PopUp Wisdom / Re: New books wanted!
« Last post by mouser on August 24, 2017, 09:40 AM »
There are good RSI utilities that show nice photos, etc. and are customized for that task.. I'm not sure it makes sense to try to use PopUp Wisdom for this purpose..

Living Room / Re: For those with a CrashPlan...
« Last post by mouser on August 23, 2017, 11:42 AM »
That sucks.. CrashPlan has been my backup plan of choice.
CrashPlan was *not* cheap, even as a home user, so I wonder what the reasoning was behind the decision to stop offering the service to home users.

Screenshot Captor / Re: New computer - how do I export SC settings?
« Last post by mouser on August 22, 2017, 07:06 PM »
Just copy the ScreenshotCaptor.ini file from your old computer to your new one.
Location should be in C:\users\USERNAME\My Documents\DonationCoder\ScreenshotCaptor\
or something similar.

Ewemoa!!!!  :-* :-* :-* :-*

Great to hear from you.

I noticed something similar recently as well.  I have to figure out why it's not scrollable..

I also noticed when trying to use one of my apps (ScoreTracker) to keep track of scores during a board game that the small size of fonts was unacceptable, and was SHOCKED when I went into the options and found the stupid developer did not have options to enlarge the fonts.  I kept looking for the option sure that it must be in there somewhere bit it wasn't.  Quite embarrassing.

So that's on my very short term to do list.

Just go back from 4 days at gencon, with 4 other friends sharing one hotel room.  Was terrific fun, had tons of unstoppable laughing fits, discovered new games.  Huge success.

Welcome to the site, insulae
I'm glad you are liking the program.

Someone *just* reported this same bug the other day -- I'm not sure how/when it slipped in.
I'll be away from my desk this week but I'll try to get it fixed next week.

Screenshot Captor recommended by TechRadar yesterday:

Screenshot Captor, from DonationCoder, is the most powerful free screen capture tool you can download. It's thoughtfully designed and packed with options that will make your life easier, whatever you need screen grabs for.
...
Screenshot Captor is our favorite screen capture software, and for good reason – it’s enormously flexible and packed with tools to save you time and effort.

3 Using Active Window

Ok so this could be a clue, if it only happens during active window capture.
Go to the "Window Capturing 1" tab and uncheck the option "Try to capture Aero Glass transparency effects".

You might also try on "Widow Capturing 2" tab to uncheck "Try to detect (active) window transparent.."
3337
There's no reason it should have such a delay.  Let me ask some questions:
Are you using latest version?
Is it only Firefox that is delayed?
What mode of capture are you using? (full workspace, active window, etc.)
If you do repeated captures is it only the first one that has the delay?

Does it help if you turn off these options: On "Capture Options" tab, the option "Retrieve and store URL"
This sounds like it might be your problem:

Find And Run Robot / Re: Possibility to chain searches?
« Last post by mouser on August 11, 2017, 10:04 AM »
There is no way to do exactly that, BUT you can create an alias that will open the current file in a specific program.
So you could create an alias triggered on np, and after you find todo.txt you would add like "+np" and hit enter and it would open todo.txt in notepad.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Hotkeys for Special FX
« Last post by mouser on August 09, 2017, 02:38 AM »
So the effect you use is "add shadow to image" from the SpecialFX2 menu, or the toolbar button for shadow?
And what is your workflow regarding using the main SC window itself? Do you keep SC minimized when you capture and automatically copy screenshot to the clipboard, or do you have the main SC window show after each capture?

One of the big items on my todo list for SC is a complete overhaul of the hotkey system so that you can create as many hotkeys as you want to do things exactly like this, or do specific captures and actions, etc.

Living Room / Giant review of thermal pastes for PC builders:
« Last post by mouser on August 09, 2017, 02:00 AM »
Giant review of thermal pastes at tom's hardware, for PC builders:

Several years ago, we published a round-up of thermal pastes that started with Thermal Paste Comparison, Part One: Applying Grease And More and concluded with Thermal Paste Comparison, Part Two: 39 Products Get Tested. Since it's so hot outside (at least in our U.S. labs), we're trying to cool so many new CPUs and GPUs, and readers keep asking for it, we decided to combine and update those stories, adding a range of new thermal pastes and pads.

Living Room / Re: Recommend some music videos to me!

My young niece is visiting me this week -- we just went and saw a local performance of a great musical that I saw as a child, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Andrew Loyd Webber).

Turns out the movie of it can be watched in its entirety on youtube, and it's great stuff:
