Screenshot Captor / Re: Capture cursor in selected region
« Last post by mouser on January 05, 2006, 04:17 AM »
it's not a bad idea to add it. we'd also have to add a 2nd step after selecting the region, where you 'confirmed' the capture with  a keypress or mouse click or something though so you'd have time to position your mouse.

actually though i try to recommend that people just completely forget about selected region capture - surely the better approach is just capture whole screen and then after that, select and drop.  basically same number of clicks and you can change your mind, etc.

welcome to the site jgpaiva, i will consider #1, i think it should be added something like that.

as for #2:
you can definitely make an alias with a whole list of games in it, then just type the name of the alias group "games"
and you will see a list of all your games in that alias group, hit the # to correspond to the one to launch.

or is that not what you wanted?

General Software Discussion / Re: Naming and tagging MP3 files from a PDF?

i'd say the first step would be extracting the pdf info into plain text -
once you get that done it should bw possible.

josh - any chance of rearranging the 20% discount for dc members this month - seems like a lot of people here might be interested in purchasing if they could get the discount.

name change discussion has been hot and heavy and we are all 100% agreed it needs a name change.

right, pt has some code to avoid including priorities of apps it can't modify - perhaps i should relax that and show it anyway but mark it somehow.

Living Room / Re: Predictions 2006 ...
« Last post by mouser on January 04, 2006, 05:01 AM »
my prediction:

Donationware will start to see a healthy revival, including among open source projects which will more and more start asking strongly for donations.  The effort will be aided in part by a micropayment system from google.

if anyone finds any good example code for capturing scrolled windows, or similar stuff, i'd really like to take a look at it.  or if anyone who has some experience with coding such stuff, ie sending messages to windows controls i'd be happy working with them to add this.

Living Room / The Edge Annual Question — 2006 - What is your dangerous idea?
« Last post by mouser on January 04, 2006, 02:58 AM »
Interesting Reading:

The Edge Annual Question — 2006
WHAT IS YOUR DANGEROUS IDEA?
The history of science is replete with discoveries that were considered socially, morally, or emotionally dangerous in their time; the Copernican and Darwinian revolutions are the most obvious. What is your dangerous idea? An idea you think about (not necessarily one you originated) that is dangerous not because it is assumed to be false, but because it might be true?

General Software Discussion / veign's link200
« Last post by mouser on January 04, 2006, 02:18 AM »
i noticed that member veign has been updating his link200 donationware program:

Link200 will determine the validity of bookmarks or favorites in Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Netscape. Link200 is an easy to use step-through wizard that guides you through the entire process. No longer do you have to worry about going to a favorite or bookmark only to find out the site is no longer valid. Link200 will handle the checking and cleaning. Users can automatically delete the bad websites using Link200's clean option or you can specify which ones you would like to remove on a per website basis.

well an ftp server may be the most powerful but certainly not the easiest to set up or easiest for your friends.
there are a number of tools to do exaclty what you are asking, just specify some files and it starts a mini web server that people can visit with their normal browsers... i don't know the names of these programs though.. hopefully someone can recommend some.  maybe search google for "personal web server" stuff like that..

Official Announcements / Re: DECEMBER SOFTWARE DRAWING RESULTS
« Last post by mouser on January 03, 2006, 07:59 PM »
heheh isaac you've given me an excuse to remind people to definitely try these programs before submitting a drawing form requesting to win them.. that way you can make sure you get something you really want and can use, and that you don't take the prize away from someone who does want it if you won't end up using it..

if you can find one of these addins that has source included it would be a lot easier for someone to modify that sourcecode to do something more specific like you want bratliff.

Living Room / Re: Unofficial fix for recent (and serious) windows vulnerability
« Last post by mouser on January 03, 2006, 05:10 PM »
33619
good idea; i will make it so.
33620
never mind stefan, i see what you were saying and fixed it.
the error now refers to the proper attachment # you specified (see your post above now, the error is correct).
33621
stefan can you make a post somewhere that demonstrates the problem so i can understand better.
33622
yes your second image would be included like:
33623
hehe you'll get it, keep trying.
33624
stefan - you must replace the # with the attachment #.

for example:

i will modify the error to make clear what is wrong.
33625
ps.
i've also added a new "drop down box" to the post editor (upper left and colors) that will insert [ Invalid Attachment ] tags for you so you don't have to remember the syntax.
