Er... I've just updated from beta 4 build 5 to beta 4 build 10. GUI is a bit more "refined" in some intangible way... maybe I'm getting used to it. The little tweaks and functional updates are nice, I am finding v.4 much easier to use.

Jim - I've neither checked the scheduler on SFFS 4 nor taken Multiset Almeza for a test drive  :o I'll try to get to that today.

General Software Discussion / Re: What Are Your Views On BUGS?
« Last post by Darwin on February 03, 2008, 09:12 AM »
I went with other. It's all about the context, baby!

My concern isn't so much bugs per se, but how gracefully, promptly and effectively a "cure" is made available when bugs arise. If the application is actively developed and the developer/developement team are pleasant, then I can tolerate bugs because I am confident that the bug will be fixed. If fixes never come and all I read/hear is defensiveness and a litany of excuses - usually that it's the end user's or another application's fault - then I am less happy about bugs...

NB If the fault DOES lie with the end-user's system config and/or another application in conflict with the app and this is effectively communicated, then I can accept that if I am affected it will be up to me to either harrass the other applications' development team for a fix, live with the bug, or lose one of the conflicting applications...

I like skrommel's Accents. I never saw it before.  :-[ Thanks Darwin.

Yeah... heh, heh - another one of those classic, and oft repeated, moments wherein I fork out cash for some "unique" solution only to find a free one almost immediately following receipt of the registration e-mail. I'll never be a rich man... (at least not in the monetary sense  ;)).

Thanks, Mamoun! I've had absolutely no trouble so far with the beta, am enjoying the support for both NetSnippets and Roboform and the performance tweaks that have been made

Curt, if you haven't already installed this to give it a try, I'm pretty comfortable suggesting that you do! Note my comment in my previous post about M1 and M2 coexisting, if you're at all worried. I'm going to switch my wife from M1 to M2 as soon as 2.0.8 comes out of beta.

;D That was the way I read mouser's post, too!

Not that they will listen to me, of course. But it'll get it off my chest, and of they do hear that enough from their users, you never know - it might just affect their future behavior!

;D There are two on my system for sure that do this and I've only received a response from the $20 one... The $2000 hasn't deigned to respond!

I'll try typing that secret phase in Notepad, never bothered to do so 'til now ;D

In the page you linked in your message, search for "Notepad Phrases" :)

;D Good thing one of us can remember things that happened earlier than last week  :o Thanks for clearing that up

Dunno, Curt... I just use the left Alt key for everything else (it's the way I intuitively do it anyway) and I don't have anything else the specifies the AltGr key (right Alt key). YMMV, of course!

I received this offer as well. Curt, do you use TuneUp Utilities? I do not - must have trialled it at some point in the distant past (hence the offer) - and wonder how it fares compared to Ashampoo WinOptimizer?

Nice - they even plug into a currecy converter and convert currency at the prevailing rate. Really refreshing after still being offered about 80 cents to the US dollar for purchases in Canadian funds on some sites!

Anyway, actually dropped in here to post that this is still an active offer. I use Acronis TrueImage Echo Workstation but this looks like an affordable, and nice, alternative. I've tried other Paragon products in the past and have been very impressed.

Thanks, Curt

PS I clicked on the link in the quote above to make sure that it doesn't contain any personal information about you (as Ashampoo offer links tend to do) and can confirm that it does not  :)

It's not free, but Mophy Accents is super easy to install and use:

If you need an ä, simply press the right hand Alt key (Alt Gr) and the letter A. Mophy Accents shows you all the accented letter "A"s and you pick the one you want - simple!

Mophy Accents A.png

Of course, there is skrommel's Accents as well, which is also very easy to use:

Press a key three times or more to apply accents.
3223
I advise caution. Some naughty programmes place installation files in the user %temp% folder that are essential for the operation of the programme (and in their absence require re-installation) or successful uninstallation of the programme. Extremely irritating
