This is nicely done, Perry!

Is there any way to see more width of the list of possible time zones, maybe some sort of tool-tip?
There are multiple options for places, some of which encompass different times, and it's hard to see which is the one item to choose for 'favourites'.

Thanks again.

If we had known that SA is the DRIEST state in the driest continent, we might have had second thoughts about buying our house LOL

Think of the benefits, you won't suffer from rising damp  ;)

@Target
(I did not change Win+V)
Relying only on Explorer.exe:
  • No drop target appears
  • F12 does nothing
  • Crlt-alt-x kills it propoly.
3154
@Target
Haven't looked at this one before.
When I run it, neither a tray icon nor a 'drop box' appears.
I don't have a Win key to try so I'll look in the script later to change that.
Also, I use DirOpus so I'll have to revert to hExplorer, in order to jinx my system sufficiently.
At the moment I'm having to work for a crust... that'll be the fifth day this month!
Since usually (when I do so) I do this from home, I don't have long leisurely bus rides during which to play with software.

@PhilB66
MaimThatFile works just fine for me.
I was unable to make one version work, until I deleted every single thing related to it and started from scratch with the latest variant.
Perhaps that will help in your case, also.
3155
The script doesn't do a thing either.
BTW, I was trying to run another script of yours, MaimThatFile.ahk, and got this error message:
That Target guy sure has a weird sense of humour!
3156
it would look quite nice in the right colors rather than a weird patterned fabric, like they used.
I'll have you know that fabric is torn from my favourite shirt, lost to me lo these 40 years!

I generally change my settings to allow writing of  r e a l l y  l o n g  n a m e s  (joliet?)
Oh, the cr*p you let onto your system!
It's time for a better scheme than that.
Wherefore art thou, Romeo?

What a fowl alternative that would be!

Icing on the cake would be some form of live highlighting that responds to the spinner
-cranioscopical (April 21, 2009, 07:23 AM)
not sure how if that is even possible, but I'll have a look -
It's not worth more than three or four bus trips.
My problem is that I find it a bit difficult to count characters on the screen but that's for me to solve if the coding is a swine to do.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of this
 (see attachment in previous post)
changes would be displayed in real time, but not applied until you actually APPLY them
-Target
The live preview thing looks spiffy.

and just out of curiosity, has this been of any use to you?
-Target
Not addressed to me, but heck no! For my part I was simply stringing you along to see how far you'd take it :)

Kidding aside, this is a very nice tool and I certainly do appreciate the effort that's gone into it.
I still burn stuff to CDs for use in one of our cars and file names can be a problem there.
MTF will be very useful.

So.. we could probably get a custom looking Cody plushy for $6 a piece.
Have you thought about the army of under-age Cody chicks forced out of the nest before dawn in order to labour at producing these?

For shame, I say!

Persist in this and I'll have you brought up before the beak.

3161
Well now how am I going to find a way to torment you?

I'm sure you'll come up with something (your challenge, should you choose to except it...)
Leave it out, mate, that's impossible!

I might try my hand at a version with a preview of the changes...
-Target
Icing on the cake would be some form of live highlighting that responds to the spinner,
such that the effect of setting mid values would be visible in the display.

My initial idea was making it black-on-black so nobody can read it!
Less a theme than a black whole.
3163
Clearly it's me...

clearly...

to be honest I have no idea what your problem might be (hehehe) - try deleting all your current verions and running the attached and see what happens (at least we'll be sure to be running the same versions)

Did that. Works now. Well done!
Odd, because the version I was using was the most recent previous one (that fixed the comma-in-name issue).

Well now how am I going to find a way to torment you?

did you click on the MRU menu option (it doesn't automagically display)

it's working here
 (see attachment in previous post)
what's in your ini file (curious to know if the MRU entries are getting saved)

Yes, I did click the MRU menu option. Nothing occurs -- no sub-menu.
Here's the quirky bit, in the .ini file the [MRU] section is nicely populated (MRU1 through MRU9) with the file name of the last directory opened!
So,
Deleted the .ini
Ran MTF
Opened folder.
Closed MTF
Opened .ini
Confirmed folder appears in ini MRU list -- it does
Closed .ini
Ran MTF
Clicked File/MRU
No sub-menu
??

Clearly it's me if it's working for you.  What have I missed?

I believe that I am right in saying that April 21, 2009 marks the 1,500-day anniversary of DonationCoder.com.

Hearty congratulations to mouser and to the nicest bunch of people it has been my good fortune to encounter on the www!

It would be very helpful if successive runs of MTF could remember the previous folder from which  files were loaded.
have you tried the MRU (under the file menu)

I don't see why you can't spend an extra bus trip or two on working to save me 10 seconds
seems perfectly reasonable to me

Yebbut, while that works (here) with successive runs of MTF without closing it, it does not persist from use to use.
So, close MTF, reopen MTF, MTF MRU AWOL.
MT.png
and
You have a fine grasp of what is important.
3167
try this then...
Very nice. Thanks!
Sorry about the commas, I didn't think of that... it's the way the file arrived here.
I just grabbed a bunch at random for testing purposes and stuck them into a test folder

It would be very helpful if successive runs of MTF could remember the previous folder from which  files were loaded.
At the moment, I run MTF, hit 'Add', and then go down through My Computer - Drive - Dir - SubDir.

I don't see why you can't spend an extra bus trip or two on working to save me 10 seconds  :)

Thanks again!

30 years ago we bought a small Toshiba Fan - still works! ...
recently bought a remote control fan...
My Mum's still going after 81 years....
Those Toshiba and remote jobs are okay but I see that her biggest fan is you.

Might as well take a shower with a raincoat on
The Mac that is PC?
3170
now you can mark threads in a new list to keep track of threads you want to reply to later
Handy, thanks!

as MOBO too 'old' at 4 years
I bought a new monitor a few days ago for a backup machine.
Thought I'd update the video driver.
The two-year-old video card is now 'legacy' equipment with no driver updates.

I guess it's fair enough, the card still does all I'll ever want from it, and more.

Do you recall the days, before computers, when one bought a decent piece of equipment and expected to enjoy it for life?

cranioscopical, while I'm using v9, I don't find any reference to a Web Guard.  Maybe not in the free version?  Or, I'm just too dim to see it
Oh, I don't know if it's in the free version, probably not. From my perspective you're not missing out if it's absent :)
FWIW, 3.0.8 is okay with tinyURL from here.

I'm sure someone will pitch in soon with some help.

3173
Because of .net versions uninstalling mess I needed to reinstall my entire system today. I am not sure if I have any love left for .net. I know what that "." stands for now.
Isn't that stuff a pain!!!!
3174
Even if I could speak or write perfect English, who would know?
Judging from DoCo in general, mainly those for whom English is not their first language.
We native English speakers do have a technique for helping others to understand our tongue -- that is to speak louder.   ;)

[edit: Still too inept to proof read before committing. *sigh*]

I found that if the Avira web guard thing is active that does have a severely negative impact on browsing.
Try turning that off.
(I refer to version 9.)
