Panda Could Antivirus Free is always available for free for personal and non-profit use only. Panda Cloud Antivirus Pro, on the other hands, typically costs $29.99 for one year. However, now everyone can get six months of Panda Cloud Antivirus Pro for free:

download Panda Cloud Antivirus from http://acs.pandasoft...daCloudAntivirus.exe.

After the file downloads, run it and it will begin to download Panda Cloud Antivirus to your computer. After installation has finished (take note during installation: the options to install Panda Toolbar and to set Yahoo as your default search engine are enabled by default - turn these two options off if you don't want them) you should see a popup asking you to active Panda Cloud Antivirus Pro:

Click on "Activate Panda Cloud Antivirus PRO" and once it has finished activating, you can use Panda Cloud Antivirus Pro for free for the next six months!

... Metapad hasn't been updated since year 2002, except for a minor bug-fix in 2005!!! And yet it is said to be working flawlessly on Vista:
http://liquidninja.com/metapad/
Curt - I'm using Metapad under Vista 64 bit with no problems!...

-that was as of June 2009. Since then, the author has revived Metapad:

March 26, 2011   ~   Posted beta 5 which contains a minor refresh to the toolbar. See the change list.

March 12, 2011   ~   Posted beta 4 for Metapad 3.6 which fixes a couple bugs. See the change list.

March 9, 2011   ~   The third beta for Metapad 3.6 adds a simple but powerful new feature. See the change list.

February 26, 2011   ~   A second beta is out for Metapad 3.6. Here's the list of changes.

December 23, 2010   ~   Just in time for the holidays and after many years, I am happy to announce a new version of Metapad: 3.6. It's currently a beta release so there may still be an issue or two. Find out more details on this Metapad 3.6 post on my blog.

http://twitter.com/metapad
-Metapad

Read the full story at his blog: http://liquidninja.c...ouncing-metapad-3-6/

It should be stated that Metapad now supports UTF-8 files
-and even has become GNU Open Source:

There are still two versions of Metapad. I have never tried the LE (Lite Edition), because the Full Version is already so fast, that it doesn't make sense to go for the even faster but feature-less Lite Edition, unless you often have to open extremely large text files:

Q:  What is the difference between Full version and LE?

A:  Technically, the full version utilizes a RichEdit control whereas LE (Light Edition) uses the older but slightly speedier Edit control (as does metapad 1.x). LE may be slightly faster when loading very large files but it does not have the following features:

    Multiple undo/redo
    Show hyperlinks option
    Drag & drop text editing
    Insert/overwrite mode switching
No file size limit on Win9X

Those features are enough for me to strongly recommend the full version over LE. On a modern computer you probably won't notice any speed difference between the two.

"Perfect Software?":
Axialis IconWorkshop Professional ? At least I think it was last updated a year ago...

Why the heck is the normal price listed at Bits du Jour as being $100 ???
edited: http://www.bitsdujou...xialis-iconworkshop/

I trust IconWorkshop will be updated for Win 8, but otherwise; is anything happening?
Or is it really perfect ?

I cannot recognize my experiences with Soluto with any of your sayings.

However, it is late night around here, so I will shut up and go to bed.

-I find it hard to understand why you kept using Startup Delayer at all - there are plenty with similar programs that are working well. My only advice will be to remove version 2 completely, and try out version 3.

After a year's preparations and beta testing:

The final version is out. So far very good experiences, the correct loading order of some apps just fixed some of my issues both on WinXP and Vista. At least I finally had a chance to get rid of Soluto — The Anti-Frustration Software, that used to frustrate me for too long time.

What goes for differences between version 2, 3, and 3 Premium, it may be a good idea to study the six screenshots, or even read what they are telling. If you should get in the adventurous mood, you could click "Find out more..." > "Premium Information", and study the huge "Comparison Table":

-several years later and I still don't know if I have gained anything at all from having Silverlight installed. I have never come across a page (except demo pages) that made me realize Silverlight was in action. Examples, please? Or is Real Life that Silverlight is for coders only?

Edited:
Oh yeah - I meant the Siverlight program, not merely the browser plugin

-I'm sorry I didn't check more thoroughly before posting about PdfTiger, but it is a brand of PdfZilla, so I assumed it was okay. Was PdfTiger ever updated? According to the homepage it is still at version 1.0  and not ready for Win7. Price was allegedly $50, then $40, $30, today $15 - and apparently still too expensive. Affiliates get 75% in commission!

of course today's Bit du Jour offer is also capable of converting from PDF to Word:

PDFTiger http://www.bitsdujou...m/software/pdftiger/
The Ultimate PDF Conversion App

PDFTiger makes it easy to convert text, image (BMP, JPG, TIF, and GIF), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and in fact all printable documents into the PDF format.

But it works in reverse too!

When you need to utilize other formats, you can use PDFTiger to convert PDF files to Word, text, JPG, HTML, and even Flash formats.

Have a library of legacy documentation that you need to convert? With batch conversion capability, PDFTiger can convert 10,000,000 documents at once! That was no typo -- 10 MILLION FILES, CONVERTED IN BATCH!

The interface for PDFTiger is a joy to behold - use one side of the window to create a PDF file, and the other side to convert PDF to other formats.

It's that simple!

I would first quickly see if it is the AntiVirus causing the problems: First check the mails ready at the ISP server, to estimate if they are clean, then close the AV, maybe restart the email client, and then hit send/receive.

Per instinct I would expect these two add-ins from Microsoft Office Marketplace to perform a fine job, but I have never tested them. Edited: I should tell that in the end I expect the two companies to be one and the same.

http://www.google.co...la.html?standalone=1 will give you Chrome without the updater.

Thanks to dotTech: [CC] Trick to get Google Chrome’s standalone installer (instead of using Google Updater) | Community Content | dotTech:

The trick to avoiding Google Updater is to add ?standalone=1 to the URL address. In other words, instead of going to http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html, you should go to http://www.google.co...la.html?standalone=1.

I am getting really tired of Readability. Their advert on a print-to-pdf last-page has grown to the double size, and it takes $5 PER MONTH (!!!) to subscribe but they won't tell in advance if a subscription will remove this huge advert.
