With a long password (as it was always recommended) even a 100 folds increase doesn't make much of a difference.

The intro scene from Another World is pretty actual: YouTube
What a beautyful game, and it was about the 1990.

I have bough the new PC version in high-res the moment I discovered it! :)

As for some stats... on my sites I get from 2% to 5% page views from Chrome.
That make it the 3rd browser, more traffic than from Opera & Safari.

Mouser, maybe you share some browser stats for DonationCoder?

Compared to complex and still not much effective current auto-parking, a simple an low tech 5th small wheel on an idraulic piston really make a difference:

General Software Discussion / Re: Google Chrome -- key reasons for its debut
« Last post by Mark0 on September 04, 2008, 05:47 AM »
A negative take on Chrome from OSNews.  Not saying i agree with all of it, but i think it's worth sharing:

Indeed, near all the comments agree that's one of the worst article OS news has ever published: highly biased, inaccurate, presenting personal conjecture as facts, etc.
Maybe is a sign of the MS damage control team/army in action?  ;)

I think that they know that someone eventually will be able to sniff all the traffic Chrome make, interpret / decrypt it, and blog out for all the Digg / Reddit population to see, if there's something even remotely strange! :)

This is all I found:

Matt Cutts: Preventing paranoia: when does Google Chrome talk to Google.com?

For better or worse, my blog is popular with the Google conspiracy-theorist demographic. I knew that as soon as Google Chrome launched, some readers would ask tough questions about privacy and how/when Google Chrome communicates with google.com.

So I decided to tackle this issue head-on. I talked to the Chrome team to find out if there’s anything to worry about. The short answer is no. For the long answer, read on.

Parts of the EULA were simply lifted from other services - were supposedly they made some sense.
It's now corrected:

Cool! Thanks for this tool's suggestion!

One thing I noted is how fast all this Google browser happened.
Until a couple of days ago, I haven't heard any serious rumors or hint about such kind of release.
Then... BOOM! I think it come as a real surprise for many.
319
For systems of such complexity, it can be also seen as being realistic! :)
But yes, I understand your point, of course, even if I disagree.
320
Hopefully Chrome will be developed and strengthened quickly, not stay in beta forever like GMail or Google Documents!
That's just a philosophy thing: Gmail for example may still be marked as a beta, but it's actively developed and  works pretty well, doesn't it?
321
Java works pretty well with Chrome, but you need the last Java 6 rc10.

Just download, install, and then it will work.

On another note, JavaScript performances are great!

Exactly! Here's a screenshot that show it (above, WordPad Preview; below, the print to PDF document).

tt-diff.png

Using styles like bold & italic on small fonts makes can lead to even more interesting results.
IIRC there was some posts about differents font rendering philosophies between Win & OS X even here's at DonationCoder. Basically, Win trade on screen quality, pixel-perfect rendering for strict typographic correctness. Or something like that! :)

324
Years ago the complaint was levelled that Windows was not truly WYSIWYG for publishing - but that complaint really died with the introduction of TrueType Fonts.

That's not always true. There are some quirks in the Win way of rendering fonts between low & hi DPI devices (basically due to certain choices done regarding hinting).
Here's a simple test:

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Cut & paste the above in WordPad. Using Arial (Western) 10, the right margin will be just about "in line".
Do a preview and it still show up just right.

Now print it (even with a PDF virtual printer), and see the difference!
Clearly this represent an extremisation, but on a complex / real document, that may lead to some pretty interesting effects in some circumstances! :)

Bye!

None less than Michelangelo is said to have done something like that quite often - ending encounters by walking away mid-conversation. So it may be a trait of the genius!  :D
