Then could you please install AutoIt3 from here (during install, select to execute the .au3 file by default, not to edit it) and run from the .au3 file (you could rename the .exe to something else), the proposed commandline would be like:
 "Excel2Html.au3 -f testaddresses.xlsx -t Excel2Html-all-template.html -o test.html"
and report the actual errormessage the script errors out with, as the line-number from the compiled .exe is not anywhere near correct or realistic.

Might be a 'Trust' issue.
Excel is supposed to open the file, and E2H then accesses the Excel objectmodel in memory to select all data, copies that to the Windows Clipboard and processes it from there to merge it using the template. If E2H isn't allowed to access the in-memory Excel instance, then the errormessage you showed is one of several that could occur.
You might need to configure Excel to allow access to the VBA Object Model in the Excel Trust center (Office button, Options button, Trust center, Settings for Trust center, Macro settings, enable checkbox: 'Allow access... VBA ...' (translated from localized Office)).

Maybe this should have been in the readme file, but I kinda forgot I had this enabled before I started this little project :-[

the user chooses to download and run it, the updated installer automatically uninstalls the older version silently,

That is normally not needed. Nearly nothing needs an uninstall before an update. You know where you are coming from, application-wise, and where you are going to, so just updating the files that are new should be enough.
That the standard Visual Studio setup project does that, doesn't mean it useful for anything, it's just pure laziness of the MS guys, and meant as an opportunity to sell you a 'real' installer builder like Wise or Installshield. But as you already found out, Inno Setup can do what you need most of the time, easier and with a smaller footprint :) (And yes, I'm an Inno Setup fan, though I also work with Installshield stuff)

3D printing is a real technology already, one of the shops that can produce the objects for you is Shapeways, but you can build your own 3D printer, if you like, for around US$500 - US$1000. The guys at MakerBot (there are more supplies around) have complete kits where you mostly add time and a creativity, and get tips from the user support forums.
This Wikipedia articlew has a good explanation and references

Pardon the plug, but I'd like to suggest using WinButtons, originally developed for use with a touch-screen  :)

Living Room / Re: 64 Bit OS - When to Switch ?
« Last post by Ath on July 08, 2011, 04:42 AM »
I'd say the time to switch was about 5 years ago when WinXP x64 came :D That's when I switched.
That release was in the same league as the Win32 subsystem on Windows 3.11: Total crap, with near to none support from applications or drivers.
It's sister-release Windows Server 2003 x64 edition was a little better (read: less worst) as there was actual hardware-driver support from the larger (server) vendors, but generic consumer-stuff was, as to be expected, a total disaster.

Starting with Vista x64/Server 2008 x64 this has dramatically changed, even though the first year after it's release there where a lot of issues with hardware-drivers, but ever since then it only has become a lot better. Windows 7/Server 2008 R2 is near default in x64 release on new hardware, even with the local discounters, IMHO meaning Windows x64 is ready for prime-time.

Don't know, and have never seen, the issues vlastimil is talking about, but AFAIK that's a configurable item, but deeply hidden in the registry (don't have a link to MSDN available where I am now), and it's not stopping me from pushing everybody to x64 where possible. If Microsoft wants to go there it's most likely the (unavoidable) future :-\

+1 for returning the machine, agree with all above. If it's bad, it's going to stay bad (and probably get worst) and not 'grow better over time'.

OT:
It's a HP ZR30W S-IPS
Ah, I got 2 ZR24W S-IPS screens (the smaller brother of the ZR30W) with my new system (connected through display-port (DP)) this week, and I'm just as enthusiastic about it as you are :D, coming from 19" 4:3 HP and 22" 16:10 Dell (dull?) monitors (they're all standing side by side for now and my desk is really crowded ;D).
It absorbed most of the budget for my new system (i7-2600, 16 GB, 80 GB SSD, 1TB HDD), but we have great discounts with HP, so it was 'doable' 8) (meaning: the budget request was eventually accepted by management)

These screens are really good, so awfully beautiful to look at!

