I'm not sure I will go for more sophistication than the virtual desktops. (At the moment, that improvement is making me happy.)

I do have a question about the system tray or notification area.  It seems like that should have a quick improvement tab that shows you names and whatevers.   It really is more than notifications, it is used by many programs as an alternate taskbar area.  Leading to abundant hovering.

That leads to another question. In Windows 7, can all programs that are in the system tray be pinned to taskbar?  That would be a leveling method, and would work well with my virtual desktop usage. And then maybe just leave a couple of system monitors in the "notification" area.

Yes I think I will start a thread here ... title something like:

"questions about stickies ... the NoteZilla memoboard paradigm"

And that will be the one thread where I will place the Notezilla quirks and needs.
Snap-to-grip, or something like that, likely being #1. Tabs on top would be a wonderful complement to the tree structure.  Is that asking too much in the road-map? This really relates to the memoboard full-blown personal and project note system.

And I am interested in hearing what people don't like about this memoboard use.  Clearly you don't have sophisticated tables and spreadsheets and stuff like that as in some full-blown note implementations like Rightnote.  Internal linking should be compared.

Also you do not have publish-to-web as in
TreePad - Memobook - MyInfo -Mynoteskeeper
(I quickly went to my memoboard to find that short list.)

And one major element of the thread will be what I find important benefits, aspects and needs in Notezilla.
Also a general go-with-the-flow discussions of comparison of the "Big Three":

(And why can't anybody do web pages the neat Internote way, working with urls instead of window names.)

As I have indicated, it seems that NoteZilla is only one with a fine memoboard implementation (it looked like you lack a corkboard background ) and for me, this is the single most important feature.  Tree structure, whitespace be-gone, pleasant RTF and colors, those are the basics that I require.  And this crosses the line from sticky to note system, and a week or two has only increased the significance.  

Again, a forum, or a section in a forum in the Wilders ways, would discuss such uses, and generate interest.  

And I definitely recommend that you make up a special page emphasizing the potential utility of memoboards as a full-blown note system. It took me many years to see the potentiality.  (And I would not be surprised if some of the other sticky systems come up with an implementation, so you want a head-start in user base and feedback.)

I'd like to look at the various synch capabilities, since stickies, other than implementations like the Listhings memoboard and Internote or Diigo, are inherently desktop.

What it would mean to try to do quick-print. And even publish to web. (e.g. either export to HTML or screen snaps to web). If screenshots, I'll probably try an ad hoc implementation, maybe using ShareX, Greenshot or Screenshot Captor.  Also maybe using macro automation.  The export to HTML works fine, although it ends with a white-space page. Hmmm .. how about a visual maintained export.

I'm hoping to try out the whole network and transferring aspect.  There, cost and convenience come to play and some people might end up using more than one sticky system.

Just a note, I am really talking here about the home systems, usually one to five PCs floating around or with friends, each one different than the other.  You are using an image largely for malware and sluggish slowdown and disk fail (buying a replacement) and OS corruption protection.  There are other applications with cloning and biz use that are different.

On most systems, one major limitation of the free version in restoring on the same computer, with an attempted restore after you change the partition size. My understanding: even if the partition could fit, a free version will plead ignorance and not try.

Here Aomei is said to be an exception:

This is one reason I would make Aomei one of the versions, if you using free versions.  
Note: I would still make a new image right after any partition changes.  The partition changes often have to do with a Linux multi-boot, or special partitions for data or whatevers.

Another concern would be restoring an image on a totally different system. I think this is a sophisticated usage, and even when it is supported, it can be problematic.  As long as you do the data backup independently of the image, I think this can be bypassed as a consideration.

Do not rely fully on images for mission-critical, unless you have personally confirmed that the image can also be seen and restored file-by-file and is recent enough. For my take, I don't bother with that type of ongoing image check, my ongoing backups will be data file-by-file.  I like DriveHQ for remote because of a strong file manager and some support for mapping. Locally I have a Western Digital MyBook Essentials and some others.

Since the purpose of the created CD in my case is simply to restore a partition(s), I don't see any need for Windows PE.
It is good to have a stash of rescue CDs, even if you could conceivably create them on another puter in an emergency.

Another possibility in culprit-hunting is to look for the date of the install of the browser hijacker and see what was installed that day.  The last time I ran into that type of situation, I used Everything and sorted the files on disk by creation date, a flat-view.

