Missed a few lately: 40hz's 11,111th post, and Dormouse's 1,000th post.
And I'm a post out here (but then I like the [xxxx + 1] format)

So where is it?? I tried to access the original thread you mentioned here but I got an error message.

There was a problem with the licensing and it's no longer on dc.
AFAIK that version you're looking for is unofficially available on Cnet.
I think it was not developed after that ...

I may try OneNote as an additional method.  It says Windows 7 and 8. Also free (is that new?).

there's a couple of threads here about that which are worth reading if you're thinking of using the free version

From the Shameless Plug Department: My GF's cousin (Susanne Vick) doing harmony for her good friend and musical collaborator Melissa Mulligan's CD. An almost medievally pure set of harmonizations on O Come, O Come Emmanuel.

wonderful: harmonies, singing, voices :-*

General Software Discussion / Re: Directory Opus 11 Released!
« Last post by tomos on December 16, 2014, 02:14 PM »
Thanks cyberdiva and myarmor for clarifications

Quote from greg in the DO forums earlier today:
Be not afraid! :) While we never comment on release dates nor plans for new major versions, these are traditionally every 2-3 years.
Opus 11 was only released this year so Opus 12 is a long way off yet.
I see he also says:
As some may remember, earlier this year, to avoid confusion, we dropped the 4th numeral in the traditional version scheme so the current versioning is now only X,y,z or more correctly V.S.B - for Version, Sub-version, Beta release. This current version system means that Opus 11 does not finish at 11.9 and may go to 11.666 yet.:)

It would be great to have a 3rd Party App to be able to do more on cropping the image.  How do I get in touch with the member above you mentioned who has written a Crop App?

probably BookCrop:

My first impression is that it is running quite a bit slower (or is a bit more resource hungry), at least concerning the following operation.  In the past, when I'd download a file with Firefox, the downloaded file would show up immediately in the download folder when open in Dopus. With v. 11 however I thought something was wrong because I was looking all over the place in the folder for the latest downloaded file and couldn't find it. It was only after some considerable time that the file eventually showed up.

Has anyone else had that experience?

I havent found DO11 to be more resource hungry (but that's with i5+8GB ram)
I have had some slow-to-refresh scenarios, but not often enough to follow-up on it :-\

Note that DOpus is now at version 11.8
This *seems* to suggest that they might be reducing the time between upgrades (version 11 having been released in March 2014 according to this thread).

EDIT// (in case version 12 is relelased soonish:)
I dont know what their upgrade pricing is when upgrading from an older version (e.g. for 11, version 9 or older; etc.)

There is another, perhaps more common, sign of "illicit" use. Someone turns up on the forum and asks for help. The people over there ask the questioner to "link their account" to the licence number for their installation. (Without that link, your call for help is likely to go unanswered.) The questioner often vanishes, never to be heard from again.
-michaelkenward (December 09, 2014, 04:46 AM)

the 'account linking' seems like quite a good system,
but I dont understand the conclusion that people who dont want this 'linking' are pirates.
Sure, some of them will be pirates --
but have we gotten to the stage where wanting privacy automatically equates to being guilty :tellme:

;D yeah, had that one covered (thanks Ren) and flashblock too.

I'm just after installing QuickJava - "quick enable disable" sounds good - not going to chance restarting though till I'm finished here :-[

I guess they've phased out all the dialup friendly stuff cause everyone has such a good internet connection these days :D

Thanks 4wd
was thinking I could have two Firefox profiles -- one which loads images, one not.

Loading images on demand would be the best solution -- but this is good

General Software Discussion / Tips for dial-up Internet Speeds?
« Last post by tomos on December 01, 2014, 11:44 AM »
I'm looking for any tips for how to cope with dial-up internet speeds :(
(Connection has been bad for a while but took a dive on Friday, was gone completely this afternoon, is at a snails pace this evening.)

Firefox doesnt even seem to have a stop-page-loading buttons any more...

1) I remember someone here talking here (I think not too long ago) about a text based browser i.e. it just showed text  - any ideas there?

2) or something that stopped images from loading -- but allowed you to choose to load an image -- that would probably be ideal.

FWIW, Gmail in the browser often works with the basic html interface, even when no other sites load properly.

TIA :)
