General Software Discussion / Re: Considering going Android all the way

It can't hurt to try. Anywhere you can stow the laptop for a while while you experiment?

Perhaps this will satisfy your need. I use it but can't vouch for how it handles seriously long documents. It claims 1,000,000 characters but, try as I might, I cannot muster that many with which to test it.

The Holographic Universe
The Revolutionary Theory Of Reality
by Michael Talbot

Published in 1991 but new to me.
"...all matter exists in a vast web of connection"

An interesting challenge to my own existentialist view of life, viz. nothing matters and what if it did.

When I worked at IBM we all sat in these:
Vance Packard had much for which to atone.

New version uploaded, recursive update looping should be fixed now.

Working well now.
Can't find anything, anywhere in DCU, that fails to scale appropriately.

Notification fint foxed

DCU can't find CH+S despite having just installed it.

A whole lotta loopin' goin' on (see image)

DCUApr2.png

333
1) During installation DCU gave me something along the lines of "the following process needs to be closed..." but no mention of what that process is.
2) After a brief dance with this I uninstalled the updater.
3) Installed again and was informed that there are no valid update packages.
4) Had DCU system notifications in a font so huge that only a word or two would fit.

Will I have better luck on April 2nd?
Baffled on Baffin Island.  :o

Maintenance on the machine is becoming the primary purpose of the machine it seems.  Get your computing in using one hour per day because the other waking hours will be consumed maintaining the system.

Ain't that the truth!

Never mind, the Creator's update will change all that for Win10 - not fix it, just change it  ;)

So one should be cagey?

The "vault" at fault, you could say...  :P

You know that this will end in gridlock.
336
We recommend that you do not perform this action.
Were you to do this, your fingers would drop off and your nose split and peel back.

New beta version has been uploaded.
Working well for me.

(Kaspersky didn't have anything to say to me about it, but then so many people are the same way.)
339
Any testing would be appreciated.

The flashing on startup is gone, now I can abandon my raincoat

On most changes I see an LBC requester:
IN TTreeForm::DoRebuildNow1.

Any testing would be appreciated.
Not really what you're looking for but when the error message about autosize/stretch appears, if one opens the configuration menu without first closing the warning message, then LBC locks up.

Plus, can you be more explicit about turning off stretch? I don't see an entry that matches your wording. If I check 'on' for Do not stretch, on the second docking panel, nothing seems to change.

341
Glad to hear it, thanks for testing
The 'enter license' panel could use a bit of sizing help.
342
I've very anxious to hear how the new beta works for folks, especially the option to customize icon/button sizes.

Looks good on high dpi
343
As you were posting that, the light bulb came on, albeit flickering dimly, and I tried 48, which is just fine.   :-[
344
Can I confirm something?

Testing it here I see that the grid row size is too small when the "Grid Row Height" number is set to 0 as it is by default, and I will try to fix that.
But I am able to manually set a custom "Grid Row Height" that seems to make the grid look correct with whatever font size I choose.

Can you confirm that, or take a screenshot to show me what the problem is?

GridFont set to 12.PNG

Grid font size set to 12, Row height set to 24, font she no fit in grid.

If it's okay in your version I've doubtless failed to grasp a concept....?

v2.41.0 Beta - Mar 15, 2017
Looks a lot nicer on 3000x2000
Under "Custom Appearance" I need to set the grid font higher than the standard to, say, 12 but I can't get grid row height to adapt to that. I get text that's 'chopped off' at the bottom. In the previous versions I had grid font at 12 and row height at 24. Any chance of a fix for that?

Haven't tried on high dpi yet but it's nice to have working scaling on standard displays

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Hoping to add custom icon sizes soon
« Last post by cranioscopical on March 11, 2017, 12:40 PM »
are you using the latest version?
Yes. I just downloaded the latest and installed that in case version numbers weren't updated. Like the roof, there's quite a bit of flashing.
(I can send you dock files if you wish but it might be better for you to continue with icon sizing.)

Good news about icons sizes!

This is a bit off topic but on my systems, say I have 4 hidden launch bars, when LBC starts up it redraws the bars for what seems to be the number of times that there are bars.

Unless I've done something wrong (which is almost unheard of... just ask my wife) would it be difficult to suppress that behaviour while you are looking at this program? Obviously it's not vital but there's a certain annoyance factor associated with the flashing effect that this causes.

...but the new version is much improved

I just pulled up SSC options and things are a bit small in the previous version.
