Suspension and windows 7.
For me is new.
 
But come with prior systems.
I usually don turn off my pc's because of the security copies all day and night long.
But...

I would like to save some dollars in the light invoice.....

So...

Yesterday I observed my pc with the ventilators off. Suspended. Perfect.

But I would like a soft for :

1. Turn on my pc when a security copy is necessary or programmed. When an action is programmed.

2. Mantain suspension if during the last security copy the pc was not used...

3. Automation with the suspended mode in general.

Periodic revision of residents.

By one cause or others I have many residents at the same time.
I am trying windows 7 and happen the same as with windows xp pro.
So I will buy more RAM, but ....

I would like a soft to control automatically the processes are running and check if is stopped or not.
If stoppen launch that process again.

By example.
suppose I must have running :
middlebutton.ahk
ditto.exe
ReOpen.exe
FileBX.exe
FindAndFunRobot.exe
ATNotes.exe
PowerTray.exe
CreateShortCutsIn.exe
etc.

How can I do a script for checking this from time to time....

Even, is possible, checking windows services.

ReRun 2.4.0.0 Added code to get the program path and icon of a 64 bit process when running on a Windows 64 bit OS.  I haven't looked into getting the command line args yet. It may not be worth the performance hit as most of the time the target app will be launched without args.

But at least now it works reasonably well under Wow64.

Run the exe. It will offer you some rectangle combinations like templates, either use them or ignore them and create your own places.

If you choose one of the templates you can copy and paste files and folders into the places.

If you want to create your own places, right click the tray icon and choose 'Places settings'. Use the + sign and browse to the file or folder you want.

(Folders with lots sub folders and files will take a while to appear and explorer.exe may even crash)

The rectangles are crystal type ? I refer is are invisible or not because of the background wallpaper.

Well, Fences itself has been spun off for Windows 7.

IIRC, the free version's main limitation is that it can't sort new icons automatically, and there is a paid version that remedies that.

This is from the help file about Cyclic Rebooting.  You would need to set up the Auto-Login section and enable it, then set up a shortcut in your Startup folder to the program, making sure to include the -Reboot option.  Then set the number of reboots you want on the screen and click Reboot Now to start...


"This page gives a brief description of how a PC can be set-up to reboot itself in a cycle.

Step1 – Select and save Rebooter settings
Start Rebooter and use the “Clear” button to return the reboot count to 0.
Set the ‘Maximum Reboots’ value to the number of cycles required.  <--- MY NOTE: how many times you want to reboot
Set the other parameters in Rebooter. (Reboot type, Delay, etc). Don’t set the delay value to be too short, as you want Windows to fully boot before starting the next cycle. 20 Seconds is a good value.   <--- MY NOTE: you may want it to be longer than 20 seconds!
Save the settings, with the ‘Save Options’ button.

Step2 – Create an autorun shortcut
Create an autorun short cut that points back to Rebooter executable. See the auto-run page for help on how to do this. The shortcut must use the  ‘-Reboot’ command line parameter.

Step3 – Start the cycle
Click on the “Reboot Now” button to start the cycle.

Each time Rebooter is started with the ‘–Reboot’ command line parameter, the reboot counter in incremented. Once the reboot counter becomes equal to the Maximum Reboots value no further cycles will be executed and the reboot counter will be reset to zero (ready for the next run).

This perhaps was the important question I suggest at the beginning and now I have the opportunity to try modifying the boot.ini and reboots. Because logically this soft goes through the existing boot.ini.
With more or less effort, thank to your effort of course, I am beginning to get the target.

There are lots of programs to do pieces of the things you want, but nothing I know of that puts them all together.

* Scheduled reboots by Poweroff
* Multiple reboots by Rebooter
* Boot into safe mode by BootSafe

Poweroff at least has a very good command line so you could script most of its actions as desired.

I am trying to understand Passmark rebooter. Seems very interesting, but I don't understand the 15 secs.

My system last a little more to load, or even in closing.

How can I cycle ?

I have tried and see the lines of my boot.ini are editable. So perhaps if I will remember how to put the modifier to begin in safe mode.

BootSafe don't go in my systems.
I think is because is not prepared to manage boot.ini with multiple systems.

Attached is my mod of TLPD.  It accepts length in the range 4 to 32767 chars. At the end, a text file pops up with a report. I just modified the original to use UNC notation so that it could search for longer paths. Also changed the InputBox a bit.  The AutoIt3 source is included.

edit: Please refer all questions about the operation of the program, such as InjectEnvVars() to the original author on SourceForge.  All I did was modify the check() and InputBox routines to accept longer paths. For best results I suggest running my mod with no command line args.  Just enter all info using the dialog boxes. I don't think I tested it using the environment variable injection stuff.

I have this problem less or more often when decompressed folders sets in an own folder. Sometimes exceeded 255 chrs.

Really I use syncback to sync folders between my pc's and usually shorten, but I would a solution before I have that problem.....
