Living Room / Re: Where to watch soccer?
« Last post by tomos on April 28, 2015, 05:46 AM »
No idea where to watch soccer in the States -
have seen some US soccer on Eurosport - the quality seems quite high

Here in Europe, it's difficult to get to watch live soccer online legally - and the illegal sources usually aren't of great quality. And watching live is definitely the most exciting, especially if you're a supporter.

In Youtube search for something like "soccer matches full" will get you a share of matches. During the world cup, international games were taken down very quickly. Not sure how it is for league matches.

Found Deals and Discounts / Cloudberry Backup (S3 etc.) on BDJ ($10)
« Last post by tomos on April 28, 2015, 05:13 AM »
Disclaimer: I haven't used this.

The focus is Amazon S3, but it seems to work with a bunch of online backup sites.
http://www.bitsdujou...aign=2015-04-28+PC+A
$10
Seems like a very good price (if online backup is your focus) - monitors files & backs up online.

I've used their Explorer with which you can look at your S3 backups. Has a nice interface, and is easy to use.
They also have software that allows treating S3 as a local drive.

~20 hours to go.

(I find it looks fine at the beginning of a sentence too)

Maybe I misunderstand that you half want to bring this to our attention, and half want a solution.

I'm sorry if I get impatient, but still think my advice is good.
For the second half (a possible solution) - did you connect to FB using a phone?
(If so what are the settings on the phone as per your thread?)

I already looked at security and privacy (who knows what is the difference between them)

that's all I wanted to hear - I get frustrated when you (or anyone else) just keep asking questions without saying what you have done yourself to try and solve the problem.

:) And I wouldnt call that 'misbehaving' - I'd call it a bit of good advice:
if you want help - be helpful to those who are trying to help you - and that includes the above (i.e. telling what you have tried (or not); what you know yourself; etc. etc.)

edit// I meant did you follow up on any of the suggestions in the thread you linked to (and no, I didnt look very closely at them so have no idea if they're of any help - that's for you to figure out - but let us know)

DcUpdater / Re: LATEST VERSION INFO THREAD - DcUpdater - 1.30.01 - Apr 4, 2012
« Last post by tomos on April 25, 2015, 02:30 PM »
No posts in this forum since July 2013. I thought I'd change that by saying I just tried out DCUpdater by using it to install some new software and it appears to work flawlessly. Nothing has updated yet, though. We shall see.

It even detected my FARR plugins.   :)

I still use it and like it a lot. Have had some minor problems: cant remember exactly now, but I think if you have installed and portable flavours of same software present, it can get confused with the install path and installs both to same path. For some reason it always starts up with Windows (7) for me - looking for updates for CHS (but tbh I haven't checked if that's something in the CHS settings).
There may be other bugs - but not that I've come across

where exactly facebook tells her location? that could be the ordinary you are saying that facebook displays ''from Copenhagen"
but she continues saying, if they click on her name (not sure what she means) they can see her EXACT location!!!

this is probably what I am refering too, but I have not seen/done it on facebook
any idea?

  • have you even looked at the settings yet ?
  • or tried any of the suggestions in that thread ?
  • i.e. what exactly have you tried so far ?
  • apart from asking questions here ?

I've been on a huge funk spree lately. Listening to lots of Sly, Herbie Hancock, Isaac Hayes, Commodores, Supertramp, Tower of Power, and of course Parliament/Funkadelic, etc...

you'll have to make a few suggestions in the music thread -
(a greater variety of music unlikely to be found anywhere :))

^ no lightbulbs here @ 106 pages long :D

Even skimming it for graphics is hard work ;-)
interesting though:

  • sold in 2011 in Germany - Gold in:   monitors=1,645 kilos; laptops=740;   smartphones=240
  • sold in 2011 in Germany - Silver in: monitors=6,090 kilos; laptops=3,100; smartphones=2,350

and the font (Times New Roman?) and paragraph formatting, they're certainly not easy to read on screen...

Is (one) part of the problem that people tend to want to get stuff as cheaply as possible?
I believe that that's the reason that after-sales service is suffering, at any rate.

I know I fit in that bracket - I want something, and I want it cheap. But you get burned that way - poor quality products that dont last long and you got to spend again.
And I do also want good quality - I check reviews and look at amazon etc customer reviews (in particular the one to three star ones) - mind you most of those are not about long-term performance.

thanks but your reply is very generic
how do I restrict that specific information to be revealed? (my exact location)

look at your FB settings, I would suspect.
I personally wouldnt trust FB with that kind of info, but that's another matter...

A Defense of Comic Sans

http://www.youtube.c.../watch?v=GUCcObwIsOs

interesting :-)

on a lighter note, it reminded me of this one:

...
You think I’m a malformed, pathetic excuse for a font. Well think again, nerdhole, because I’m Comic Sans, and I’m the best thing to happen to typography since Johannes f***ing Gutenberg.

^eM became unusable for me a while back (hogging cpu). I gave up waiting for an update - and then I heard this news. So I'm using the 'bugware' Thunderbird - seems fine to me FWIW (not using IMAP with it though).
Will be interesting to see what they do for it.

This does sort of blur the lines though, between the standard and pro versions (€30 extra for Thunderbird?!)

^ never heard of google duckduckgo?  :P :D

btw Kingsoft Pro compares to Softmaker Pro pricewise:

  • does Kingsoft have any comparison page between versions?
  • can you use free version commercially? (I presume not but couldnt find any comparison)
2822
Is that on Windows 8.1 Armando?

I've been having recurring problems copying text on 8.1 - but it usually works after a few attempts (and I dont use the machine very seriously so dont pay a whole lot of attention to things).
2823
So I will want to try the spreadsheet module and compare it to Kingsoft.

go for it Tao !
It would be very interesting to hear a comparison

(I'm very happy with Textmaker's compatibility with Word - but couldnt really comment beyond that.)

  • [Feature] On History Options you can now choose to have FARR automatically add all applications that you launch outside of FARR (that have foreground windows), automatically added to FARR launch history; this makes them visible in main window on display, and makes them faster to find.

this is great help (e.g. for new portable apps)
