09
  • DrWindows now creates a DrWindows subdirectory in your MyDocuments directory, where you can put your custom dialog messages and image/sound files, without needing to have write access to the Program Files directory where DrWindows is normally installed.  The program will load dialogs and media from both locations.
  • Added Help button to options dialog.

v1.04.01 - 12/16/05
  • Removed need for a license key (clear any if blank) for this program - now never nags or expires.
  • Hiding option menu is now itself an option, disabled by default to make it easier for new users to figure out how to use.
  • Added yet more dialogs from Stefan [thx!]

OLDER RELEASES
v1.03.01 - December 13, 2005
  • [new dialogs] now over 50 dialogs
  • This is the first public release.

NOTE:  Please be careful when playing tricks on people with this program to make sure they don't think its a virus and reformat their hard drive in an attempt to clean it.

Im happy to say that I received two new digitized tapes from user TheSmJ, and I have added them to the simulator:
"World of 2XL" and "Voyage to Outer Space"

these are long 30+ minute tapes made for the new tiger brand 2XL, and i still need to tweak the cart image and button overlay, but these are the first user-submitted tapes I've received and I'm very excited about it :)

looking forward to the day when we will have every cart !

it seems incredibly over priced and fading fast in terms of desirability compared to the new satas.

another benefit of the new system is that the name+email you donate with need not be related in any way to the name+email you use on the forum, you can use the activation # to upgrade any (one) forum account into a charter member account.

Note:

BrotherS wrote this:
Once the money is being transferred it might take a few hours or a day, then mouser will upgrade you. Enjoy the site until then as much as you can.

you can tell brotherS has been here for a while - this was the old way :)  the new way is much more automated and instantaneous.

as soon as you donate with paypal you should get an email like the one described above, and you can activate yourself by following those instrctions.

note: always check your spam filters+folders and make sure they aren't blocking email from us - it happens a lot for reasons known only to spam blocker coders :)

and don't hesitate to let us know if you have trouble getting it to work, we are always available to help, either on forum or email :)

i really need to put up a little screenshot tutorial as i know its a bit confusing.

here is a little pictorial tutorial (you should have received an email like the one shown in the first snapshot; if not, check any spam blocker and email me for more help).

i will try to put up a fuller tutorial in the near future.

had another idea of another change that might satisfy some people and keep in spirit of the site.

some people object to having to sign up at the forum (though i know if they looked around the forum they'd see it was a good idea), but anyway you can see why people might not like to have to sign up just to get a license key.

we could let people download like freeware renewable licenses without having to sign up at the forum (maybe only would last 1-4 months instead of 6?);  they just have to know that the 1 year permanent license only kicks in after a year from when they signed up at the forum (that's how it keeps track of when it's been a year); so that not signing up means never getting to that point.  just another idea worth thinking about.

my father bought me a programmable hp41cv calculator in the early 1980s:
http://www.hp41.org/Intro.cfm

it was a remarkable thing in that some early hackers had figured out how to use a buffer overflow in the calculator to hack it to do things it wasn't originally meant to do (like play different sonds), and they put out these underground self-printed books with instructions on how to do it.
