wrt shift+rightcontrol, should already work, just hold shift and press rightcontrol to trigger.

as for configurable hotkeys.. not so easy because im using a global keyboard hook which makes it harder to let user specify what to trigger on.

i've uploaded a new version (same url) -
it should now capture menus properly and also you can use right control key instead of mouse click if you want to avoid all mouse clicking to capture.

i could easily add items to the red box right menu for capturing..

yes it might be safer to use a key to do the capture rather than mouse..

that error is happening because the menu is dissapearing before screenshot captor has a chance to grab it..
but that should NOT be happening.. for some reason screenshot captor is not blocking the mouse click on the menu which it should be.. i thought it was.. going to have to try to find the problem.

looks like nero is on track to be one of those great apps that goes on a path of bloatation and becomes unusable at which point the cycle resets and we start looking for another simple pure app that just gets the job done.

i was thinking i might add some kind of advanced option for scrolling window capture, where it first analyzed the window then gave you a report about what it was about to do (and how big the result would be) and you could then cancel the capture or maybe adjust some settings..

1) How do you determine window class names to use the exceptions? Are you going to provide a drag and drop tool for this?

actually Red Box Capture mode tells you the window class name in its caption in the (), but i will probably add the info in the right-click options dialog, along with program exe name, which im afraid is going to be necesary (or maybe just parent window class) in order to differentiate between certain different programs with same window names.

regarding xdesk - so it sounds like the problem is simply a shortkey conflict (xdesk also reacts to ctrl+shift+click; i can make an alternate hotkey for scrolling window capture)

this is an early beta - do NOT install this if you dont want to help test.  just wait until next stable release.
it seems stable to me and the new object capture mode can be disabled, but still i recommend normal users just wait.

youll find a new tab of options called "Red Box Capture" in the preferences which control the use of this new mode.

i think the new code adds a lot to the program - it's not just scrolling capture, its a new interface for capturing objects and regions - you can even leave it open and capture multiple windows and stuff before returning to screenshot captor main window:

there is some great competition in the newsreader clients - it's something id really like to organize a comprehensive review on.. but finding someone objective and knowledgeable enough to do one.. that's a nother matter.

:)

yeah im a bit confused whats different about firefox that is blocking it from working.. firefox does have some free screencapture plugins however so its not a huge loss..  but i'll still try to solve it.
33545
hand drag in screenshot captor has been there since v1.0, just hold down right mouse button.
33546
my experience is that software businesses can be a little slow.. you might want to give them a little bit more time to "process" your request/complaint before you go medieval on them.

i wonder if you could also try this for the time being:
leave paper set to: letter.

and full around with Offset to get the drawing region into the printing region.

Screenshot Captor / Why your donations matter so much..
« Last post by mouser on January 10, 2006, 01:26 PM »
So I just spent the last week solid working on adding autoscroll capturing (for windows whose contents are too big to fit on screen at one time).

A lot of people have asked for this function, and I wanted to take some time to point out that this function would never have been added if not for those of you who have donated to support the project.

I think it's important to say this because this is a key concept of this site and other donationware which requires adjusting one's thinking a little.

If the software is free - why donate?

One of the reasons you donate is to support FUTURE work.

In this case, your donations and support of this site enabled me to buy a keyboard+mouse hook component which is used in the new scrolling window capture mode.  I could have written this myself but it would have taken a lot more time.  Your donations enabled me to purchase a tool that made the task easier.

This is not a request for more donations - it's more of a thank you to those of you who have donated in the past and let you know that your donations really do make it possible for further development on the programs.

ps.

this might be a nice time to tell a true story from my childhood in new york city.  It is not uncommon to find homless people on the subways in ny asking for money and/or performing for money, etc.  one day a man walked onto a subway in while i was riding to school.  he went to the center of the subway car, cleared his throat, and begain saying "thank you" in a bunch of different languages.  then he gave a little speech and then left the subway car.  what he said in his speech was this (paraphrasing): "a while ago i was homeless and came on the subways asking for help - i want to thank all of you who helped me - you enabled me to get new glasses and buy food, and i just wanted to say thank you."

wow - they actually changed the comparison chart so rapidly!?
