General Software Discussion / Re: Screen Calculator: Monitor, Mobile & Notebook PPI and Screen Size Spreadsheet
« Last post by tomos on March 03, 2015, 09:03 AM »^ah okay, thanks Brahman. (I just saw the dollar sign and thought 'USA')
I always wish the screen would be bigger to reduce eye strain and therefore I am now eyeing an 11.6 inch Onda Vii6W dual boot (Android/Win8.1) tablet with keyboard.-brahman (March 02, 2015, 10:37 PM)

Thanks Tom but I'm still confused. I tried hitting print scrn and a small version of Screenshot captor came up showing the full screen underneath it. There was a small "target" in view but I could not do anything with it nor any ability to select a specific region (like the dragging the mouse thing.) If I just double click on the icon in my tray, I get a full version of Screen shot but now way to view the image beneath it. Sorry to be so dense but I really appreciate your help.

Dear Mouser. Thanks a bunch.-hopken44 (March 01, 2015, 11:45 AM)
Do note that while you can turn on Calculate folder sizes, it'll only do it for the parent, any sub-folders don't get calculated and aren't added to the running total in the Status bar, (as you can see from the bits I've highlighted - a folder with ~36MB of files but only ~10MB in the running total).
I don't know if there is a setting that will propagate the folder selection to included files, this would fix the total size selected discrepancy.-4wd (February 28, 2015, 10:49 PM)

Now that it has been discovered, I should think antivirus software could be written to at least detect it in action, followed by some kind of 'fix', possibly involving a redesigning of the HD firmware?-bit (February 25, 2015, 06:59 PM)
Because the OS normally doesn't provide low level access to drive hardware to even an administrative user.
It's not just that -- if the malware tampers with the HARD DRIVE FIRMWARE, it can essentially make the hard drive return fake data, etc. Even with the lowest level access to the hard drive, the hard drive firmware can hide any changes. The only way to fix would be to reflash the hard drive firmware -- and it may very well be that the firmware changes make reflashing impossible via software.-mouser (February 18, 2015, 03:10 PM)
There is no defense against this.
Its like a rootkit- that once it gets into your hard drive the only way out is to replace the drive controller with a known-good version and then very carefully salvage data without letting the virus be reactivated.-SeraphimLabs (February 18, 2015, 03:33 PM)
Any PIM that supports the Franklin Planner methodology of prioritization would support what Tomos was suggesting.-wraith808 (February 22, 2015, 09:51 PM)
Can you suggest the best one of them free ?
