just visit the license key page: https://www.donation...r.com/Keys/index.php
(you can get there from here by pressing the "downloads" button above and then the "license key" link on the left of that page.

yes we could require pressing an arrow button or something..  like when you right click on an item now.
i was just wondering if there wasnt a more keyboard centric way to do it..

delay will be an option (and i should point out it might actually improve search depth speed if it makes update speed less frequent).

and yes, looks are important too; i think we will have to choose a skin to install by default for F+R 2 (though of course it will be easy to disable it and go back to native look).

make sure you check these options that can affect speed:
smoothng.png

if your image has objects/frame, then check the objects tab in preferences for another option that can effect speed:
slow2.png

objects+frames can really slow down rendering. if you are sure you are done moving them arround you can "merge" them into the picture from the Objects menu which will return you to the speed for a normal image but you wont be able to remove them or move them any more.

i agree with jgpaiva on this one - if you have lots of images, you really need it to the scroll the window just like in an explorer pane.  you can however use the down arrow and up arrow to go up and down selecting images :)

we've discussed joel spasky before on this forum: he's extremely smart, and a very good writer (i have one of his books on user interface design), and has written some fantastic pieces.

but it's also true that more than a few of us find some of his posts/writing hard to swallow in terms of tireless self promotion, and obsession with money.  rubs me the wrong way a little.

screenshot captor has a little trick:
you can use the name field at the bottom, to RENAME and CONVERT image formats.

if your name field for a picture says "mypic" and it's saved as a png, you can rename it to 'yourpic' by simply typing "yourpic" in that box and hitting enter.

you can rename and change format at same time by simply specifying an extension: so just type "yourpic.jpg" and it will convert the file to jpg, save it with new name, and delete original.

:)

correct me if i'm wrong but i think this is all about the software.  they may be marketing it as a hardware-software combo, but i'm guessing it's just a standard usb pendrive with special software.

i have to find the one(s) that inspired that one.

for those of you who liked the samarost post (https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1806.0),
these are much more spare and non-animated puzzles, but also very cool and fun and challenging.

i am more than happy to add functions for switchingto, closing, minimizing, changing priority of, etc. running processes.

i'm just thinking aloud about the kind of user interface that would be most efficient for the user to tell the program what they are wanting.

it seems to me that that this idea and some other related ideas we have discussed both sort of are asking for a way to first identify a file or command and THEN identify a subsequent operation or file.

for example:
first typing CLOSE to choose the close command from a  list and then typing THEBAT to choose thebat program from a list of running processes.

the problem is.. how could we implement such a system?  it's an interesting user interface challenge..

i love naming suggestions - i have come up with some good ones and some terrible ones and so i welcome the help!
one thing that's important is that the name be fairly unique so that its easy to locate information on it.  the single word name "mercury" sounds great but will surely fail this test and i'll bet you dollars to donuts you'll be able to find 10 apps already existing with this exact name :)

regarding jdmarch's comments:
i am one of the biggest anti-skin people you will find so you can imagine my surprise when i actually found that i like FARR better with a skin on it! (i use mxskin31.skn skin).

but rest assured that the very first requirement i had when i looked at skinning solutions was, i would only do it if it could be done with an option to disable skinning 100% with absolutely no hit in performance or degradation in normal native interface.  i will maintain this commitment to keeping the program fast and efficient and looks will never take priority over functionality.

v2 will be more full featured and faster than v1, there is nothing that requires compromising on this front :)

wonderful!!
amadawn thanks for bringing this to our attention, and bringing f+r to their attention.

i've said it before but it really is so important that it needs repeating, we rely on word of mouth to let people know about our programs, our site, and what we are trying to do here.  it is so hard to get out the word about a site like ours and things like this make all the difference in the world.

i also can't tell you how much all the activity on this section about f+r and all the suggestions put into the bug tracker inspires me to get back to work on v2 and make it live up to all of your hopes for it.  i know with all of you thinking up such great new features that as good as v1 might be, v2 is going to be a whole different level of cool :)

if there's one thing we should all know by now it's that different people have different needs, and different styles demand different tools as well.

it's always good to hear about new tools, so keep em coming!

( just don't let brotherS hear you say anything bad about autohotkey or he'll go off like a firecracker  ;D )

yeah i think this qualifies as something we don't permit here: you can't post links with reference numbers and stuff where you get benefits when people click on it.

it's fine to post deals and discounts (though it should go here: https://www.donation...index.php?board=39.0), but you can't post such links where you get some special benefit when people click through.
