General Software Discussion / Please make Opera able to open Firefox!
« Last post by Curt on April 05, 2011, 01:47 PM »
I am very pleased that I have an extension for Firefox (3.6), to open Opera. But I am equally unappeased that Opera seems to have no widget for opening Firefox! Apparently it is not too hard to do, if you know how to code in the first place... I don't, and I don't know.

Please?  :tellme:

Do you still use Firefox? If so, Ctril+Shift+W was already taken, and you probably just need to find another hotkey combination.

...Stylish and this userstyle: Cursor indicator (see attachment in previous post)

excellent idea.

However, the icons look outdated and too small; they are not easy to distinct. It should not be very difficult for a pro to make them even more useful.

Now I see Cursor indicator hasn't been updated for 4½ years. That might explain something...

Including the x64 version of Win7, no sweat :)
Bolded and coloured to pin point the problem :)

-okay. You were running XP back in August 2010, and apparently still are, but already in September 2008 BC3 had some bug fixed for NT4 and Win9x (!), so I would be very surprised if BC3 doesn't work on XP.

But of course we should have a giveaway for some 64-bits Win 7 with 16GB RAM. OF COURSE!!!

I want to say a special Thank You to the (yet unknow) person who donated the awesome Maximus keyboard. What a generous gift! Pure fairytale!!

Thank you also to the members that have contacted me to congratulate me for my winning. I am extra grateful for these initiatives!  :-*

----------
For 'your' information:
I have promised to mail the keyboard to another member anywhere in the world, should I not be able to use the keyboard.

This is like winning the lottery!

Several years ago I started studying biblical texts in Ancient Greek. As time went by I lost my motivation because I could never remember where each key was placed on my computer's keyboard. I never learned to blind-type in visible Latin, so to do it in invisible Ancient Greek became too difficult a task for me.

Now I've won the Optimus Maximus keyboard which has key images including several languages, also Ancient Greek. Each key does not have a letter painted but is showing an image of a letter: meaning that when the user wants to use another language, he can simply click a button and voila! the keyboard is showing a different typeset! This is so awesome, I didn't even know it was possible! Study, I am back on track!

Thanks a lot, mouser and Carl!

Thank You!

Just like your/my SyncBreeze Pro, this is really nice, and fast to use.

However, I was more than surprised to lean that file matching rules (for the disk space analyser) is another $125. The shock may of course have been caused by my ignorance; I have no idea what it takes to implement such feature. It just *feels* way too expensive for my single, private, two-disk, PC.

Also, DiskBoss is just a little too slow scanning. I think it must be fair to compare the disk analysing part to the one of FolderSizes 5 Pro. And though I asked DiskBoss to use all 4 cores, it used 5:30 minutes to give the same result as FolderSizes gave after 4:00. I feel certain your next version will be faster.

But again, Thank You for this generous gift!

General Software Discussion / Re: What Blackberry apps do you use?

I would llike to find a good, free wifi locator.

According to this wiki article there are about 800 million new Wi-Fi devices every year, though not all for BlackBerry... But blackberry, blueberry, symbian, hi-fi wi-fi, Android Palm, iPhone uCome MeeGo, I am so confused about the hole thing. And I don't have my glasses with me...:

General Software Discussion / Re: DC is Much Smoother in Opera
« Last post by Curt on April 01, 2011, 01:31 PM »
yeah, Opera suits DC. However, I had some troubles with extensions from when I tested Opera 8 or 9. They are (of course?) not working now, and I didn't understand from the beginning that they merely were leftovers from a poorly performed removal of a previous Opera version, so I was quite disappointed with this new version and "all those extensions not working!"

I am not used to weird fonts, so I was very confused to see these unknown types of widgets:

solenoe and plotures ?!!
How can Opera's default settings give such incredible poor results on their own page?

Thankfully Opera also displayed this one from Dilbert's, which made my day after all:

A slightly scaled down version is today's giveaway. It is portable.

http://www.giveawayo...y.com/audials-one-8/

re-Edited:
Full price is now $80. Today's version gives the right to upgrade to the full version for half the normal price: $40, which also happens to be the normal upgrade price.
3293
, it wasn't at all clear that more expensive program A was also BETTER than cheaper program B.

-of course, you're right. But as our Darwin said, the more expensive version always has more features - you know, the features I then have to come to our forum and ask how to use...

I guess the thing with Platinum versus Standard versions is mostly a guy related thing. At least for software. One comparable situation I can think of is Young Women & Clothes / Shoes. In general, it doesn't really matter to try to talk sense into such shopping situations...
3294
be aware that if you happen to try to click on a button just a fraction of a second after some other box is beginning to pop up, you will quite often happen to be clicking this new button - the one you didn't think you were clicking because you were not yet aware of it. At least it happened to me on several occasions.

Did you get the newest version: https://www.donation....msg202897#msg202897 ?

I sawed, I harvested. But I was a fool for ever trying to be funny on another person's account. Sorry, cyberdiva!   :-[

Of course one might ask why on earth I should bother if any one understand why I prefer the better program A over the cheaper program B.
3296
-being a woman you of all should understand that this is not about making sense but about having the new model or not having it  8)

-thanks for the update, IanB

I don't think Soluto has any long-lasting future! As far as I can (not) see it can only be of interest if the machine has very little memory and/or many programs in Start.

--------

I posted this under their "Report a problem" in Soluto Support Community
Are you going to create a totally better way to update Soluto, please? On my Vista it is necessary to do everything from scratch; I must click each and every program just like the first time I installed Soluto Beta! [hint] I have many programs, that is why I use Soluto... [/hint]
-Curt

Their answer was to the point:

Yes.
If you are running Soluto without any problems, you do not need to update every time. We will update the community forum when there are major changes.
3298
I didn't even make it to read your post, Darwin, before I made the purchase. Yeah, I know.

The usual procedure is to install it, so I can register it at Ashampoo, and then remove it again, because it will place things in Start.

But of course you were right, Mike. I simply used some Yiggles and had it for "free". But you also know? These Yiggles does not last for ever; actually I am already down to a thousand of the kind! 3D CAD Pro 3, Photo Commander 9, Burning Studio 10, Optimizer 8, Shrink & Burn 3, they all eat Yiggles for breakfast, so to speak... I am saving the remaining 1.090 Yiggles for Burning Studio 11, it should be due any minute now! The one good thing is that once you're a Premium member, you have it all for "free", as long as there are Yiggles to pay with.
3299
-on my next pc I hope to have room for several partitions, so I can move the entire Win2k + XP + Vista enchilada, and then fix the problems. Only when it was broken did I discover why it is important to save plenty with space: the Win2k had no free space at all = impossible to fix!

---------
Regarding the thread's subject; this is why version 7 was so cheap:

This time I feel certain I won't take the offer. But time will show!  :-[