I may need do a little study and trial here.  Along with Outline 4D and I noticed WIT (Web Idea Tree) and Open Element and some others in my studies.  The question here is the interplay between study, research, outline and structure, writing and web writing. (See also below, Connected Text.)  I think there is a tendency for reviews to see less than the big picture.  Maybe MyInfo and Ultra Recall is in here as being somewhat multi-dimensional.  And I chuckle every time Ultra Recall is mentioned because it was my fav program a gazillion years ago.

Going a bit afield, Memonic remains interesting, and I ran across a new bookmarking start page possibility called Mojave.  

And Notezilla still is the one place I want to do personal notes. You just got to get over the "Sticky Note" mentality, for this it is a Memoboard. Let me give an example. I was struggling looking at gmail notifiers, for a specific need. And struggling about how to keep my notes (e.g. this program looks good, but is quirky and allows multiple instances, a no-no.) And once I set up a Notifiers memoboard in Notezilla, it was all well-formed, trivial go get in and out, quick and pleasant. For that type of ad hoc need, I have not found anything close. Notezilla with RTF and tree has replaced the web-based Listhings with tabs. (Tree and tabs are ultra-best.)

Here you have a group of independent boxes (conceptually could be columns or tiles) and the size is variable (increases as data comes in.)  
That, and your picture, are at least in my ballpark.

As to why Notezilla is working for me, so far, I can get in, find, and add or change very quickly. Looks good.  Allows emphasis. Tree tells me what section I am in. Can move a note from a memoboard to another board super-easily.  When a page gets crowded, you set up a sub-page and put a few related items down there. It actually is very easy to work with.

And  I did not realize what is for me the actual best use capability of Notezilla till recently (maybe I'll set up a set of 4 pics) .. no forum, few pics.  I thought of the memoboard only in the context of the note manager, and everybody has a manager, so it was no great shakes.  At the time.

Likely a similar situation with Rightnote.

(I will mention again Listhings, that I only pass by mainly because of the RTF lack. Quite a web page organizer and I have a lot in there ready to move to Notezilla.)

And I agree that you won't find a single tool that does everything.   In my situation, the goal is to have a few tools that help with quick notes, structured research and writing and publishing to the web.  Within the quick notes, I find the concepts behind Notezilla, Rightnote and Listhings all very friendly, even while very different.  Rightnote allows for more advanced types of organization.

The (stickies) memoboard as a column-based editor, flexible size rectangles, has turned out to be my fav, as in the pic below.

Also I want to look at some of the benefits, and some of the needs, with Notezilla if you use it this way.  Other sticky programs can be considered if they have a memoboard implementation.  This thread may double as my Notezilla discussion thread.  One reason I am ready for this is that I have some of the elements nicely laid out on my Notezilla memoboard dedicated to Stickies programs! Notezilla helps me keep track of Notezilla weaknesses as well as strengths.

Web-based memoboard implementations (eg. Listhings, which only lacks the RTF, having tabs rather than a tree structure) can also be compared.  My requirements will differ from others, so by going over the major feature set, it might help with the idea.

Overlap areas. They will not be the prime decision areas. Why?  Because I am in my note program 20-50 times in a day.  It really wants to be pleasant and quick.  If the note program I like the most is only used with USB or Dropbox style sharing, that is fine by me. For this function, I don't want a less happy program just for the "use easily anywhere" experience. I also like the fact that Notezilla and Vueminder will be happy Taskbar companions, always one click away, never lost in the Tab Maze.

Saying that, I will acknowledge that  Listhings, a free web-memoboard, able to be used anywhere, is quite fine overall for many note uses. I simply like my notes in RTF, which is not available, and there is no active development. Backing up and persistence up is also less clear. If a webboard did have all the basics, it might surpass using Notezilla.

Hmmm... I mention this because there is a type of data relatedness that makes these programs central. The first step on the net is Xerpi, as a startpage.

Other browsers are used, Facebook has its place, document programs are utilized. At work, there is a CRM / project and task manager, yet the group above make my daily personal net navigation experience. Contacts can be in Linkman, often with the keyword "addy", so this bypasses the PIM. (VueMinder can do structured contacts with custom fields, if needed also there are free web CRMs). At the moment Listpro and Todolist and Task Coach and Swift Todo and database and others are mostly on vacation. Rightnote is curtailed, on a diet.

Overall, I want to put as much as possible into the Notezilla and Linkman quasi-freeform structure. Many databases are de facto in Linkman, like software registrations with keyword SN#.  Screenshots and file managers and utilities and  DriveHQ and backup are a separate region. Documents and writing and research are a separate region.

