It never failed me (at least, not that i have noticed).
I used paint.net to modify the jpg.

Bad news, tomos... Probably, there's something wrong on your side.
I can make hardlinks of .jpg files, and when i change one of them, the other one is also changed.

Don't forget gridmove, which helps a lot while moving/resizing/organizing windows and also can make windows be on top! ;)

Tomos: Both versions are for windows XP. The 'x86' and 'x64' refer to your processor. If you have a pentium I,II,III or IV, you're interested in the first option (x86).
If you have a 64bit processor (like the amd athlon 64), you should choose the second one.

Most probably, you're looking of the first one, x86 ;)

That looks like a good app, Curt! I've added it to that thread i mentioned, in order to keep track of information ;)

I'm glad you solved your problem with hardlinks... I love them :D

Just keeping this thread updated...
Curt mentioned (in this thread) HardlinkShellExtension which looks like a pretty darn good app for creating hardlinks and such. It's got lots of updates and it's freeware :D

Well...Starting by the end...

I use alax ntfs links, mentioned at the DC thread. It's quite simple to use, basically, it's drag-and-drop.

Now... About soft links and hard links.
[please someone correct me if i'm wrong]
Soft links work for folders. They allow you to have the same folder linked in 2 different places. This means you can have the contentc on "c:\one folder" inside "c:\another folder", and when you change something iniside one of them, you're actually also changing in the other one. There's a small quirk: when you delete the original folder (the one that isn't a link), the link has to be deleted too.
Hard links work for files. These allow you to have 2 links for the same file. This means you can have the exact same file in 2 places at the same time, and when you change one of them, you're also changing the other one. A file will disappear when all it's links are deleted.

These are useful in several situations. I use them mostly for keeping stuff easly accessible in my desktop, while keeping the files and folders in their correct tree organization.

In your situation, you could make soft links for each of the folders in "current user" to "all users" and so, they'd appear on both places at the same time.

Oh... Now i see. That has happened to me :(
I usually unninstall the program right away and remove the directory.. BAH, it isn't worth it!
Then you really only have that solution... A soft link would leave the original file, and create a link for it in another place, and it'd look exactly as if it was in the new place and at the original place at the same time (when you update one, the other one is updated too).
For a better explanation, look at this thread here at DC, or at this page at wikipedia.

Please don't forget to tell us how you succeded with the program tinjaw sugested! ;)

I hate YouTube! Their compression sucks or something because the videos never stream fast enough. I rarely have a problem with other similar video streaming sites like Google Video.

Google needs to kill YouTube. They bought it, now put it to sleep.
[/rant]
;D It's curious, i have the exact oposite problem. I can stream videos from youtube flawlessly, but most of the time, i can't stream videos from google video :(
I guess that must be related to our ISPs having better or worse connection to each of them.

I think that there has been a similar thread here at DC about this.
I can't find it, though. But i believe the conclusions in general were that this is a dangerous process, that usually generates not-so-good results due to obscure registry entries and so.
Still, if you have no other option, the app that tinjaw suggested looks good.

Would you mind telling us why you'd like to move the app?
Because i know another way. If you created a soft link for the folder, it'd work as if the folder was in the place you'd like to move it and in the original place at the same time. This would allow you to have it working in another place. (i didn't exaplain myself very well :()

That requires an amazing amount of creative spirit, and most of all, an amazing amount of time! These guys surelly had to work a lot to make this!
It's very well done, i still can't understand how they did that part where they go one after the other while hovering... amazing :D

It didn't work. What other information could I give you? I don't think I've had a problem with any other AHK scripts. Darn :( I'm really looking forward to using this!
That doesn't make any sense.. :(
Tell me something: the program only freezes when after you click OK on the first box? Can you close the about box before clicking OK?

