it also sounds like not a coding snack but a feature that would be useful in a visual html editor - della is doing a review of html editors for dc, maybe she can keep her eye open for such features.

Finished Programs / Re: DONE: an "importer" for abbreviations into AHK
« Last post by mouser on March 02, 2006, 08:35 PM »
this might be a good chance to remind people that when you see a little green $ next to someone's name (like the one next to jgpaiva's name) you can make a donation to them if you want to thank them for help or for coding something, etc.

by supporting those who help out and contribute to the site, we will make the site a more useful place for everyone, and ensure that it continues to improve.  remember that your donations are not just rewards for work well done, but think of it as funding continued furture work and support.

they probably fixed it by now, it's making the rounds on all the announcement sites.

yep, made with bb flashback.
ps. see our review of screencasting tools here: https://www.donation...enCasting/index.html

let me say that i completely agree that too many options can hurt - they make it harder to find the options you really need and care about.

i think in the future we will probably eventually move to a standardized options control interface, and perhaps with some way of switching betten a simple main view and full view, etc.
32710
getting back on topic - i think we should update the website change review, some new programs have come to light since the review.  if anyone wants to write their impressions of the new programs it might be a nice start.

« Last post by mouser on March 02, 2006, 05:10 PM »
i think what he wants is to be able to edit a web page file of his own, and easily change horizontal rule (HR) line colors.
32712
i agree with both comments about dir opus and wsw options - they are overwhelming.  not sure if that can be fixed though.
the main thing is that in both cases you can just ignore them and use the programs without worrying about them.

Living Room / New Gmail vulnerability

http://www.neowin.ne...ct=view&id=32435

"javascript will run if it is withing the preview of the message" meaning that hackers could grab email addresses or possibly steal cookies and compromise Google accounts. It's surprising that this vulnerability existed and who knows how long this has been a hole.

apparently the hole was first discovered/reported by a 14yr old on his blog :)

« Last post by mouser on March 02, 2006, 11:28 AM »
http://www.cbsnews.c...md/main1342839.shtml

"[Milk] is a sports drink ‘plus.’ It will supply you with things you need whether or not you’re working out."
A new study shows that plain old chocolate milk may be as good -- or better -- than sports drinks like Gatorade at helping athletes recover from strenuous exercise.. published in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism.

« Last post by mouser on March 02, 2006, 11:26 AM »
you can click any listing to show other listings by same person;
so if you have doubt, just do that and it will give you a pretty good clue (ie they are selling 100 of them).

yes, shipping scams are proliferating there.

if you follow my golden rule for ebay you will have a good experience:  do not buy from companies on ebay.

if you see an item, the frist thing to figure out is, is it being sold by a real person selling a few things, or someone running a business on ebay or using ebay as a portal for their business.  if you restrict yourself to stuff sold by real people not businesses you will do fine.

ebay used to be really amazing when it was mostly real people selling to real people, now there are so many scammy businesses trying to sell their normal overpriced stuff on it that it's hard to find the real stuff :(
