VistaDB doesn't allow the use of recursive queries
Oh, well, not so great Transact-SQL compatibility then :(

Hm, did some more testing (using SQL 2008 :-[) and indeed your original query works just OK.
So it's probably an anomaly of VistaDB that it won't work there. Maybe my alternative syntax does?

I'm a bit worried about this part: @r = ISNULL(@r+',', '') + gt.description

Doing a lookup of the syntax leads me to this.
I'd be thinking more in the line of
Code: Text [Select]
  1. DECLARE @r VARCHAR(200)
  2.     SELECT @r = CASE WHEN @r is NULL THEN ''
  3.            ELSE  @r + ','
  4.            END,
  5.          @r = @r + gt.description
  6.     FROM GameTags gt JOIN Game2Tag g2g ON
  7.     gt.keygametag = g2g.keygametag
  8.     WHERE g2g.keygame = 1
  9.
  10.     SELECT @r
Tested with 3 records gave: Game 1,Game 2,Third game

Isn't one of those drivers (Acronis or RollbackRX) blocking the hibernate feature of your system?
Since when is hibernate blocked? after you installed/upgraded either of them?

Oh, and an alternative for Boot Snooze could be to turn on your coffee/tea maker after you turn on your system, and make you that cup before you start your work :D

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: Zentimo upgrade offer $9,- until 2011-05-29
« Last post by Ath on May 28, 2011, 05:37 AM »
Hm, 've been thinking a bit about this, and I won't go for the upgrade.

<a bit of a rant>
I just like the way USBSR works, disconnecting my USB drives easily and safely, and I don't need nor want the extra features of Zentimo. It kept nagging me about a speedtest for every USB drive I sticked in my system, but what is it good for? I bought it, so if the speed wasn't good enough (compared to what? my other USB drives?), I'm stuck with it already
And getting at the 'unload drive' option takes clicking on rather a tiny button, and the extra's I never need are hidden behind even more tiny buttons.
</a bit of a rant>

But last years give-away, non-upgradeable, version does work fine over here ;D

your AHk would not start
You should just run the KeyDrive.exe, it will hide in the systemtray. Right-Clicking on that icon, selecting About shows the configured hotkeys.

To completely save state and restore on next power up
Isn't that what's called 'hibernate' in Windows???

In the OP he says he is wary of it...
But that's with his 'previous machine'. As I stated yesterday, that's as good a 'comparison' as oranges vs. pears...

The trouble here is that not all applications can restore to the document/project they had open when you want to close them, but that it is nearly impossible to determine what document/project they have open when you close them (externally). There would be so many different methods to try to determine that, that it's nearly impossible to pack that into a 'nifty little tool'.

You'd better have a good look (again) at the Hibernate feature of your computer, as the 'previous machine' you mentioned earlier is not your current computer, and the wrong point of reference. (IOW: "Any assumption made is wrong by default.")
Windows 7 (or Vista for that matter) does a whole lot better a job at hibernating, then Windows XP ever did. And with decent hardware even XP would do that just fine.

Found Deals and Discounts / Zentimo upgrade offer $9,- until 2011-05-29
« Last post by Ath on May 26, 2011, 06:00 AM »
Crystal Rich sent me this offer today:

Dear USB Safely Remove user,

Only until May 29th we are offering you a unique opportunity to purchase Zentimo
for as little as $9 USD (list price is $29.90 USD)!

Haven't heard of Zentimo, yet? Zentimo is an advanced external drive manager
also developed by our company. Comparing to "USB Safely Remove" it offers more
benefits for active USB and SATA devices users: more informative device menu,
portable device settings, portable apps launcher, TrueCrypt integration and many
other features.

More information about Zentimo & this offer is here:
  http://zentimo.com/usbsroffermay11.htm

Kind regards,
USB Safely Remove & Zentimo development team,

Looks nice IMHO, and might be of interest to others as well.

That's a great idea indeed!
3014
That's easy: Applications.

I've been stalling on getting an e-reader just because it's (nearly) a single-function aparatus, in favor of a decently sized tablet that can run (almost any) other stuff too, besides being an anything-reader. It's most likely not going to be an iPad though 8)

Little Voice Commander / Re: Adding spoken word option
« Last post by Ath on May 25, 2011, 09:08 AM »
This however is a perfect case where recorded human voice is superior,

Ok, I understand the reasoning :D, then you'd have to find a female beside Renegade, to supply those samples, too (and a config option to select them). An extra request might be needed for that voice, I guess :)
3016
Hm, Isn't the 'Favorites' feature of Regedit enough to fit that bill?

You could use the commandline tool reg.exe, that's available from Windows XP and up. A nice description is here, and create a simple batchfile doing what you need.

I dont think the text-to-speech is good enough,

I'd surely have a good look at Windows supplied TTS (if I had a project for that). Current TTS for Windows is quite impressive, IMHO, and it's quite easy to select another voice, or switch from male to female, etc.
3018
But the multi-monitor option is still being worked on (as it currently only fades my main monitor...)?

Where did you copy it from? Another Word document, or plain text?

Could you reset the attributes to the default (select + Ctrl-Space) that usually works if I have issues like these, or paste it as plain text (using Notepad++ as an intermediate, but there are several tools discussed here, that I don't want to install on my work-PC, that can do that for you).
3020
That's nice
3021
Also, Apathy's QuickCliq made it as well.
I missed that one, sorry :-[

Oh, and I really like the way I can manipulate the sidebar on that site ;D (but that's more of a SSC nature :P)

And I'm proud to say one of my applications (Find and Run Robot) made the cut.
Yup, and also skwire's Drop Zone made it there. :)

For a lot of the tools mentioned there are at least 2 equally nice alternatives, but some are indeed real gems that should be in the spotlight every now and then.

Living Room / Re: Strange phone problem - can anyone help?
« Last post by Ath on May 23, 2011, 01:25 PM »
Assuming it's a Dect phone, isn't anything else in the 2.4 GHz band disturbing the signal to that phone? like a wifi router from your ADSL connection, or something like that.
Even if the frequencies are (a bit) different, a strong signal transmitted from close proximity can overwhelm a receiver so much that it can't correctly receive or separate the normal equipment it's designed for. And that would explain why the replacement set has exactly the same issue. That the interference is only when dialing 3's is just an unlucky coincidence, I guess.
Putting either aside for several feet should significantly improve the behavior. (that is assuming you have a wifi router or other transmitting equipment, like a CRT-TV nearby)
