...if nobody makes it, maybe i'll give it a go.
Tell me what's wrong with my AHK script, and perhaps I can change it (or you can, or whoever.)
**sorry**!
I didn't see your post. This definitelly looks good, i will give it a go later.
Don't forget you can add it to the context menu, just like winrar does, on folder options -> file types.
This is definitelly a great idea!

By the way, how do you add hyperlinks to text, like f0dder did?

It's quite simple, just type this:
http://foobar.com

can i request 3 more version?
one with cody looking 25% away and 75% looking toward
one with cody looking 75% away and 25% looking toward
one with cody looking 75% away and 25% looking toward but with his right foot turned slightly inward.
what do you think about having one with cody walking on his hands, upside down?

sp.exe is pretty cool, i'll keep that in mind for the next time someone asks for a wallpaper changer ;)

I'm not sure where you could get more info about this. Maybe a search for "alias" or "groups" here in the find and run forum would get you some interesting results. Another interesting search would be "regex" or "regular expressions".
Most definitelly, it's very useful to have regex, it can solve a bunch of problems, sometimes.

Oh boy, oh boy!!
Fantastic material here!!! i love it! :D
May i make just a small suggestion? The "Hill" wallpaper is simply beautiful, but i unfortunatelly part of the text gets cut of in my screen, since it's in the place taken by the start bar. I'd like to know if it's possible to just move the text a little bit up.

you don't really need to have the $$2 on the command line, since it'll never be used. the $$1 will contain everything you pass to the alias.
So, if you remove $$2 on the results editbox, it should work perfectly.

Developer's Corner / Re: [FBSL] FARR's Calc tool updated!
« Last post by jgpaiva on September 26, 2006, 09:19 AM »
And here's the regex i use: (notice that it only works for the calculator itself)

(.*\+.*|.*\-.*|.*\*.*|.*\/.*)
this expression will match anything that includes a *, +, / or -, which means you are able to do maths only by typing it in farr instead of having to prepend "calc".

(i know, it's not a very good expression since it uses the . aka dot)

I just got this on my e-mail: http://officelive.mi....com/WebHosting.aspx

Screenshot-06_09_22,14_29_40.png

Apparently, looks like they are giving it away for free, even after the beta has ended.

A big cons: only for united states residents... :(

ps: i didn't quite get the idea. does it mean that i could have my site for free?

General Software Discussion / Re: Motherboard Monitor, or Something Else?
« Last post by jgpaiva on September 22, 2006, 08:18 AM »
If simplicity is the aim, then Mobmeter might be the best solution: No install, almost no config, just run and it sits in the tray.

Cons: it might only work for mobile computers and it doesn't display the temp on the tray, needs to be clicked to display a dialog with it. (the dialog can be small, on top, transparent, etc.)

General Software Discussion / Re: My favorite software! What's yours?
« Last post by jgpaiva on September 21, 2006, 02:59 AM »
well... other than the obvious autohotkey, my favourites are: (ordered from more important to less important)

FindAndRunRobot
Opera
GridMove
DOpus
gvim
keepass
Winamp

Definitelly, those are the ones I NEED my computer to have installed for me to able to use it normally, which means those are the apps i miss most when i use other people's computers.

Are there any other mouse and keyboard related freeware that you know and are useful? Let us know
Well.... Autohotkey. Although you'd have to program the stuff, it's way more powerfull than any of the tools you mentioned ;)
Qliner hotkeys looks very good, though :D

my chair is horrible, and i've been on the hunt for a proper chair for a while, but haven't found an acceptable one in my price range.
I'm very proud i finally managed to find the right chair, it was definitelly a huge difference in comfort. I think it's a good investiment since i spend almost my whole day sitting on it. My last one caused me both back and wrist problems. Remember: health doesn't have a price ;)

i am still procrastinating but it seems it is better to be busy and do the wrong things rather than to do nothing at all.
I'd say that most definitelly it is. The most important is to have work method. If one has a work method, the only problem will be replacing the "wrong" work with the "right" work. And that's way easier than replacing rest (or shall i say boredom?) with "right" work!  ;)

It's interesting to see that some of you have very poor arm support! - ideally you should be able to rest your forearm on your table while typing, to avoid too much strain. I know it certainly matters to me, with all those hours I spend (or at least, used to spend) in front of the computer :-[
That's true, it's one of the things that most worries me. With my previous chair, i had several problems with that, my wrist was aching lots of times. But now, i have arm support on my chair! :D

Here comes the positive guy:

Well... Since this experiment started, i've managed to at least, actually DO something. Even if it is just make lists or get out of the house to buy a calendar. I guess that's something.
I've also tried numerous methods, that while they were novelty for me, did work and actually helped me to get something done.
I guess my problem is when i get bored with them. Maybe my problem is that i can't have a routine.
I would definitelly buy discipline, but i also can tell you this: although it sure would be more productive if i could work from the moment i wake up to the moment i go to sleep, i'm not sure i'd like that.

That's why i am not always thinking about getting things done.
I'm trying to get things done but without rushing into things. I'm trying to slowly start getting more stuff done, since it's impossible to just start getting everything done from one second to the next.
And the method i've found more productive is by doing the stuff i feel like doing. If i'm doing something and i'm thinking "damn, i don't feel like doing this, i'd prefer being surfing the web or watching tv", i won't really put all my focus into it and it'll come out a pile of c**p.

I guess the best system is just to be conscient that stuff needs to get done. And that's where this experiment is a winner. Debating about it and reading about it sure has been a big help!

Well... I don't have a decent camera. But i do have my crappy phone.

Here are some images:

My main desk, where i only have the essential stuff: computer, second monitor, keyboard and mouse, some paper for school work, my GTD (non-patented) system, some writing material, the school timetable and a clock. (i also have a cool picture of me in disneyland, on the second monitor. that's not essential, but it's pretty cool :P)
Imagem(46).jpg

My small table, where i dump stuff that i don't feel like organizing, and the stuff i grab when i leave home (keys, cell phone, school stuff, etc).
Imagem(47).jpg

My second desk, where, right now, i only have blank paper sheets and some important documents at the bottom, and on top of it, the shelves where i put the daily annotations i take in class. (yep, i feel pretty good with myself knowing that i own an almost empty desk :P)
Imagem(48).jpg

Sorry for the bad pictures but.. they're better than nothing, right? :P

Find And Run Robot / Re: 4 more suggestions for v2
« Last post by jgpaiva on September 18, 2006, 09:58 AM »
Hi Michael!
Welcome to DC ;)

Well... Most of your suggestions are already being thought for FARR V2, which (hopefully), will be in the works. (let's all pray to the all-mighty mouser ;) )

Specifically,
1: it might be a good idea to have an option for that, i also find farr THE most useful program i have.
2: It's already there! ;) Look under: "options-> interface -> Focus preservation" and select "always maintain focus".
3: it's one of the features most mentioned for farr v2
4: i think this might be related to having the more launched apps having more score, right? If so, it's yet another planed feature of V2 :D
