another similar tool: http://www.easyphp.org/

EasyPHP is a complete software package allowing to use all the power and the flexibility that offers the dynamic language PHP and the effecient use of databases under Windows. Package includes an Apache server, a MySQL database, a fully PHP execution, as well as easy development tools for your web site or your applications

the problem was that when the truncation occurred there were two files on the cd with the same name in the same directory, so the OS could only open 1 of them - the other was inaccessible.
32354
the only trouble is, if i remember correctly, at least once in the past, i had 2 long filenames which had same beginings.  result was a cd with 2 identically seeming filenames on it - one of which could not be retrieved for this reason.  it may also cause trouble if its truncating a directory name, so be wary.

General Software Discussion / play music together over the internet
« Last post by mouser on March 27, 2006, 12:56 AM »
This has been making the rounds on the internet - cool idea and some demo movies on the site to watch.

Say you’re putting a band together and you can’t find a killer bass player in your town. Or you’re sitting there sequencing a great piece of music but your drumming sucks and you’re no Eddie Van Halen on guitar. Or your old band mates now live in Seattle, New York and Nashville and you’d kill to play together again. What’s the answer?
The eJamming® Station
Just plug any digital instrument – a MIDI-enabled keyboard, a MIDI-enabled guitar or MIDI-enabled bass, MIDI-enabled drums, or a MIDI-enabled wind-controller -- into your PC or Mac computer, fire up the eJamming® Station and we’re connecting you over the Internet to a whole world of musicians across town – or across the ocean.
In Sync. In Real Time. Or in as close to real time as the laws of physics allow.

How can we benchmark a programming language?
We can't - we benchmark programming language implementations.

i find one of the best places to get help on error messages is to search google GROUPS. this is not the same as the normal google: type in your search and hit the GROUPS links above.

Official Announcements / We did some board section reorganization today
« Last post by mouser on March 26, 2006, 01:40 PM »
we've done some minor reorganization of board section today to help make it easier to find what you are looking for.

one significant change is that we've created a section for permanent instructions for using some of the forum features, instead of putting such topics in the official announcements section: https://www.donation...index.php?board=83.0

some ideas to think about for a future version:
it might be nice to have some date-based rule for adding timestamp -
like maybe:
add dates only to bookmarks that are 3 months old or newer, others as normal.

or
add full dates only to bookmarks 3 months old or newer
within 1 year old they get YYYYMM
beyond 1 year they get YYYY

(this could actually be very useful as a way of quickly separating old from new).
32365
i do subgroup my bookmarks into a nice deep rich organization, but i still often quickly add a bunch to root and only periodically file them away, and i frequently get completely lost trying to find one i was just at, even though i know that i bookmarked it very recently.  this lets me find it immediately.

Then I used imageshack http://imageshack.us/ to host the pictures.

you know you can attach pictures to a post (just select the Additional Options choice at the bottom of post screen), and than insert them anywhere in your post (see https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1996.0 for how).

i think i should probably add a 16x16 and 32x32 preset size menu entries to the "select preset size" submenu in edit menu, seems like it might help with this task in the future.

that's useful to know..
i think you can do what you want if you create an alias called d
and have one entry there, for digg.com.

and make sure farr is configure to "launch first entry when pressing enter"

that should let you type d and hit enter to do what you say.

id be interested to hear if you can get it to work and what further suggestions you might have about making it easier and cleaner, as i can definitely see why that would be something that one would want to be able to do quickly and easily, and there is no reason farr shouldnt be made to fulfill that purposes.  maybe a nice simple wizard would be useful to help people make aliases..

As you may know i've been working for weeks on the new micro donation system for use here at donationcoder.com.
It's almost done and i think it's shaped up really nicely.

But a number of people have pointed out that there may be some strange legal/tax issues involve (i.e. if someone makes a donation to the site, but half of it goes into their account for them to decide how to donate to others at their leisure, how should that money be treated for tax purposes, and what other legal ramifications are there of such a system).

The amounts of money coming into the site have always been small enough that I tend to view such issues as more academic than of practical consequence, but i think the microdonation system, which places the site somewhat in the roll of being a middlemad does complicate things a little, to the point where i think it's probably best to get a little legal advice.

So anyway, does anyone know a good place online to get some legal advice on issues like this?
Or anyone here have a legal background that might have some advice/insight about this issue?

at the risk of beating a dead horse i just want to say i am LOVING this snack.

another nice thing about it is that, ironically the fact that new bookmarks dont get timestamped is actually a nice thing, because it makes it even easier to find bookmarks you have just recently added, until you want to update the timestamps.

i should have asked for this a long time ago - suddenly i can find the new bookmarks and see the order in which i added them..

im really enjoying this one - i don't generally love puzzle games but this one has a really nice balance of being able to "play" and experiment and a good balance of difficulty and not having to repeat annoying stuff when you fail.  plus it has the ethereal quality of being satisfying to interact with.

Living Room / orboxb - nice simple but hard flash puzzle game
« Last post by mouser on March 25, 2006, 05:14 PM »
Your goal is to guide your 'box' from start-point to end-point. The catch? You can only move in the four cardinal directions and you will only be stopped once striking an object. Don't worry, none of the other objects move or can hurt you, but that will hardly make your job any easier. As pure puzzle solving game with 30 levels, this one isn't the most innovative game you'll play this week, but it could very well be one of the most mind-bending.

quite nice! just use cursor keys to move.

i just wonder how such people make it through a complete day without running into a fatal accident. seems like an absolute miracle that they make it into maturity and reproduce.

i imagine his day goes something like this:

gets up and makes some coffee and turns on the radio.
calls radio station to acuse radio reporter of causing the robberies he heard about on the radio.
gets in his car for work, takes time to threaten his neighbor with a lawsuit for the price of gasoline.
buys a sandwhich at lunch and tells the shopkeep he will call the fbi unless the shopkeep fixes the breaks on his car.
at quiting time asks the secretary to explain why his television has stopped working.
etc.

love the way you laid out the images scruffdaddy!! how did you do it?

2nd question - hahaha you are using both find and run robot and slickrun?!!? don't they do the same thing? i think you better tell me what slickrun has that find+run doesn't have that makes it still nescesary because whatever that thing is it must be something good :)
