I don't think you tried to follow my advice, dearest.

Firefox > DownloadHelper willl catch the justintv, but not bisontv.
The stream is a flash video, sized 250MB.

maybe you are a bit impatient? The stream is 2 hours!
Just catch it with Firefox > DownloadHelper = 250MB

-yes.
The advertised price for me is €29.95 = DKK 235 = $43, plus 25% VAT = $52.22 = €35.64
Of course, a proper currency converter would say €35.64 = $45.52, but that is another question.

I think the RayGun font looks much better ...

Yeah, it is really good looking!

Sadly, it isn't Unicode. Not even close. Is it old? (no €)  :(

I use 7-Zip, and also have the old but free WinRAR 3.80.

Including VAT, WinRAR 4 is $52.19!
Can we have a discounted offer, please?!   :tellme:

... the 1979 movie Norma Rae tells an antagonist something like this:

you may be the boss of this town,
you may be the boss of this factory,
you may be the boss of this shop,
but you ain't the boss of me

Thanks, tomos, this was a perfectly satisfying explanation!

Given your styling needs I think the only clear solution is InDesign, maybe in combination with InCopy. And since you already have it and evidently know how to use it, it's even more compelling.

Thanks for telling. It was really interesting to read about InCopy, I had never heard about it before (obviously because of the price tag)!

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: JetDrive Defragmentation Suite
« Last post by Curt on March 16, 2011, 07:00 PM »
I used my DiskTrix UltimateDefrag_3 to defrag my D drive. After a successful job, I ran the program again, just to make it analyze and display the drive's state. I liked it, I thought it was all blue = all defragged.

Then I installed and ran JetDrive Ultimate 5, and had it analyze the D Drive. The answer was something like "oh my god, is this your drive? Defragmentation is highly recommended!"

I didn't bother to test how well or not it would defrag. I just uninstalled it.
But it sure was a nice program to look at!

Yes, I am aware, there are different ways to defrag. What is order to one program, may be disorder to another one. My problem was that JetDrive doesn't speak about such advanced problems, it just shows 3 levels of need. JetDrive is not just "easy"; it is too simple!

General Software Discussion / Re: Lyx is the answer
« Last post by Curt on March 16, 2011, 06:10 AM »
just a quote for your information:

The first WYSIWYM word processor (and also first editor) was LyX. LyX is a graphical editor built on top of a LaTeX  processor, so it, like LaTeX, is particularly suited for the editing of scientific documents — though, again like LaTeX, it can be used for a wide variety of purposes.

Inside LyX, the structure of a document is partly determined by the 'document layout' chosen for it. These layouts correspond to LaTeX document classes, though LyX can also work with DocBook. The export process is performed in two steps. First the contents are transformed from an internal format to LaTeX, and then the LaTeX processor is used to generate the output document in the requested format (DVI, PDF, etc.). An advantage of this system is that LyX can produce any format to which a LaTeX file can itself be converted.

And I love that Lyx can do math stuff.

The other way around, I would say. LYX is a math editor than also can type words and stuff.

Well, what I would say is, that the included CygWin has made some computers unstable.

Most of the market has obviously decided that users are too dumm to ever understand the difference between hdr and fhdr. Something tells me they are right. If you visit flickr, a site for photographers, and search for photos tagged 'hdr', you will see that an overwhelming majority of photographers are tagging their fhdr pictures as hdr. Sad, but true.

Living Room / Pseudo HDR now on iPAD and iPhone
« Last post by Curt on March 14, 2011, 08:03 PM »
I received this email from Mediachance, the maker of Dynamich Photo HDR ('DPHDR)') and Photoshop plugin Redynamix, among others. I've paid $54 for what iPhone and iPad -owners now can have for merely $0.99 !! :

Dynamic Light for iPhone: http://itunes.apple....ic-light/id422494924
DynaLight HD for iPAD: http://itunes.apple....light-hd/id423233129

banner.jpg

Edited:
I should say that what he calls "Pseudo HDR" is what I've learned to call "Fake HDR", fhdr.

Pseudo HDR now on iPAD and iPhone

We managed to port a whole chunk of the code from DPHDR (the Pseudo HDR part) to iPAD and iPhone and released two applications, one for iPhone called Dynamic Light and another for iPAD called DynaLight HD. They are each the usual symbolic $0.99 which is nothing compared to the amount of studying and hoops I had to go through.
I am rather pleased with the result, the code didn´t get cut or dumbed down, it is essentially the full blown Pseudo HDR from Redynamix and DPHDR even with most of the effects like orton or B/W.

I also sneaked a little switch to the settings called Save Full Size which will actually process the image in its full size quality (I was testing it on 14 megapixel images from Canon) so you essentially have a little computer with you on iPhone.
On the iPhone and iPad 2 it also works with its build-in camera - so you just snap a picture and then rotate dial to get HDR effect.

They work on IOS 4.0 or later.

DynaLight HD for iPAD
http://itunes.apple....light-hd/id423233129

If you have those devices please consider supporting Mediachance or if you know people who have iPhone and iPad let them know. It is easy to get buried in the store between half million other apps.

I know it may not look like a big deal, but trust me after years of development for Windows, it was a big deal to pull this out.

I find it a little worrying that they miss to spell out if STOIK Imagic 5 is the advanced $49 Premium version or the $0 basic free-for-personal-use version. Also, it seems that the extra $5 is because parts of or all of the package will be mailed on a CD - but they don't specify in advance. However, Serif PagePlus Essentials is going for $35 or 40, so for beginners it may be worth this discounted price - be it $5 or $10.

SUPER © 2011 Build 47
...
WARNING:
You may not want to get build 47 anyway! The installer was unable to download "something", and I was forced to abort installation. So now I have no SUPER © at all!

the embellishments started from build 45's installer itself.. that's why i am only using build 42 now.
@Curt - FWIW, the Filehippo website maintains an archive of the most current along with numerous previous releases of Super. Link here.

I find it really weird / worrying that the changelog doesn't mention it.  :tellme:
http://www.filehippo...oad_super/changelog/

FYI: I have installed build 47. This time there were no problems. The "something" that it wanted to download (but couldn't, the first time) were merely more converter things.

BTW, from the installer:

SUPER © (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer) is nothing more than a trivial graphic user interface to the famous line command encoders:

FFmpeg, MEncoder, MPlayer, x264, MusePack, Monkey's audio, Shorten audio, TAK audio, True audio, WavPack, the libavcodec library & the theora/vorbis RealProducer's plugIn.

But, hmm..., "overload" springs to mind. Do you know if JPEGsnoop can be told to leave out certain informations? As an example, I really don't want the loooong lists of Huffman tables.
