Oh, and I really like the way I can manipulate the sidebar on that site ;D (but that's more of a SSC nature :P)

And I'm proud to say one of my applications (Find and Run Robot) made the cut.
Yup, and also skwire's Drop Zone made it there. :)

For a lot of the tools mentioned there are at least 2 equally nice alternatives, but some are indeed real gems that should be in the spotlight every now and then.

Living Room / Re: Strange phone problem - can anyone help?
« Last post by Ath on May 23, 2011, 01:25 PM »
Assuming it's a Dect phone, isn't anything else in the 2.4 GHz band disturbing the signal to that phone? like a wifi router from your ADSL connection, or something like that.
Even if the frequencies are (a bit) different, a strong signal transmitted from close proximity can overwhelm a receiver so much that it can't correctly receive or separate the normal equipment it's designed for. And that would explain why the replacement set has exactly the same issue. That the interference is only when dialing 3's is just an unlucky coincidence, I guess.
Putting either aside for several feet should significantly improve the behavior. (that is assuming you have a wifi router or other transmitting equipment, like a CRT-TV nearby)

It's not only the number of posts (for some users) that's impressive, also the number of registered users.
I shot this (and anonymized a bit) a few minutes ago:

Everything is simply too small. Mobile software is designed for 10-year-old girls' fingers. Not mine.
I do agree, but the high resolution (& quality) screen of my Motorola Milestone (aka Droid) allows me and my big hands to use multicon to get more icons on the screen without problems 8)

xplorer2 has that option, but the 'lynx' navigation it doesn't, AFAICS. It does feature navigating using BackSpace and Enter keys, though, much like Norton Commander and many of it's look a likes.

These would have fitted nicely in the previous request post that brought us eventually Movie-ize, and would have saved 4wd a bit of effort. :o But I'm quite sure he enjoyed creating Movie-ize :D

The Form Letter Machine / Re: The Form Letter Machine and the HTML management
« Last post by Ath on May 21, 2011, 11:04 AM »
I assumed you where creating an application yourself, having this feature request..., as usual any assumption is wrong by default ;D
It's the Desktop App running on Win XP...don't know which language is made with...
In that case: You can't. (Without creating an external 'monitor' tool that detects you/the user opening the combo and pointing at an item, offering a clickable link based on a list you provided earlier)
Hmmm, come to think of it, my WinButtons can detect the executable being loaded, and showing a specific window with buttons, that could open a webbrowser when clicked. But it can't (yet) react on a specific control selected, or hide while it's not selected. Ah, a (double/triple) feature request for WinButtons!  :tellme:

@mouser: You'd probably better move this one to the Coding Snacks/Post New Requests Here board, I'll pick it up asap.

Edit: I finally see it's specific to FLM,  :-[ missed that earlier. But I'm quite sure a combobox can't offer clickable links for each item, next to the normal selection, though a listbox could be made to do that, AFAICS.

The Form Letter Machine / Re: The Form Letter Machine and the HTML management

What environment? (desktop app, mobile, web), what OS?, what programming language?
3036
Though Windows seems to support Unicode environment variables, not all applications support them, and probably wont get that support until they are 'upgraded' to support Unicode from the ground up 8).

Any time I've had to define my own, I sticked with plain ascii characters a-z and 0-9, and sometimes an '_', anything else could turn up problematic in a batch file (where I use environment vars primarily).

If it's for use in your own application, and you want users to set them from the standard Windows configuration screens, I'd stick with things typable on a standard US keyboard, or else the instructions to set them could be awkward, at least.

Any chance of a x mins before fade warning ...
I'd go for the x seconds before fade warning, 15 seconds should be enough to press Ctrl-S once more 8)

Finished Programs / Re: DONE: Open images without program window showing.

Actual batch file in use:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Pilgrim\My Documents\Received Files\Frameless\Frameless.exe"
"C:\Documents and Settings\Pilgrim\My Documents\Received Files\001_screenshot_1.jpg" 100 100

The exe path has spaces, so should be quoted as well. (corrected above)

The story continues, not with high dpi's but a 27" with lots of pixels combined with fine viewing angle and touch capability press release

That would make a huge smartphone  ;D

There's more 300 dpi coming to consumers, obviously, though this press announcement is 'merely' about e-paper, but it's cool, IMHO.

I really like the way it's starting to shape up, but it's still quite buggy, unfortunately.
You did report that to the developers, I presume?

Living Room / Re: Help with new computer build
« Last post by Ath on May 16, 2011, 10:23 AM »
My mantra is always: "Wire if you can. Wifi if you must."

I'd expand that with: "Powerline if all else fails"

Only read about these adapters, and the current generation seems to be doing quite fine, but you really need good quality wiring, and no electric motors (or other distortion sources) running on the same wiring, to have a reliable connection.

For a SVN server solution, the free version of VisualSVN would do nicely if you have a local PC running some kind of Windows NT based OS (XP and up would suffice), and is probably a lot faster too. Not necessarily safer though.

check out the files it produces (in the root of the drive or in dir00001 style directories)
where do I find the files?

Try a chkdsk like operation, and check out the files it produces (in the root of the drive or in dir00001 style directories), sometimes you can find pieces of sourcecode there.
