^ I have read (no links sorry) the there were multiple varieties of dandelion imported to the Americas by the original European immigrants. Also that multiple varieties were sold via e.g. Sear's catalogue. For human consumption ;-) At the local market here, one stall has started selling a cultivated version. It's very bitter - as one would expect - but the 'stems', (which are much more substantial than in the wild version), they're quite sweetish.

Bitter foods used to be eaten a lot. Today you dont get so much but there's still radicchio and chicory; in Germany you get Zuckerhut in winter (cant find a translation) - but it's not that common. I've gotten into the bitter taste in the last few years. Also drink common centaury (Tausendgüldenkraut) tea - bitter, and very good for the digestion  I tried wormwood tea but couldnt manage it, bitter is an understatement there ...

PDFs give an error message when SC tries to read them.
Would it be a good idea to save/export PDFs to a different folder mouser? Maybe a sub-folder just for PDFs?

(FWIW I only ever use the button on the scan toolbar to convert an image to PDF, so may be unfamiliar with other aspects of PDFs in SC.)

Panasonic Lumix CM1 First Impressions Review

cant see this doing that well - high-end point & shoot's have been getting very fancy of late (with prices heading towards the 1000$ mark).
They have zoom (usually not that much, but still a big factor) - but then I guess this has a phone....

Really great to compare screens with different sizes and aspect ratios.

this is really nice

Bin using "Windows 7 Application Launcher" for a while now. You can create different profiles for various task catergories. Comes portable too.

any more info about that? (couldn't find it - "Windows 7 Application Launcher" is a very generic name...)

Just after seeing an older film by Danish director Suzanne Bier.
After the Wedding (2006)
I saw it without knowing anything about the story beforehand, and think even the short summary on IMDB is TMI.
Critical of some aspects, but I think it's a very good film.

I've seen a few of her films now over the years: they're always thought provoking - without getting stuck in the intellectual; you usually dont have a clue how they're going to work out, and often emotionally intense. This one had a similar general topic to a couple others I've seen - man comes back from time in a third world country - doctor (In a Better World), army (Brothers), ngo (this one just seen) and while struggling with that culture shock, gets involved in / confronted with [insert story here :p]
(Both those other linked films highly recommended as well.)

FWIW I see she's made a film in English lately, Serena, which doesnt get good reviews...

Firefox lately has been annoying wrto flash video playback.  [...]  I felt like in 2014, flash videos were causing slowness/freezes/crashing in firefox all the time, like multiple times a day.
same here.
Firefox and Adobe Flash Player relationship seems to be a recurring problem.

do you have 'use hardware acceleration when available' checked in 'options', 'general'?
I usually have to uncheck this to clean up scrolling in FF.

Yes, thanks  Now unchecked, will see if helps
it's in Options>Advanced>General - in case anyone else cant find it :-)

Just trying it again:
what also sometimes doesnt work (win 8.1) is using the arrow keys to scroll - but this is not consistently reproducible: it's like it's just being contrary at times.

Will have to pay more attention to how it's working when I get back to the desktop.

Okay, I've experienced this on my laptop (win 8.1) - but didnt know if it was related to a crappy touchpad, or dodgy on-board graphics or FF itself :-)
I think it's okay on my win 7 desktop - but have had lots of troubles with flash/video there (tbh I havent been keeping track, maybe I was having problems with flash/video with win 8 too).

PaleMoon seems to be behaving of late, but it has also broken session manager lately :(

@40, this does not seems to me to be about sides. If the scientists were working with vaccines, they are presumably pro-vaccine. As Ren says, this is whistle blowing.

And let's face it, who can be genuinely surprised about *any* corporation fixing the books where they are given the chance to do so? That's what is most disturbing - that they are given that chance:
it sounds like the company is testing the efficacy of its own product for the FDA. And that the product got approval based on those tests. And if the reports are correct, that the test guidelines were not adhered to, and that the FDA didnt check that - in spite of irregularities being reported.

[this not directed at any of the posts above] The danger of taking 'sides' re vaccines, is that one can get defensive and lose objectivity. Which can contribute to allowing stuff like this to happen. (FWIW I'm broadly pro-vaccine myself, but dubious about the methods used to force it on the populace, and dubious about relations between the FDA and the corporations developing the vaccines.)

^ I've done images for two different programmes for a while (well one is via the Windows OS) - mainly because I havent tested either and would simply hope that at least one would work if a restore had to be made.
(FWIW I'm more careful with data backup - but that's easier to restore...)

I really love and laugh a lot when I watch Count Basie.  So extremely minimal and subtle.  An eyebrow raise here and there, a look, perhaps a small gesture.  lol.
here's a video of Jimmy Forrest blowing his brains out on Night Train.  Basie approves...you can tell with his emphatic nodding @1:32 (emphatic for basie, that is, hardly noticeable to normal people).
:-*

@Vurbal, I really enjoyed Haim - Jools Holland says they were the big thing of 2013, but I've only come across them now. Been listening to some more - would really love to see them live...

all round: it's great to have a more in depth music thread

Sorry.
there is nothing to apologise for Contro :)

My brother never needed this kind of software.  He figured out what he wanted, then bought it for my father as a Christmas gift.  I remember one year he gave dad an electric razor.  I think dad used it once.  My brother used it the other 364 days of the year.

yeah, I keep finding things I want for me, when looking to buy presents ...

^good points. FWIW I'm not a fan of the whole rights approach to the world.

When you start assigning guaranteed rights to people, people almost always find usage cases that the majority will not ever agree is acceptable and will seek to do something about even if it means that the expected rights are no longer inalienable.

with ^that^ in mind, I shortened this bit:

Its illegal because it violates somebody else [...]

I tried it, but quality is a bit disappointing  :(

in my experience, that's generally the case when taking stills from video - unless it's very high resolution footage and there's not much motion in the scene.
I would suspect that SC is not to blame, as it records exactly what is on the screen.

yeps, only manually as it's says it can't check things automatically, I just need to make sure I scroll the same size everytime, or the final image will be off :/

Thanks!

in theory it will recognise the overlap between each image and the next - so it doesnt have to be exactly the same, so long as there *is* an overlap - but you'll just have to try it and see how it goes (let us know how you get on!)

hi janvg
there is an autocapture option - I dont see any way of making a hotkey for it though - only seems accessible via the tray context menu (?)

Screenshot - 2015-01-29 , 10_55_35.png

Edit // I dont use it myself - it looks like you toggle it on/off and it will then work automatically when you press any of the capture hotkeys.
Try it out :-)

i shall try to fix that.
that sorts any privacy worries anyway

the full bitmap object you paste can only be found in the extra .objects file anyway; if you shared the png file it would only contain what you can see in the png.

okay, thanks mouser
