i'm going to go and sulk for a bit then plot my revenge - with or without help from the cody clan.

anyway, it looked like it could have been a cool game from the load screen. i had to turn my volume down after hearing the audio track for about the tenth time.

(and again, you swine.)

 :o

well, that's the last time i load in one of these recommended flash games. i don't really go in for them so i tend to ignore the frequent postings but thought as this was a mouser project i'd take a peak.

all i can say is, i'm going to tell Cody all about this and i'll make sure he gets you back one way or another - yes, i know how to bribe him, so you better watch out.

(you can put me down in your sucker list, you swine.)

going to watch 'deadwood'. hopefully it will have loaded it by the time the episode finishes.

does the game emulate a 56k modem for downloading the files (joking).

Site/Forum Features / Re: One of our posts is missing
« Last post by nudone on August 07, 2006, 09:53 AM »
the times i thought things had been deleted because i couldn't find them using the search feature were always found if i went through my actual post list - very time consuming i must say.

the overall conclusion (for me) is that the search function doesn't appear to be perfect. the posts are there (at least the ones i was looking for) but the search couldn't locate them.

also, i did use search keywords that were definitely in the post i was looking for.

i agree with Josh. if things were so bad then no one would be using internet explorer or any of the mods. i'm not saying there aren't naughty things that get through - it's just unlikely or unlucky - i'm probably more likely to get knocked over by a bus when crossing the road but i'm not worrying about it (yes, i pay attention to oncoming vehicles when i need to - and i try to pay attention to dodgy looking websites).

maybe my machine is infected right now. always appears clean on the scans i do.

General Software Discussion / Re: Mpui - Media Player Similar To VlC
« Last post by nudone on August 06, 2006, 11:03 AM »
i've tried the mplayer/mpui combination and i found it a little unstable. a few files would make it lock up completely, so i gave up with it - i've no doubt that other users will have no trouble with it at all - just depends on what you push through it.

Well, if the customer ordered 50 disks and only got 48 good ones + the shieldings...

ha, ha, fair point.

that's the joke isn't it - they are there to sheild the disks, would anyone really think they are defect disks? or are we saying this letter is genuine - oh well, i guess it could be.

thanks for letting me know about the time, javajones.

i think i'll just forget about it now then and wait for the official release. i'm plenty happy with the current version - once you've moved the interface around a bit.

let's not forget mouser's 'temporalityscreens'. more info below...

https://www.donation...ndex.php?topic=210.0

go to the this link and scroll to the bottom of the page to download it: https://www.donation...dingSnacks/index.php

the main purpose of the program is to change the wallpaper at a user 'specific' time, i.e. 9.03am on the 2nd of november 2007, and not to simply change images a timed intervals, i.e. every 30 minutes. this is what sets it appart from the majority of other wallpaper managers.

edit: forgot to mention that jibz was also involved in the creation of 'temporalityscreens'.

which reminds me - i promised i was going to make a wallpaper set for this little program. which was over a year ago now. i shall put it back onto my 'current' list of things to do.

oh, and thanks once again for making it guys.

thanks for the info, masu.

er, might be a dumb question, but do i need the new internet explorer 7 to be able to run the new maxthon - they look very similar.

i love maxthon but i'll keep away from trying the new version just yet if it means installing the new ie7.

now off to fill in the survey...

i was going to make the suggestion that it would be a nice idea to have a way of restricting what programs could be run on the computer. i decided against it as i think i would just fight against such a program after i'd been using it a few days/hours.

i may give 'temptation blocker' a try, so i'll thank you for mentioning it, Jimdoria. but, i think, these sort of 'negative' methods of working aren't really the right way of going about it - if it's something that is restrictive then i think it's doomed to fail in the long run.

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Control Freak - living in the game
« Last post by nudone on August 04, 2006, 02:30 AM »
i'm wondering if there ought to be a 'risk' factor involved in the game.

something like, you declare the tasks you wish to complete for the oncoming week but if you only wish to do one task then the possibility that you'll start/complete it is quite high. whereas, if you wish to complete a great number of tasks, then there is a greater chance that you will fail some of them.

more points could be awarded for completing a larger task list than a smaller one. or, returning to what javajones was describing, there needs to be more emphasis on the work involved.

how about a projected task is given a value or weight by the player. they decide how likely or unlikely they are to complete a particular task - just based on their personal experience of their past behaviour. this avoids trying to compare different types of work, like painting the shed or writing an essay, and concentrates on the 'will' required to overcome our lazy ass attitude.

(i realise i'm flitting back and forth about how the rules should be simple or complex. perhaps the project is doomed to never start as there just isn't a satisfactory point awarding scheme.)

Living Room / Re: National Novel Writing Month (nanowrimo)
« Last post by nudone on August 03, 2006, 03:50 PM »
how about doing a donationcoder.com related novel - a combined effort from as many authors as would care to post a few hundred words.

this probably isn't really in the spirit of the project. just thought it might be worth suggesting to 'kick start' a few people into having a go - and hopefully go onto writing solo.

great. i'm glad to hear it.

we shall have to set a start day/time - how about this coming sunday or monday.

hopefully there will be more game testers announced by then.

thank you for the offer, app.

if you feel it is something that is worthy of your time then it will be appreciated. i would wait until we have a bit more interest in the project before committing yourself to coding for it as it's all a bit up in the air as to what will be required.

perhaps i need to state a set of rules and see if the 'players' so far announced will be happy to start the game.

a trial run might be the way to sort it all out - then we can all offer suggestions as to what needs to be done or changed.

is anyone up for a test game?
