Why I’m unfriending you on Facebook
I've gone back and forth on this.  I do want to completely stop using facebook, but it's also the main way a lot of people i know keep in touch.  Ultimately, I may not mind keeping in touch in this fashion, no offense to anyone.  But it is nice to check in and see the pics now and then.

well, the focus is on joining groups. 'Dont' seems to be the advice - and pray that no-one else joins you to any groups you dont want to be associated with.

Yup, even if you don't voluntarily join those sexual fetish groups, a friend of yours can add you to one of them as a joke, and all your friends & family will see your face and name associated with that group, recommending that they join too, on their right sidebar

It's such a weird idea - to allow other to add you to a group without your consent...

If MS uses #9 for an upgrade  numbering the next completely new O/S #10 seems perfectly logical.

well, if you put it like that ('logical'), I'll have to mention this:

Vista is NT 6.0.

Windows 7 was indeed a polishing of Vista, that's why it was NT 6.1.

not sure where that leaves 8, or 9 or 10 ...

OK, I will try that.

How about gluing multiple clips together into one?

Thanks.

in the main SC window, drag an image from the side panel (thumbnails) onto the main image - again, you'll get a dialogue with options.

=> Note that you will need the most recent version (just released today).

I suspect it's not going to be any major change/s, and hopefully they will finally get the desktop aspect 'in order'.
That should have been done long ago under the Win8 unbrella anyways.

I questioned the square screen when the Passport was 1st being talked about. After seeing it in action it makes sense. I'm talking more for business users.
For anyone interested in seeing it, here is the link to the North American kickoff. They show and talk about the square screen and why at 22 mins in.

http://live.blackberry.events/

watched about 20 minutes of that (from the 22min mark) - sounds & looks very impressive. Whachamacallit it touch/swiipe keyboard (?), if it works well, is a brilliant idea.
Amazon reviews seem quite positive (apparently the price *should* be $599 but sold out so some sellers trying to get $899).

Beautifully filmed, lovely bike, great music.
"'72 Harley Ironhead AMAZING CUSTOM"

This is a tribute video to Evolution Cycle's Custom '72 Harley Ironhead "# 22" . It contains video clipped from Stories Of Bike episode 'Forge' which I've set to 'Baby Please Don't Go' by Bob Dylan. No copyright infringement intended. Incredible bike, awesome tune. That is all.

Track of the day for me: Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child (Slight Return), Live Stockholm '69

music only starts @ 0:58 (direct link, cued)
Powerful bass there too; there's a drum solo towards the end - I always have to think of Nick Hornby claiming to have left a Led Zepplin concert during a drum solo for a quick pint and a game of pool in a pub next door - when he came back, the solo was just finishing. I can relate to that approach myself ;-)

I know that in theory a "." in a file or foldername *should* be fine, I never use them though & I know I'm not alone. You're going to run into problems somewhere, eventually.

SC is definitely not thrilled with dots in filenames.  Can you confirm that is the problem?

I tried (one time) with the same foldernames as Contro used (09.2014 & 10.2014) and it didnt work. Browsing to the folder was fine, but as he said, changing the folder path from one to the other didnt work. (In Win8.1 x64; it worked fine with 'normal' folder names.)

Living Room / Re: YouTube finally forces creation of google+ A/C to comment
« Last post by tomos on September 26, 2014, 08:21 AM »
At this stage, I suspect this is a combination of pure incompetence, and an unwillingness to let go of the ideal of having gmail and g+ and YT using the same name.

I'm going to go with incompetence.

that was funny with Chrome  :)

hasn't improved since either (with FF/win7 at any rate):

  • I can like a video, but not someone's comment
  • if I try to comment, it tries to get me to create a new g+ page (with my 'real' name as per gmail account)
  • but, I just discovered, if I share the video and click the g+ button - I'm able to post as expected (i.e. with the g+ account that I am logged into and viewing the YT page with)

so, definitely seems like incompetence

Well, I have a much better understanding of where you're coming from Iain, after your last post.

FWIW (possibly because I was brought up Catholic - and haven't heard it before) I find App's joke very entertaining, but sadly also inappropriate for dc.

@IainB, you responded to mouser's labeling of your post, but you did not respond to the general desire to keep religious (and political) topics out of this thread - and out of dc in general (exception basement). There was a general agreement to avoid political and religious topics in dc, so what I dont understand is this: why post something where it is not wanted?

^ Yeah, I neglected to say that startpage also suggests the 'correct' spelling

so definitely better than google in this case. And miles better than duckduckgo. I find I use mostly the two alternatives (duckduckgo, startpage), and occasionally google or bing. I can never remember which ones are better at what, so it's usually trial and error for me...

^ https://startpage.com/ works better I find - but very occasionally, I do have to go back to google or bing.

With StartPage, this thread was #3 (!) and this was #6 when I searched mo lay tau:

If I 'open' an image file via the SC thumbnail panel (double-click, or press enter with thumbnail selected), it opens in my windows default viewer.

Could that be used to view a large image full-size in another monitor?

Would you consider an option to not resize, but e.g. centre one image beside the other, using the existing option "transparent etc" to fill in the 'background' ?
already done. redownload beta.

lol, you're like roadrunner there -
did you just whip that up in 13 minutes ?? (is that a dc record ????)

Well done, works a treat

(Resizing one image with text makes it blurry compared to the other...)