Maybe it's related to the helper function. To get rid of it, please put the file i attached to this post in gridmove's folder before you start it. (notice that this has my configurations and not the standard ones, you might not like them ;) ).
3089
Also, don't forget that if that worked like that, you wouldn't like to keep the apps open, and you'd end up by always closing it through alt + f4 (because you'd create an habbit out of it). This means that you'd be in the exact same situation you are now.
I think that the only solution would be to have a program that would keep a "log" of the programs opened and closed. But i have no idea on how a program could keep such log.
3090
Is this in any way related to the lambda calculus, basis of the LISP programming language?
If it is... I'm not that sorry they are disappearing.. :P

(just kidding, diverisity is good, and i do appreciate others' work. I just think they should choose a better theme to be working on ;) )

Thanks Carol, looks like i'm severely outdated.

I'm sorry rainmeter isn't available anymore, it was a very good piece of software :(
And i also thought that everest still kept that free version but took it support. Apparently, they don't even host it anymore. It still is possible to download it elsewhere, though.

Some years ago, i used to use rainmeter. It's also very well known, and i think it's not as resource-expensive as samurize. (i don't think it looks as good, though).
For getting the full stats, i suggest everest (which still keeps a free version).

[edit] I shouldn't be this outdated.. Sorry![/edit]

In my opinion, I'm the one who has to thank you, mouser.

Finding DC was the best thing that happened to me in the recent times, it allowed me to know other people with my interests, to see how "the real world" is, understanding how the software world works. And i'm very glad to be a part of DC (recently not as much as i'd like, unfortunatelly) in it's swim against the tide (in what concerns donationware).

It's fantastic to be able to finally relate to an online community, filled with interesting people always willing to help and offer new stuff to the community. And i must say, that's all because of you.
I think that by creating DC and its donation-based goal, you've been able to atract people interested in doing more than just watching the world pass by, and every day we can see an example here in the forum of people helping each other.

Yes, i'm a DCholic, and i owe it to you, mouser, and to this fantastic community which i can't live without anymore!

Well.. I love regex. Seriously, i do. When renaming more than 3 files, i often use regex rename. And i'd love having it system-wide, but... Don't you think this isn't exactly in line with a coding snack? Maybe taking it a bit too far?

The way i've delt with this is using alternative explorers like XYplorer, which feature regex rename, regex delete, regex select, regex find, etc.

I can't seem to get GridMove to work with PuTTY SSH windows. They get moved but not resized. Does anybody else have this problem with PuTTY windows? I'm stuck using Acer GridVista until I can get GridMove to work with PuTTY windows.
I can confirm what you mentioned. GridMove can't move putty windows. I'm sorry, but it appears that there's no way to do this. You see, this must be a problem with the way that putty creates its windows, and makes ahk (the scripting language in which gridmove is coded) unnable to resize them.  It's a weird behaviour, and i can see your problem, when i'm using linux, i always miss GridMove to resize the console windows.

I am not able to get GridMove to work! The first time I run it, the program freezes after I click "OK" on the info box about tooltips. The .ini file is created and so is an empty plugins directory. When I run the script after windows kills it, I get the GridMove tray icon. However it is not clickable and none of the functions of GridMove work. Same thing happens after deleting the newly created files.

I am running the latest version of GridMove on Windows XP. I also have the latest version of AutoHotkey. I'd love to use GridMove if I could!

That's very weird. Never happened to me. Maybe the best thing to do is delete gridmove and it's folder, and try the last release which is available at this post.

I suggest getting any explorer replacement that supports that operation, such as DOpus or XYplorer, both very good explorer replacements that have support for quick preview of the files and recomended by a bunch of people here at DC ;)

I personally use XYplorer, but it think i prefer DOpus. Nevertheless, i think that in terms of preview, xyplorer might be superior.

This man knows what's good! A quote from part3:
You need some additional tools if you want to save video streams. Most providers hide the real url to the stream making it impossible to detect it by normal means. Url Snooper comes into play and detects the real address by analyzing all network traffic.
