-thanks.

Sales and offers often signals brand-new or soon-to-be-replaced. Version 8 was launched 11 months ago, but your site is missing a history of the previous versions 1-7, so I wonder how long I can expect it will take, before it is replaced by version 9?

-seems to be a fine offer,
but:

Licensing of the Stand-Alone Editions is made on a per-computer basis. You need a separate license for each Stand-Alone installation.

How easy will it be next year to move the program to the next computer of mine?

Shortcuts

Command-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it as a file on the desktop
Command-Control-Shift-3: Take a screenshot of the screen, and save it to the clipboard
Command-Control-Shift-4, then select an area: Take a screenshot of an area and save it to the clipboard
Command-Control-Shift-4, then space, then click a window: Take a screenshot of a window and save it to the clipboard

In Leopard and later, the following keys can be held down while selecting an area (via Command-Shift-4 or Command-Control-Shift-4):

Space, to lock the size of the selected region and instead move it when the mouse moves
Shift, to resize only one edge of the selected region
Option, to resize the selected region with its center as the anchor point

Formats

Different versions of Mac OS X have different formats for screenshots.

Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar): jpg
Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther): pdf
Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and later: png

In Mac OS X 10.4 and later, the default screenshot format can be changed, by opening Terminal (located at /Applications/Utilities/Terminal) and typing in:

  • defaults write com.apple.screencapture type image_format
  • killall SystemUIServer

Where image_format is one of jpg, tiff, pdf, png, bmp or pict (among others). If you omit the second line, you will need to log out and in again for the change to take effect.

/edit: it is on the contrary almost too late to ask; Pro 2012 including eM Client has left the building ;-)

My Internet Supplier is somewhat different from most ISP companies, because this one also gives me my television, telephone, download music (10 million tracks), rent-a-movie, email account, backup in the clouds, and so on - meaning that most of the time I am logged in. Already being logged in, I may as well read my emails while I am there. They also have a highly effecient filter: I get maybe one or two unwanted mails per week! So, about email clients, well, I have Thunderbird and Outlook 2003, and I like them both, and if you want me to adopt a new one, you better make it out of the ordinary! :-) SoftMaker eM Client is not bad in any way, it is actually quite good, but it is just not that extraordinary.

The $30 Spell Check Anywhere can do it via hotkey or button on (almost?) all text areas, if the text first is marked (as text). Simple, but fine and easy to operate.

They also have a $60 Grammar Check Anywhere via http://www.spellchec...ck/grammar_check.asp

you can enable / disable specific sounds under Tools > Options > General  in your Control Center
-NinjaTrader Support

-but maybe this option is missing if you are running the free version?

If you search their site and keep an eye on new feature development, you may want to look for "enhancement # 1254" (new audio settings).

This build contains not only bug fixes but also, for the first time,
SoftMaker eM Client 3.5 that manages your e-mails, contacts, tasks, and
calendars.

Compared to the original eM Client version 3.0, Softmaker claims over 500 bug fixes and optimizations, and major startup speed improvement, in their version 3.5.

However, I am not (yet) a fan of it.

1. Final beta of SoftMaker Office 2012 for Windows
------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the second beta of SoftMaker Office 2012 for Windows expired today,
we have just released the third and probably final beta.

This build contains not only bug fixes but also, for the first time,
SoftMaker eM Client 3.5 that manages your e-mails, contacts, tasks, and
calendars.

If you have already downloaded and installed a previous beta, you can
simply download and install the third beta from here:

http://www.softmaker...n/ofw2012probeta.exe

If you want to participate in this beta test for the first time,
please register and download the beta here:

-SoftMaker

"3.5", not merely "3"

-it is a little tiring to read all those hard words. Download Statusbar was developed and maintained freely by the trustworthy Devon Jensen. By the 20'th of September the addon suddenly belonged to a "C.J."; identity unknown. We don't know what happened, but we do know that shit happens. Get on.

Dolphin Text Editor Menu 1.9 Dolphin Text Editor Menu expands the functionality of any text editor. It doesn't replace your current text editors -- it makes them better. Dolphin Text Editor Menu will work with any software where you can type.

The closest idea of an alternative I tried is 43Marks .. here is a sample one-page app on Bible topics :
http://43marks.com/purebible

-thanks for telling about 43marks, Steven. Linkshelf might be working just as good, but it is simply too pathetic looking to catch my interest. 43marks is not smart looking either, but it looks more as if it will do the job. I have added 43marks to my start page (Firefox Speed Dial) as link/page number 10:

$149.95 Lifetime Upgrades, Today approx $100 via Bits du Jour
I thought that was fairly expensive:
rounding it up, it's actually "only" $50 & $25 respectively

-no, that is merely a one year license, and then another $20 per year!
The lifetime offer only shows up if you click "buy" and place a check mark in "lifetime license".

« Last post by Curt on October 25, 2011, 06:02 PM »
You get (...) and a tabbed CFi Explorer,

Easy to not notice, but CFi Explorer is a genuine Explorer replacement:

CFi Explorer is an alternative to Windows Explorer for users of Windows 7/Vista which has one fundamental difference: it allows you to have numerous folders open at once, each in its own tab. These folders don't just look like Windows Explorer – they are real Explorer windows.

cfiexplorer.png

CFi Explorer should be intuitive to use for anyone familiar with Windows Explorer, but here are a few notes about the basics:

Opening new tabs: Initially, CFi Explorer displays just one tab containing the Computer folder. You can open a new tab by pressing Ctrl+T, choosing Tabs > New Tab, or double-clicking the glass area containing the tabs.

Opening a folder in a new tab: There are various ways to open drives or folders in new tabs:

Right-click a folder and choose Open in new tab
Hold the Ctrl key when clicking a folder in the tree or double-clicking a folder in the view
Drag-and-drop a folder onto the glass area containing the tabs. (You can do this with a folder shown in CFi Explorer, Windows Explorer or anywhere else.)
Hold Ctrl when clicking a folder shown on the breadcrumb bar or a breadcrumb menu.

Copying or moving files between tabs: Drag the selected item up to the tab containing the target folder (using either mouse button) and hover over that tab for a moment: CFi Explorer will switch to that tab, letting you drop the items into it.

Using Favorites: Via the Favorites menu you can save the current folder – or the group of current tabs – as a Favorite. Click an item on the Favorites menu to open it in the current tab, or hold Ctrl when clicking it to open it in a new tab.

Using the breadcrumb bar: Click a folder on the breadcrumb bar (or a folder on one of the breadcrumb menus) to open it in the current tab, or hold Ctrl when clicking it to open it in a new tab.

Using tabset files: You can also save a shortcut to a single folder or the current set of tabs as a tabset file. Double-click a tabset file to open it in a new CFi Explorer window, or drop a tabset file onto the glass area containing the tabs to open it in the current window.

Using Filters: You can apply a custom file filter to the current folder to hide files that don't match the filter (or to hide files that do match it), to show only the files you want to see.

Easy sorting in Windows 7: Although Windows Explorer no longer contains a header bar in Windows 7, other than in Details view, the header bar appears in all icon views in CFi Explorer, making it as easy to sort items as it is in Windows Vista's Explorer.
