So technically if this is the case then shouldn't it be rightful to sue Microsoft and others OS makers for making OS's which can run programs that can download illegal content?  After all it is happening within software they created...

There's a lot of programs (photo viewers, folder size calculators, ...) that take a folder path as their argument.

Let me think about adding support for folders.

Hi Ham Radio,

I was wondering what I would type in, using your ingenious FF technique, in FF to just capture a screen shot of what I see on a website using FF?

Instead of typing in ... screenshot --fullpage ...would I type in screenshot --just this screen?

Thank you so much!

Just typing in screenshot should work.

As for that last topic the authors reply to the user...

I don't suppose you took a screenshot of that offer screen did you?

I have no way of knowing if I'll see the same one should I ever get offered that application.
-LIGHTNING UK!

If I was going to do something it would definitely not use a system that provides random offers not knowing what offers my product users might get offered to them for that very reason...  To me it would be like letting the fox guard the hen house.

Hamradio,

Is there a setting which can be changed so I can direct where I want the web page png file saved?

Ex. in FF under Options > Downloads I have it set to always ask me where I want the file to be saved.

I didn't see in the web developer toolbar or options where I could set it to prompt me where I wanted a web page captured as a png to be saved.

Does it have that flexibility?

Thanks so much.

-eager to learn (April 22, 2014, 01:10 PM)

Switch to the other setting for options > downloads change the directory to the one you want, then switch back to always ask.  See if that will work for you as it should keep the directory you pick there even tho you switch it back to always ask.  Let us know if that works. :)

Hey Hamradio,

You're a genius!!

I just followed your suggestion - screenshot --fullpage and sure enough it copied the whole page and saved it.

Do you know of any way to tell FF which folder to save the png file in?

Or does it have to save it to a particular folder every time?

Thanks you ever so very much!!

For my system I have a drive I and was able to do I:test.png and it saved it to my drive I.

You can also just do:

screenshot --fullpage

It will format the name like...

Hey Hamradio,

I think you're on to something!

In my FF version 24 I can select Tools>Web Developer>Developer Toolbar (you're correct it is also Shift/F2).

I've never used this function so I kinda' get lost after that.

There's a command-type prompt which appears at the bottom of the screen with all sorts of things.

I'm not sure what my next step is after laughing the developer toolbar?

I'm not clear on how to get to screenshot yourfilename.png --fullpage?

I'm also not sure how to ...screenshot --clipboard --fullpage?

I can press the PrntScreen button on my keyboard but I don't think that will grab the whole webpage as I scroll down, or can it?

Also, how do I reach ...help screenshot?

Thank you ever so much!
-eager to learn (April 22, 2014, 10:43 AM)

You just click inside the little tiny bar that appears at bottom and type out the lines I showed and if doing the yourfilename.png one you would put what you want where yourfilename is. :)

If you are just going to capture web pages...

If you can find the developer toolbar in Firefox I believe you can do something like...
Note: In Firefox 29 Beta you can press Shift + F2 to open it and it may be the same in older versions, but I am unsure.

screenshot yourfilename.png --fullpage

I believe the screenshot will go into your downloads folder. (Note: The file will only be saved as a png file.)

You can also just copy it to clipboard for pasting in paint or other application...

screenshot --clipboard --fullpage

For further help on options for screenshot you would use:

help screenshot

No addon needed I believe for that one.

Okay try re-downloading the beta from the location mentioned before and let me know what you think. I am still debating on how I am displaying it at the moment, so thoughts would be nice. Seems I cant get it to follow the mouse though atm. It will appear near where the mouse first enters the dropzone though.

Feature Request:

Open with dialog should only appear when I hover the file for more than two second, otherwise it should open by default application.

I hope it will help everyone.

Thanks

I think that would be not possible to do, since it does not run in the background monitoring everything launched if you are sending it directly to the main launcher.

However if you are using the drop zone for it (which basically just redirects the dropped filename to the main launcher at this time)...I might be able to do something to make it launch the first program that it finds from the list you added of programs that can handle the extension.

Exactly, sorry for the ambiguity. Actually asked for:

trigger                                                                     Action
----------                                                                  ----------
dropping a file without any time delay                        open it with first program suitable for dropped files extension
hovering a file over drop zone, and then dropping it    show open with dialog of pew

I hope it clears the doubt.

Will take a look at it.

Backup your pew files, then goto... http://carrolld.dcmembers.com/pew/ and download the one with beta in the filename and try it.

Right click the pew dropzone and choose "Delayed Open With".

Please report back on any bugs or if it is doing okay in your testing.  It is a beta version and might be a little buggy atm.
