well, i've not had any response from the emails i sent regarding whether the labels/artists embrace what 'allofmp3' are doing, so i guess that means they don't object or just don't care either way. great.

or, even if they genuinely do care, i certainly don't now - i'll probably use 'allofmp3' next time i want something.

er, i'm still using maxthon at the moment.

unfortunately i've seen people password protect the administrator account also - an understandable thing to do in some situations.

i've seen a couple of methods (try google) for resetting any/all passwords by booting from a linux CD and running a command or two to change the password. i can't remember the technical jargon or detail involved but it did work. i'll try and find the pages if you don't get anywhere with the administrator account - but i don't think it would take you long to find them in google. i think i may even have a small boot cd someone created specifically for the reset password task - never needed to try it but it looked like it would work.

just a little bug so far: i appear to be getting 'ahk_class #32770' in both the detectablewindows and notdetectablewindows sections in the ini file when i press F9 and F10, i.e. it appears that this is a common way for windows to identify a dialog so it breaking how things work.

emule, confirm shortcut delete, find, and probably a few others i didn't realise share the ahk_class #32770 identifier.

would it be possible for the F9 and F10 shortcut key methods of accepting or blocking dialogs to be done by matching a string in the title bar of the dialog.

i thought this was already catered for in an earlier version but as things have become more complex it looks like it's broken.

otherwise things appear to be working great it's just the ahk_class #32770 that seems to get in the way.

oh, forgot to say, you can have Amorak display lyrics for you. i haven't tried that so can't comment on how well it works.

just had a quick go with BeatHarness. very nice but not my cup of tea. i don't really like the 'random' splodgy type visualizers - i go for the symmetrical type of thing, just makes me think i'm seeing a representation of both right and left audio channels (though, that's probably not entirely what is happening).

'white scream firefly' looks like a more up to date version of the old traditional style 'bar graph' graphic equalisers, not one of the swirly throbbing blobby things that tend to dominate the visualizer scene.

Amorak doesn't change your files, instead it creates a bookmark that is initiated when the matching file name appears in winamp again.

in the screengrab the bottom right panel is 'Amorak'. you can see i've named two 'bookmarks' for the 'Mojove Plan' track. clicking on one of the bookmarks will jump to that time within the track. unfortunately, Amorak doesn't auto jump when it detects a track with bookmarks in it so it's not the 'complete' solution. i would have preferred a method that automatically knows when to jump 'into' a track and when to jump 'out' of a track. like editing on the fly i guess.

i've just downloaded 'beatharness' so i'm going to try it now...

only time i've used magnifiers is when i'm working away from the computer but i wanted to see something like a small timer that was running onscreen. say, when encoding video and i wanted to see how long was left before it finished.

not the greatest reason for a magnifier.

other than that i once met someone with incredible bad eyesight (i think they were almost blind) and he used a specific type of program for magnifying the screen. it was a shame that the program was so expensive and didn't seem that advanced or user friendly.

Toaster, yes. but i probably need to look more into the configurations to get more from it.

Winamp Advanced Controls, yes. got to be the best tray controls for winamp (or any media player). smallest footprint but all the major buttons and a slider that you need, without having to click through a menu.

pacemaker, i've got saved but don't really have a use for it at the moment.

mute tools, don't really need them either at the moment.

DFX, i tried this many moons ago but i've settled for Ozone by iZotope http://www.izotope.c...dio/media/ozone.html - too many options as far as i'm concerned but the one that i use 'warm and airy' makes pretty much everything sound a thousand times better (i've got a creative labs card with the crystalizer thing on it but it's a joke compared with what Ozone does to the sound).

so what can i suggest...

Amorak. well, i did mention it on the site about a week or two ago and absolutely no one showed any interest in it at all https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=2935.0 it lets you 'bookmark' individual parts within a track.

Dynamic Library http://nunzioweb.com/joonas/dl/ can be useful for browsing your music collection.

other plugins i've removed for the moment.

anyone into the 'visualization' plugins may like this: milkdrop 1.04 (i think it comes with winamp) but remove everything out of the mildrop plugin folder except for 'fiShbRaiN - white scream firefly.milk' then play your favourite 'electronic' music. i say this as 'white scream firefly' is, without doubt, the best graphic equaliser i've seen. it's more like watching the greatest stage light show ever produced (if you have it full screen) or, dare i say it, like staring into the face of some kind of electronic god. shush, i'm sure my computer is trying to communicate something to me right now via the language of light...

(other fiShbRaiN plugins are worth a look - witchcraft looks pretty good to me too.)

just read the excellent article, mouser. fascinating. it will be of great use i'm sure for all those thinking of embracing the donation ethic - for the potential donator and for the beneficiary.

i haven't got a good reason as when to use 'keywords' and when to use 'categories/tags' (or both at the same time). wish i had.

the tags are obviously easier to select when viewing your files so 'keywords' only seem useful when searching. if you can think of a really good reason i'd like to hear of it too.

if you read anything of what i wrote then just read the bit about the 'PROPERTIES - DATABASE - organise' panel, as that is where you 'tag' your images NOT in the 'ORGANISE' panel.

to be honest, the way the tagging works in acdsee appears to be either suffering from a bug or whoever made it just didn't appreciate what was required. being able to only drag one 'tag' at a time makes no sense at all.

yep, samurize will do it - and you can make a pretty meter whilst you're at it (or just use one of the many already made).

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: move small dialog windows to cursor position
« Last post by nudone on April 12, 2006, 10:27 AM »
just been testing the new version out and it seems pretty perfect. i think now it's just a case of using it for a few days to see if any other suggestions spring to mind.

i can see that there will possibly always be something that works contrary to what you thought would happen but as 'dialogmove' can't be telepathic i think it's doing a brilliant job now.

i wonder what you think to this 'mode' of operation - specified detectable windows set to always move should be ignored in the buffer?

i guess if there was a configuration box that the user could select various options from instead of editing the ini file would be good - i'm thinking more for people that will be scared away by the thought of editing an ini file.

on a more personal note: if i add extra commands to the script - things like shortcut keys for me to move/minimise/restore/maximise a window - do you think this will be better than running a separate script at the same time. i guess the cpu cycles involved are that minimal between the two options it's a daft question???

anyway, you've done a really fantastic job, jgpaiva. you are my hero.

i thought it might be better explained if i provided a screengrab. this isn't exactly how i lay out acdsee, i've taken the screen grab whilst i'm at work but you should get the idea...

other than that, i agree photoshop elements has a nicer tagging system - i don't like how acdsee splits the tagging process up across different panels (maybe it helps in some ways but i'd have to invent a reason). the image stacking sounds like a handy feature too.

i can imagine that the tagging power within acdsee will grow with future releases, like i said, i'm not entirely sure what the benefits are of splitting this job up between panels - it certainly is more intuitive with photoshop elements. other than these two points i don't feel i'm missing out on anything in the tagging department by using acdsee instead of photoshop elements.
