Yes, the Load Hive and Unload Hive menu elements would be,
...
Don't know why they are greyed out.

You have to select the HKLM top/main key first.
Then this option is enabled.

BTW: If you are asked for an name just chose smtg random like 'XYZ'...
it's only for to add an temporary sub-key to view the loaded hive in
and have no other issue.

If you are finished with your modification use Unload Hive afterwards.

Clearly understood. Now going to the folder X:\Windows\System32\config (IIRC) and see.
If any doubt I will ask

Load Hive must mean "cargar subárbol". I don't have that option eligible

May be "importar" ?

Now I have a light idea what to do. I will investigate what i am doing bad. I have to learn about registry files and IIRC (?)

Use Load Hive, browse to the other OS's registry files (X:\Windows\System32\config (IIRC)) and select the one you want. After it's mounted just browse it as normal.

Load Hive is a soft '

Nice indeed.
The soft from Systernals is from the command line. But useful.
Ther first is payware.
And the third is the most promiseful because have even an option to see a remote windows registry.
In my case, with 6 systems xp on the same pc (  :o  ) I have to see more deep.

Go to the folder in the registry (key)

When we are depuring our system we received help about a key very long and we must navigate in the windows registry to find it and make the modification or observ the value.

I would an utility to go directly to those keys. I have observed in the regedit.exe module from windows xp the possibility of favourites. But I would like something more general.

By example :
able to recognize this "path" or "folder" :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Account Manager\Accounts

Is it possible ?

Just the some folder (open equivalent paths)

As a result of my little trauma with xp some years ago I have many equivalent systems installed in my pc's and over the net.
And many units.

from A to Z I have only 10 letters free aprox.

And I have three pc

At the present moment I want to audit the folder ?:\WINDOWS\system32 everywhere. In all units.
I need a little script for scanning all units searching for that folder in all units.

Is it possible ?
Best Regards

I am under windows xp for the several years, so I would like a more simple thing that Directory Opus.

I cant understand though how someone like you is satisfied with Windows Explorer when there are so many good replacement file managers (including many free ones).

Because some wonderful addons i am very used. i don't want innecesary changes.

I can't believe it. with only a pair of lines of code. Magnificenttttt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you just want a very simple temporary hotkey, you could do something like this in AutoHotkey:

Code: Autohotkey [Select]
  1. F6:: ; Highlight a file in Windows Explorer and press F6 (or change F6 to whatever key you want).
  2. {
  3.     ; This is set for files with a three-letter extension.
  4.     ; Adjust the number in {Left 4} as necessary.
  5.     SendInput, {F2}{End}{Left 4}
  6. }
  7. Return

Option [1] I think is best solution if I can enter the substring in a window after the hotkey, and then enter and voilá

Can you do ?

Shortkey to edit the selected file name in a certain way....

I usually have to rename audios and photos in a certain way....
I need to do individually because the subject is different.

This is my problem :

suppose the name file of the photo is :
DSCF0859.JPG
I need to edit the way quickest with the cursor just at the end of the original name. Add the comment and enter.
DSCF0859.car.JPG

So I need a soft able to do this with a definable shortkey.
If the soft exists I try first here . if don't exist I'll try in the snacks section.

Don't know if this is what you had in mind, (and it probably won't be of much help unless you can find it on some abandonware site), but in about 1989-1990 I used a very nifty program called Buy Your Home (IIRC).  I'm not a programmer, but at the time I recall thinking it was probably just a fairly simple GUI shell for a spreadsheet engine.  (Cost was about $20 US at the time, IIRC.)

It was primarily intended to allow comparing renting vs buying, but was easily adapted to compare buying this house or that house, etc.  It allowed you to enter assumptions about your projected annual income and expenses, income increases, rent amount, home selling price, mortgage amount and payments, interest rate, taxes and deductions (pertaining to buying vs renting), projected appreciation (or not), how long you expected to stay in the place (renting often financially better than buying if only staying a few years), etc., etc.  IIRC, it also must have had some basic tax estimating functionality built in, based on existing U.S. Federal tax regs at the time.

The way it was set up, you could also use it to compare different projected income and/or mortgage amounts for the same home purchase, e.g.:

• projected income if spouse works or not
• paying only the required mortgage payments vs paying more than required each month
• interest only w balloon vs fixed or ARM
• minimal downpayment with higher mortgage vs larger downpayment & lower mortgage
• different loan terms (e.g., 15-year fixed vs 30-year fixed)
• investing more available funds in a more expensive home vs a less expensive home with the difference in funds invested elsewhere
• how much difference it would make over x years to buy down a loan half a point when setting up the mortgage
• etc., etc.

I'm pretty sure I still have the program on a 5.25" floppy (which might have deteriorated beyond use by now) somewhere in my storage unit (hour and a half round trip and a couple hours of searching), and probably on an old HDD somewhere in storage, but my current circumstances don't allow me to go look for it.

I didn't find it online just now in a quick Google search, but if it is no longer being marketed, you might find it on some of the abandonware sites.  if you can't locate it anywhere, you might be able to find or create a spreadsheet template that would allow you to plug in various scenarios along the lines of those I've mentioned or whatever might better fit your circumstances and needs.  Seems like asking in some of the Office/Excel forums might be a good place to find a template that could be readily adapted to your needs. ...(Unless Perry Mowbray above is volunteering to write one :P)

Good luck! :)

I'll try then looking for that soft.