Right now, it appears even better than my old EIZO monitor.
That's the age of the EIZO showing, as you already found out. We'll just have to see how long these screens keep their good image quality, but I guess next round of PC updates I'll be sticking to these 2 babies :-*

There's a lot of theory behind SLOC.

I once had a work-assignment to roughly compare the value/weight of the several software packages we have, written in several languages (C, C++, C#, Cobol, Delphi, Java, Modula2, VB is in alphabetic order what I can remember now).
I searched for tools then that could generate some useful statistics based on SLOC, and ended up testing a few and finally settling on CodeCount from USC, in the 2006.05 version back then (Gee was it that long ago :o).

The major reason for selecting CodeCount was that it then gave reasonable and somewhat comparable counts for most of the languages I had to report on (Delphi and Modula2 aren't supported but I think I used another counter that supports Delphi and would eat Modula2, but I can't recall which one) , and all are based on the same measurement types, and from one development team.

I not sure you have the ambition to reach that kind of level or approach, and I'm not really interested in re-doing my tests from back then, but in addition to the Wikipedia article skwire referred to, it could be an interesting article/site for you to read.

Don't have the results of that report at hand, but it must be somewhere in my mail archive. I do recall there was quite a difference between the languages on P-Sloc and L-Sloc ratings (they're both calculated), but I can't even recall any figures just now.

I'll give this one a swing on some of my current projects 8)

I see version 3.3.1.2 via the Version tab of WinButtons.exe Properties.

Ah, I see what happened, after updating the version info I didn't hit the compile button :-[, but the new feature(s) should be there, as it was compiled just before that.
I won't be able to update before I get home though, I'll bump the version to 3.3.2.1 then.

Finished Programs / Release: WinButtons 3.3.2 and WinButtonEdit 0.9.3.0 (RC10)
« Last post by Ath on July 04, 2011, 05:01 PM »
Tried to work around the .ico issues/wishes reported by ewemoa, but because of the load of work involved that's already done by NirSoft's IconsExtract, I settled for a reference to that utility in the readme ;)

While going in that direction, I was able to add an optional scaling feature for the display of .bmp images on a button, it can resize to the actual button size if the image path/filename is prefixed with a dash (like '-flower.bmp', no quotes).

This isn't a big release but the versions got to go up, so here we go:

WinButtons 3.3.2 and WinButtonEdit 0.9.3.0 (RC10) are now available from the original release post.

The only extra is the WinButtonEdit.ico added to the zip-file, for those that might like it :tellme:

Bugreports and/or feature requests still welcome

The combination of 'Show Window Border' and 'Show in Taskbar' is kinda 'the culprit', as it then shows a full-size Close button and a System menu.

If you could either turn off 'Show in Taskbar', or turn off 'Show Window Border' and turn on 'Allow Window movable', you can still move the WinButtons Window around, and have the Window fit rather snugly around the buttons. Just a bit of experimenting involved ;)
I must say I slightly prefer the 'Show Window Border' version, over then the w/o border version. With 32x32px buttons the Window is quite small, and hard to hit, even with a mouse.

FWIW, when I use NirSoft's IconExtract, I see 5 sizes for the icon extractable from Video2MP3.exe (16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64, and 128x128).  In WBE / WB I end up seeing one of the smaller ones displayed as near as I can tell.
I can see them too (thanks for the link ), but I've been unable to select a specific icon-image from an icon embedded in an exe without extracting it from the file. Guess the best solution is give instructions how to link to NirSoft's IconsExtract, extract the icon using it, and address the desired icon from the .ico file using the index displayed by IconsExtract (while the .ico is still in the exe) (sorry if this sounds a bit cryptic :-[)

As said earlier, AutoIt hasn't provided me with a clue (yet) on how to specify the order/index of the icon-images included, and I probably need to add all icons as separate ico files (if that is even possible) to be able to address them individually.
But most exe's have combined icons and use the embedded resource traversing routines to display the desired icon size.
Haven't decided how to proceed from here.

In the meantime I've been able to add (optional) scaling to normal .bmp images, so it sizes to the button width and height, I'll release that probably tomorrow-night. (today I'm a bit short on time).