Trello looks good for a personal or collaborative hybrid of project manager and todo list.

(Right now we are using Insightly for this collaboratively, as part of a CRM. Not as visual
yet rather a decent tool.  It has been quite a "hit" for the 4 person collaboration.)

As a master note list Trello looks like it simply has fixed column lengths, lacks RTF and
the memoboard structure is not a visual tree with subunits. Somewhat of a different
tool.

The Notezilla memoboards allow flexible output and visual emphasis, a big plus for
your own notes and remembrance situation.

Notezilla has become my standard of comparison.

btw, I had done the Notezilla review here many years back, and then had not used
it for some years.  I came back to it through the back-door, looking for a flexible
column editor and notes schema ... web or desktop.  So far, good.

Notezilla also seems good for the web page annotation  theme although getting it
attached to the page is multi-step, it would be nice if it could have an Internote
style extension icon in Firefox.  However, there may be architecture questions.

Beyond  that, networking and such, I am hoping that Gautam Jain (Conceptworld)
will engage in more in depth discussions on a singular thread or a new forum.

Gautam, c'mon .. we know you appreciate the positive chatter, and can point us to Notezilla,
now why don't you do a bit more in dialog?  We've got questions and ideas, maybe you have

Note that in another thread, with a pic too, I really decided to return to NoteZilla because of your excellent memoboard implementation.  This, combined with RTF and a tree structure and pleasant interface.  And I have not found anything comparable, neither web nor desktop apps.  This makes Notezilla my master short note place, starting yesterday.  Working fine. luv it.  

(For forum friends, Stickies, which we know is an excellent freeware program, only has backdoor methods to try to approach this memoboard functionality, at this time.  There is a thread on the Zhorn forum about the request.)

Here are a couple of NoteZilla questions.

1) To use the network features, does each participating (even if just receiving) computer have to have a full independent license? What if they are your home puters?  This might be on your site, but maybe you can chat about it here.  Is there a need for a yearly subscription service?

2) Snap to grid .. making solid rectangles in some way.  
Any available function short of hand twiggling?  (This was one place where Stickies shines.)

3) Why not have a forum of sorts? Or at least a dedicated thread here?  We might be able to help with ideas of how and where and who.  Good solid software with longevity is hard to find.  Plus in the right environment you can have a high level of posting.

Apparently they have a Salesforce-related add-on that is popular.The Desktop App means it does not easily get lost in the Tab Maze. (Chat programs HipChat and Pidgin were other recent examples for me where the Desktop App really helps. Similarly the NoteZilla memoboards.)

Menomic has a full RTF editor, receives pics from the clipboard nicely, a tree structure and good sharing capabilities. Make a page public and you might have a

1) de facto blog post or
2) project info at work online, very visible

In a way that is hard to accomplish with various other tools.  I'm considering using it for that dual purpose mainly.  (Note: apparently does not have column capabilities.)

Possibly a quasi-word processor article holding place (alternatives: Atlantis WP and RightNote).  Especially if it is unicode happy.  That would be an interesting 3-tool comparison, where each tool represents a genre.  Maybe I should check the HootSuite type of tool as well, which is supposed to be a place-holder for multi-blogs. Then add Google Docs and Drive with helpers in the mix as another alternative.  I write up some articles on Bible issues that might want to take a Greek or Hebrew font, so that is why I mention unicode.

Menomic seems to have flown under the radar by the Evernote, Onenote, Ubernote, craze.
Plus all the web collaboration and planner and web note programs.  

Yet it might fill a hybird niche very nicely.  Anybody using it?

Architecture difference.
PNotes and NoteZilla work with a Window API name, and allow the use of * (and ? wildcard in PNote) for name flexibility.

The Internote note is the most persistent (not dependent on focus) and quickest in addition to having the nicest url architecture.  And keeps a relative position on the webpage.

NoteZilla and PNote keep a window position (which is better? sort of depends).  NoteZilla has been very active recently.
Internote is the least pleasant, with minimal features and I was frustrated a bit by the resizing.

The PNote pinning has hit some snags.  Hit an SQL exception and a difficulty in actually bringing up the pinning window aspect in the Manage section or from the note.  However, still some potential and now it seems stabilized.

So far none of the three is fully comfortable, all have some potential.  If I was choosing one, probably NoteZilla, even though paid $ (I own a #7 license and would upgrade to 8, currently on trial.)
