General Software Discussion / Re: Help me pick the right name for my software

Please take a minute to reflect on your other programs' names: Photos, Icon Editor, and Cursor Editor. I know that Photos was not named Photo Editor (like any other photo editor), but the new baby/program should not be named too differently from the brothers; they are family. Photos... Paints?

I sure hope this anti-FP action will go well.

However, already been told that the thread will move to another domain, I am not inclined to register at Bitsum's, in order to upload a post or two. I think more people than me may have had a similar thought.

... before I actually install and use it I would want to take the time to learn what it really offers in the way of "document management".
WaggleImage is primarily for managing scanned documents and imported PDF's. While it does support other document types, that's not really it's primary function. It won't do what you need above.

WaggleDMS is a completely different beast. It is used for managing all types of documents. Word, PDF, Excel, etc. The document type does not matter. It helps that WaggleImage integrates into WaggleDMS as you can then scan documents and manage them directly in the DMS. It is presently in a closed beta and because it integrates into the OS shell, I would hate to give a release date.

you were not told about 3.0 because emails about updates  are an exception, until the automatic updater has been re-fixed.

Version 3 was launched 16 December 2010,

The new version is 3.02

OCR is new. Quite a big thing to add to a minor update, I think.

For Vista you can use Folderbg from http://www.aveapps.com/folderbg.html :
REQUIREMENTS:
 + Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Runtime Files: http://www.microsoft...7&displaylang=en
-Folderbg

It is working!

At least for now.

It may be hard to see the difference because I am using an extremely lite green, but it is easy to see difference on the characters. I now recognize that I have been missing this - I used the feature on my previous computers.

« Last post by Curt on September 19, 2011, 01:41 AM »
I have a key for his various versions, Classic, Tidy, XP, Vista/Seven, but am not using any of them. True Launch Bar is taking care of my daily "Start > all programs" needs, and I also wanted to use as little CPU & Memory as possible, so I stick to Vista's standard. I go there maybe once a day.

General Software Discussion / Start Menu X now in beta
« Last post by Curt on September 18, 2011, 01:25 PM »
Dennis Nazarenko always has had some problems with choosing just the right name for his fine start menu programs. XP Start Menu, Vista Start Menu, etcetera - how do I recommend a program named "Vista...", to Win 7 users? Now he may (or may not, time will show) have a better name for his newest program (still in beta):  Start Menu X. I am not sure yet this will be the final name.

For beta testers only: http://startmenux.idea.informer.com/

Dear Users, I am happy to present a Beta version of the program, which has been rewritten from scratch and features many advantages and good upgrade potential. Therefore it will be easier for me to fulfill your requests.

What´s new:
- A new graphic engine will help to easily edit skins
- Renewed mechanisms of working with files
- 64 bit support
- etc.
FINAL RELEASE is due in the end of November; meanwhile I would like to present the Beta version:
http://www.startmenu...X_Setup_4_0_beta.exe

Caution!!! The Beta version features a skin, designed for Windows with Aero. It may not look good on other platforms.

Note for participants of beta-testing :

1.  This Beta version does not have all functionality of the previous version. There are two reasons for it.
Firstly, I was concerned about quality and it took more time than I had planned.
Secondly, some of the previous version´s features had never been used so I decided to not waste time developing them.

2.  Please help me to identify features with higher priority.
To do it, install the program and start using it. Then add your requests regarding desired features or vote for the existing ones on the following page:
http://startmenux.idea.informer.com/

3.  If you come across errors, please add them on the above page or email them to me.

Thank you for your support and feedback. I will do my best to make sure you are happy.

Best regards, Dennis Nazarenko

@hulkbuster; your last remark may not go well with quite a number of DC members... they think DOpus is The Best.

The auto-starting file's job is to launch DO via your "dblclick" on the desktop. Before removing it from start, make sure DOpus is not the default handler of anything! The file's consumption is as low as 7.74MB - no reason to exit it. If you insist removing it from start, any startup manager can do this.

MS Word over WordPerfect in ANY release

In the early nineties my girlfriend at the time was teaching colleagues how to use WordPerfect. When they complained, because they were used to Word, she would insult them and say, "Word is fine for beginners, but WordPerfect is the much better choice  if you care to learn how to use it!"

I was using Word. We are not together any more...

Of course I should have taken the time to make the irony a little more obvious. But here in Denmark it is election day, so I was in a hurry to go and vote, when I typed the post.

tomos is right; I was trying to keep an ironic distance to the offer.

General Software Discussion / poor upgrade offer on WebSite X5 v. 9
« Last post by Curt on September 15, 2011, 09:28 AM »
If you registered your copy of WebSite X5 Evolution 8 after 06/07/2011, you will receive a free copy of the new Evolution 9 version.

a2011-09-15_161412.gif

-this sounds okay, maybe. But what about this next one:

Upgrade with 50% DISCOUNT

If you registered your copy of WebSite X5 Evolution 8 between 30/06/2011 and 05/07/2011, you will save 50% on your WebSite X5 Evolution 9 upgrade.

b2011-09-15_161440.gif
-X5 9

One would think it was a typo, that it really should spell "30/06/2010", but "2011" seems to be what they mean, because this is the second time I receive this offer. If your X5 version 8 is more than 2½ months old there is no upgrade rebate!!!

Approx year 2009 I upgraded to version Evolution 8. I cannot remember what price I paid. But this time I will most certainly not upgrade!
