Post New Requests Here / Re: VUE; Virtual User Environment
« Last post by jgpaiva on November 02, 2006, 03:03 AM »
Oops.. Now i see the completeness of your idea. You are thinking about using it in computers without admin rights. That's definitelly a problem. I don't think it's possible to change that paths without having admin rights  :( (even though i don't quite know how to change it using a program)

Well... I could go on and on about programs that don't store anything there. For example, none of mouser's apps do, and those are vital for my computer usage. On the other hand, they can be ran directly from the usb drive, since they only store stuff in their own directories (as any decent app should ;) ). Also, the file explorer i use (www.xyplorer.com), also only stores stuff in its own dir.

Still, truth is that if these programs only store stuff in their own folder, i'm gessing they are already portable apps.

I don't know how it can be done, but i think this could actually work. The problem is: what would happen if you tried to change the pointer to somewhere else while some programs are using files from that folder. Most probably, it wouldn't let you change the path.

But, if those programs are closed, possibly this could be done.
Also, please keep in mind that it'll only work for programs that use that place to store settings. (just warning because that's not the case of most the programs i use)

I belive AGP is near its end, it's becoming harder and harder to find hardware that uses it.
Maybe this recent thread can help you, since it's about buying a new computer.

Can't help you with the rest, but i can tell you the answer for the last question:
Yes, you can use windows for 32bit systems on a 64bit system. It runs just as well. (not sure if it takes as much advantage of the processor, though... probably not)

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: application sensitive pop-up notes
« Last post by jgpaiva on November 01, 2006, 04:58 PM »
Ok.. So that you won't think i've forgotten about this thread, I've put up a pre-alfa version of this program. (yes, this version is THAT primitive).
Please take a look, just to collect some ideas on the exact behaviour of this program.

As for configuration, check the first lines.

TitleMatch = GVIM§opera§winamp§
NOTE1 = A note for GVIM
NOTE2 = A note for opera
NOTE3 = A note for winamp
The first line is a '§' separated list of parts of names. If those are found on the title of the current window, the corresponding note will be displayed.

(it's too simple and too hard to use, i'm just wondering if this is what you're looking for)

Skrommel's Software / Re: LabelControl
« Last post by jgpaiva on November 01, 2006, 12:40 PM »
I can't answer all your questions, since it's skrommel's app, but i can help you with some stuff i noticed now that i tried labelcontrol.

LabelControl's settings dialog seems to have been made for enormous screens. This means that on some screens the dialog doesn't completelly appear. So, you have press alt+o to close and save the settings dialog.
Also, the "move mouse" option, when selected, makes the mouse move to the control you activate with the keyboard (using label control).

I don't know about the other question you made, since i don't know much about the way skrommel did this program, but i hope the answer to the other questions will help.

General Software Discussion / Re: question about DoOver
« Last post by jgpaiva on November 01, 2006, 06:35 AM »
In DoOver.ini, there's a key called "macro". The macro that you created is stored there. You can alter it so that you can use it next time.

It's syntax is the following:
{Name of the window where the first command was used}code for the first command#{Name of the window where the secondcommand was used}code for the second command# ETC.

The code for the command is autohotkey code, which you can copy to a script and execute.

General Software Discussion / Re: mouse/key associations
« Last post by jgpaiva on November 01, 2006, 06:23 AM »
I was expecting someone to answer this request, as i think ahk can't be much of an assistence in most of this situations.
You see, it'd need the script to recognize exactly what is under the mouse at that given moment and the stuff you mentioned is quite hard to recognize.
Other than recognizing the active window and control, ahk can't help much. Doing the stuff you asked for would need link identifying, icon identifying and image identifying.
I can't help with this coding snack, but i definitelly hope someone will be able to solve it!!

Living Room / Re: New Ms Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 - Looks Interesting..

It doesn't seem that ergonomical to me. Although it looks like it might be good for the "hand posture", i wouldn't be able to be keeping the right posture all the time.
Also, it looks like it's not to handy to just grab, do a small movement and release again. I also don't exacly love it's size, way too big and high for my tastes.

With all that i mean... Nobody will ever make a mouse better than the one i have right now:

I like the following:

keymap DLS : W+E

It'll map double-tap of left shift to windows + E, which means it'll open windows explorer :D

It's dead simple, just some lines that follow your mouse on the screen. But if you move the mouse around, you get some very nice effects

Record and playback keyboard and mouse actions.

Features:
- User defined hotkeys.
- Recorded macro can be edited throught the Settings menu before playback.
- Change playback speed through the Settings menu.
- Press Ctrl-F12 to start and stop recording.
- Press Ctrl-F5 to start playback.
- Press Esc to abort playback.
- Won't move windows due to relative mouse actions.
-doover features

No, i don't think so. It's aim is for making keyboard and mouse macros by recording them in order and then playing them in order. But it does store the macro into a file.
